Having a Healthy Balance with Your Dog
Working dog or pet dog, it’s so important to set aside time to just let your dog be a dog. In this video is a GSD x Belgian Malinois cross that is a working dog in training that was extremely reactive towards other dogs. He now enjoys running the fence with his shepherd buddy next door and with relaxed body language. But note, even when allowing him to do this (aka allowing him to just be a dog), you see he is still fully under control and is able to hear and comply with the commands I’m giving.
To get this level of control, I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to always be fair, consistent, and very clear in terms of the commands and/or corrections you’re giving. Too many people have a black and white mindset. They either don’t allow their dog to just do dog type activities, or they give far too much freedom without having any control over their dog. It’s all about operating in the grey area and finding that happy medium.

Luna - Impulse Control
After working Luna on a lot of confidence building, impulse control/place work, and improving the relationship with her lab brother, this was the result. Luna had a slew of issues when we started, including PTSD (and everything that comes along with it) due to surviving a house fire with recently healed burn wounds, as well as unwanted behavior directed towards the other dog in the home.
