Gorgeous little Rosie 🐨
With her 5 fractured ribs, a significant head injury and swollen jaw, she has required intensive nursing care over the past few days.
However Rosie has suprised us with her fighting spirit and determination to get better.
It’s a relief that she is now eating eucalyptus leaves once again and has appeared to turn a corner in her recovery 🩷
Shes a little battler that for sure 💪
Isnt she just adorable? 🥰

River is such a character trying to grab the leaf with his hands 🤣 they are not quite doing what he wants them to do! 🥰🤣

What a Special late night surprise 💙🐨

After a very late night call one of our dedicated 1300KOALAZ rescuers was off to the Adelaide hills to rescue this little chap who had fallen 4 meters.

With no mum to be found the little Joey was taken to Wildlife Nurse SA, Kerry, our Joey specialist for stabilising. Apologies for getting you up in the wee hours of the morning Kerry, but needs must.

The little koala is doing well and will be given a thorough check by a vet.

Meanwhile it was another hunt for the missing mother this morning by a posse of rescuers. Thankfully they found her and she was taken to the Adelaide Koala & Wildlife Centre for a check as a Joey this size should still be firmly attached to mum, either in the pouch or on her front.

We will keep you updated on the outcome.

Mateo ❤️

Mateo is one lucky red kangaroo joey!
He has an epic travel history for such a young roo.

Mateo was rescued by a courier driver in the flinders rangers after his mother was hit by a car or truck and died 😢 leaving him orphaned.
he was transported to a wildlife carer in the area.

Once examined by the carer is was clear that mateo had extensive injuries 😢 and needed specialised veterinary medical treatment.

🚗 Mateo was transported to another carer in Wilmington then driven 🚙 to Port Augusta to catch a Courrier to transport him to Adelaide.

Mateo recieved much needed veterinary treatment with his long list of injuries including:

❇️ degloved tail tip
❇️ broken tail
❇️ 3 broken ribs
❇️ sever lung contusions - bleeding and bruising of the lungs

Mateo had xrays confirming his injuries, surgery to amputate/remove the 4cm of degloved tail tip, his tail break repositioned and a cast placed.
His ribs and lung bruising will heal themselved in time.

After a big 1st week in care,Mateo is going fantastically well 🙌💪💙 and recieving ongoing nursing care 🥰

He is a very calm and placid joey, super handsome 😉, loves his bottle, and recovering from his injuries well

It takes a team to make these miracles happen and save kangaroo joeys like Mateo 💙
