Bit of breeding dance action from the L007 vamps during water changes!
The first spawn from these guys didn't work out but they have started trapping again this week which is good to see! hopefully we get another shot at hatching some little vampires soon π€
Hooley Dooley more double spawns in the fish room! I knew there was fry in the cave but did not expect a fresh batch of wrigglers to exit aswell π! Big props to dadda 397 hatching, raising and keeping all these little tackers in the cave! I have my hands full looking after 1 baby π
This male L201 must be extra handsome or something.. 2 generations of wigglers still in the cave and has another female trapped... meanwhile the other males in the tank aren't getting any action π€·ββοΈ.
I have had double spawns in caves before with other L's where eggs are laid with wigglers still in the cave or two lots of eggs that hatch days apart but if this trapping is succesful and they lay this will be the 3rd spawn in 4 weeks in this cave with consecutive spawns laid while still minding wigglers which I have never had before.. you can see the older fry which are darker showing spots then the younger fry up the back still with yellow egg sacks and glimpses of the trapped females fins under the male.. I wonder what this male is doing the others aren't π€ I have now nicknamed him Pete Davidson π
Left these wrigglers too long in the cave and they got too smart and good at hanging on π managed to get 32 of them out with a few left for dad to keep looking after I guess π€·ββοΈ. I use the shake and stand the cave up method to entice them out how do you guys do it?
Nice big healthy spawn from the 333s though π! Discovered a couple 201 spawns this morning aswellπ₯³ and the 007s have been trapping a couple days now so π€I get my first spawn out of those guys π.
Happy pleco keeping friends π€.
Hooley Dooley got some close up footage of this lady showing off her berries π€©
I'm not sure why all the ladies in this tank are carrying babies but my other tiger tanks are not having as much luck π€·ββοΈ they all get the same treatment, all get the exact same temp movements as they are heated by the room, same feeding regime, same water volume except the fancy tigers.. it's a mystery π€! But figuring these things out is what makes shrimping/fish keeping so interesting π
Been a while since I posted so heres an update! lots has been happing! squeezed a few more tanks in overhead and added a bunch of new caridinia and pleco species to work on! and lots of reshuffling of tank inhabitants to focus on rarer stuff for you guys π₯³.
The plan now is to move on some pleco groups I dont have the space to keep breeding (pm for list π), and get back ontop of maintenance and fry raising with everything running smoothly (newborn has me behind in this department π).
This means I have set the very difficult task of not buying anymore fish for the rest of the year π¬! Doesn't mean you guys shouldn't load up though π.
Hopefully launch a Website before year end with stocklist and maybe if time permits a YouTube with a fishroom tour and some handy tips and tricks on how I run things.
Happy fishkeeping friends π€
Hypancistrus breeding behaviour, not sure if they laid the eggs outside the cave or he kicked them out straight away but 2 hours after taking this footage there was eggs infront of the cave π€―
Big batch of black calvus pulled from the community tanganyika tank, mum and dad did a good job protecting them but the caudos starting ganging up on them so time to move the babies to the fry box π mum and dad are a bit confused now! π
Caught in the act! middle of the day, mid waterchange and with the lights on π
Peppermints will always be some of the nicest fry to look at! I am absolutely overrun with fry at the moment though and the adult group is now looking for a new home so this might be my last batch I get to enjoy raising π
2 days after introducing the L007 into the fish room and to see the male so settled fins not clamped and already fanning a little π€ even with lights on is pretty cool to see! this isn't even their finally destination just temporary/quarentine while I make room for now.. but maybe they like the way it's set up π€·ββοΈ.
Lucky I had some bigger caves to suit 20cm fish laying around! The female isn't as settled yet but hopefully she starts spending some more time around the cave! π I love getting new fish! π
I have pretty much used up all the space for tanks in this room but I did figure out I can just squeeze in a little rack of 2fts near the door so thats today's projectπ
From a distance this tank looks rather boring and inactive like alot of my pleco tanks but when you get up close and take a good look around its rather fun to watch π
Big order of mixed shrimpies, these are going to look epic in the customers tank π
Live food day for the tanganyikan cichlids and this sub adult shell dweller is taking down cherry shrimps half its size! smallest cichlid on earth but the pound for pound meanest π
