Hi! Welcome to KAAE!
I'm Darcie and I’m the owner and educator at Kinnaird Anaesthesia and Analgesia Education.
Let's quickly run through the basics:
- I’m a 2018 Murdoch university graduate, of the BVMS variety.
- my first year old I stayed on at Murdoch uni as an intern (or specialty trainee as they call it) with the anaesthesia and analgesia department
- in addition to my vet degrees I also have a graduate diploma of education in tertiary and workplace.
So what did I do after my internship?
I wanted to branch out a bit so I moved back to Adelaide in Jan 2020, (right before the world shut down) and started working full time in emergency and critical care. After spending 2 years doing this I decided to take a bit of a breather and turn more of my attention to the education work I enjoy so much. In late 2021 I started KAAE in late 2021 and in early 2022 I stepped into a part time general practice role.
Now for the non-vet related more interesting stuff
I have two cats, a 4 year old foster fail named Rizz and fidget, a 2 year old kitten who I hand raised after he was orphaned.
I play softball for the Glenelg Rebels and I spend a lot of my free time training in powerlifting where I hope to compete in my first competition at the end of this year.
I'm going to be posting more soon about KAAE, what it is and why I started it so look out for that. This page is going to be a collection of fun facts, tips and tricks, and some anaesthetic myth busting here and there so follow the page to get all of that, and probably some star appearances from Fidget and Rizz, look forward to chatting with you all!
