In Loving Memory of Harry 💔

In the past two years at Hart & Harry’s, we’ve managed to find early signs of health issues — heart disease, kidney stones, lumps, prostate problems — and early care made a big difference for many of them.
But with my own boy Harry, there were no signs at all. In less than 2 weeks, he was gone — taken by aggressive liver and spleen cancer. He never showed pain, never cried… only stopped eating a little. I wish he had shown me something…
Harry came into our life as a 4-month-old pup found in our community. For eight years he was perfectly healthy — a special boy with a big personality. Grumpy with strangers, yet endlessly loving and loyal to those he trusted. Losing him has left me heartbroken beyond words.
Today marks 2 weeks since I had to let him go quietly in my arms at home — and also 2 months since we lost our other boy, Thor. Thor was relocated to stay with my daughter back in 2019, and he was the only one Harry truly loved. Harry was deeply bonded to him and stayed loyal, never quite connecting with Hart the same way, no matter how much I tried. He missed Thor for months after he left, and now I hope they’ve found each other again. 🌈 Even now, Hart still looks for Harry — through the bushes at our walking spot or from the garden, expecting Harry to follow behind. Dogs are no different from us; they grieve, they remember, they miss their loved ones deeply. Like Thor was a sun for Harry, Harry was that sun for Hart.

This post isn’t for sympathy — it’s a message of awareness. Please listen closely to your four-legged family members.
Too often I hear, “My dog is healthy,” or “He’s still young — only eight.” But after seven, things can change quietly and fast. Please make regular health checks part of your routine — blood work, ultrasounds, joint exams — even when everything seems fine. Early detection can truly make a difference.

Harry’s spirit will always be part of Hart & Harry’s — in his face on our wall, in the name I see every day, and in the heart of everything we do.
It’s hard to imagine Hart without Harry, but we’ll carry his love forward, always.
