Another breakthrough in the world of veterinary medicine here in the UAE!
Over a month and a half ago, we have successfully performed a TOTAL HIP REPLACEMENT for Rocky; a mixed saluki dog who had an old fracture on the head of the femur.
The advanced procedure were performed by our visiting orthopedic specialist, Dr Chadi Eid, and a secondary surgeon, our very own Dr. Stella.
It is the first successful and officially published Total Hip Replacement in the region!
Dolly is a 9 year old dog and has been a long time patient of ours. Throughout her life, she went through ups and downs, underwent already some major surgeries, has a tracheal collapse, issues with weight and also has a cherry eye.
The most concerning problem that she has though is having a lump-like lesion on her left tarsal bone which was diagnosed to be a nodular fasciitis; a benign nonneoplastic lesion arising from superficial portions of the deep fascia in dogs.
After a careful planning from our team of vets since May, considering her tracheal collapse, weight and blood parameters, a successful surgery was done led by Dr Isabel & Dr Francesca at Al Wasl Branch. A sample was also taken to be sent to the laboratory for further testing. The surgery went well and Dolly will be discharged after a night of intensive care.
Follow up was arranged as well after few days to check the surgery site.
This is Camel, he came in just for a routine dental check and turned out to have some major issue that needs to be addressed immediately.
During mouth assessment, a piece of wood was found lodged on the upper pallet, and seems to be there for a long time.
A big wound was seen as well with growing infection. Antibiotics were given and a dental procedure with mouth cleaning and his castration were done after 3 days.
This marmoset came in as an emergency having no appetite and being restless for the past two days. He is also dehydrated and obviously jaundiced upon consultation.
Dr Saman proceeded with blood test and ultrasound to confirm diagnosis and to come out with a treatment plan. He is on intensive care right now and we are trying our best to save him as his prognosis is poorly.
