Remember Hudson?

He had the most horrific skin, with a mixed condition of bacterial infection, Candida growth and ringworm on his skin 🦠🤢😢

His skin got worse before it got better, his hair fell out and he looked a sad sight

I had to follow quarantine measures as ringworm is highly contagious.
Well guys I contracted ringworm anyway 🤦🏻‍♀️ 🦠 sporting 17 lesions!! It was horrible and slightly impressive at the same time 🤪
My doctor was disappointed that I didn’t bring the kangaroo with me to my doctors appointment 🤣🤪

After 8 weeks of medications for Hudson his skin resolved and his hair started growing back 🙌❤️ he’s now such a handsome beautiful looking boy ( see the last photo)

After 2 weeks of medication 💊 for myself, I’m now clear too 🙌

Im just so pleased Hudson has made a full recovery ❤️🥰

Meet Emily 💝
she’s a tiny Western Grey kangaroo joey weighing only 460g

Her mum was hit by a car and sadly died, leaving Emily orphaned. Fortunately she was rescued by Lisa Unnasch and taken into care.

With a suspected broken wrist and grazes on her face tail and legs from the road she was sent to me for specialised nursing care and treatment.

Luckily her wrist was not broken just very swollen from the open wounds and trauma, after cleaning the area her wounds were dressed and she’s rocking an awsome hot pink bandage 🥰

Emily is doing well after being in care for a week already, she is small but mighty 💪 and is not shy by call out when she wants her bottle.

Did you know that babies this small need to be bottle fed every 4 hours around the clock ⏰ yes that’s right 5 feeds a day 🍼 she certainly keeps me busy!

We are wishing her a speedy recovery ❤️‍🩹

This poor Red kangaroo joey “Hudson” has the most sever fungal skin infection covering his entire body that I have ever seen 😭🦠

He was sent to me for intensive Nursing treatment and care 🥰
After a full examination, and testing at the vets he now has an assortment of medications to help cure his nasty skin.

Although he smells and looks yucky 😕 he has a personality that lights up the room, he holds his ears up tall and straight with confidence, he calls out demanding his milk bottle 🍼 and loves a chest scratch throwing his head back with enjoyment 🥰

Continue to shine bright Hudson ⭐️
We have get this 👊

he’s such a hungry boy!

Poor Daniel suffered a broken nose, fractured Femur and sever lung contusions 😢 so much for such a small koala 🐨

Despite a rough first few days in care due to his trauma injuries he is doing well 🙌 and as you can see loves his milk 🥰🐨

One of my beautiful koalas that was helping himself to the freshly picked leaf in drums 🤣 certainly had a good appetite ❤️
This boy made a full recovery and was released several weeks later after sustaining burns to all 4 feet 🙌❤️

Baby Blitzen 🐨

Another baby who lost his mum 😞
He’s been in care for the past week being Stabilised and to get started on bottle feeding.

He’s doing great and it quite the character 🤪 who loves doing zoomies, runs all over the tree and gives the odd playful Nip, I have a few battle wounds 🤦🏻‍♀️

Blitzen has now returned to 1300Koalaz to his long term carer joining Heidi 🐨 and Holly 🐨 ❤️

Farewell Blitzen I hope you continue to thrive and please be a good boy! Remember Santa is watching🎅🏼 🥰❤️

Baby Holly 🐨
She was found by herself with no mother to be found 😞
the wonderful volunteers at 1300Koalaz spent multiple days searching for her mum to avail 🤷‍♀️
Holly came to me for her initial work up including bloods, urinalysis and to get started on bottle feeding.
She has adapted to her new surroundings ravenously eating gum and taking bottles well.
Holly is happy and healthy and now ready to go to her long term carer who will raise her through to release with 1300Koalaz

Farewell Holly I hope you continue to thrive 🥰❤️

Baby Keira developed Oxolate Nephrosis 😭
It’s so devistating after all the hard work and effort to pull her through her initial injuries 😞 for this to happen
Many of the babies that come into care have this genetic predisposition, it’s just so sad

Baby Wren has come down with the dreaded oxalate nephrosis 😭

You can see her urine sample under the microscope full of crystals.

It’s a nasty nasty disease taking koalas lives 😞 causing severe renal damage and failure.

Wren has been given peace and is with her mother once more in the clouds and trees ⛅️ 🌲

11 years ago today this photo was taken.
This is baby Olivia ❤️🥰🐨
This was before the days of Facebook so she never got to meet you all
Olivia was saved from The Port Lincoln Bushfires triaged at Port Lincoln Vet and flown to adelaide by plane.
Her mother died in the flames 🔥😭 and Olivia sustained minor burns to all 4 paws.
Looking back it brings tears to my eyes that she survived 🥰🙌
many many months later after hand raising her I flew her back to Mikkira Station Koala Sanctuary
Mikkira Station Koala Sanctuary where she was released.
It also brings so much joy that the land owners reported she had several joeys in the years to come ❤️ what a success.
I will always remember you Olivia 🥰🩷

Victims of a hit and run baby Wren and her mum Maggie were in big trouble! injured, vulnerable on the road, and all alone.

Thankfully Courtney and her family were driving by and stopped to help them 🩷 thank you amazing humans ❤️🙏
They managed to carefully collect them and take them to SASH - Small Animal Specialist Hospital Adelaide for medical treatment.
Maggie sustained significant head injuries and didn’t make it 😭 leaving baby Wren an orphan 🐨

Only Suffering a few cuts and scrapes Baby Wren was fortunate not to be severely injured.

She’s a gentle little girl, a bit scared but settling into her new surroundings and taking to bottle feeding well

Here she is eating some yummy tippy gum 🍃

UPDATE: - Already we have been contacted by some amazing people. Thank you FB Community for your help and support in getting our message out. Will keep you posted!

Help Adelaide Community!!! Please share this story with anyone or any company who could help out in our time of need.

After years of service, our outdated business copier/printer/scanner has died and we desperately need a new (or used one) that is capable of meeting our needs! Do you know of a business or company that wants to help wildlife in a unique way - by donating us a copier! Maybe your business is upgrading to a newer model, you have a spare not being used or your company wants to give back to a Adelaide charity?

The printer needs to be able to do multi sized pages, in colour. Like the image attached as an example (but any brand). And of course, need to be in full working order.

We will be so grateful for your help. Thank you.

The story of Keira 🐨
Keira and her mother were hit by a bus on the O’Barn a week ago, sadly her mum died at the scene 😭

The force of the impact threw Keira from her mum and she landed under the cement pillars of the o’barn, she couldn’t be seen from above 😢 nobody knew she was there.

Baby Keira was found around 18 hours after the initial accident 😭😭 thanks to the 1300Koalaz team as soon as they hurd about this situation a rescue mission was activated and Keira was rescued and received imediate veterinary treatment at SASH - Small Animal Specialist Hospital Adelaide. (Great work guys) 🥰 a special shout out to Vanessa her rescuer.

Keira was in a critical condition with clear facial injuries, dull mentation, dehydrated and in shock.

I nursed her around the clock to stabilise her condition so further testing and imaging could be performed 👩🏻‍⚕️

A CT scan revealed multiple facial fractures which should heal themselves with rest and care.

Unfortunately Keira had ruptured her right eye globe loosing vision in this eye, she will require surgery down the track to have it surgically removed.

Keira was named after Keira Knightley from the movie 🏴‍☠️ Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War now only having one eye she had joined the crew and is now a Pirate 🏴‍☠️ 😜 and proven to be quite the fighter 💪

Keira has continued to improve every day and the Veterinary Surgeons are happy with her progress.

After spending a week in a basket set up recovering Last night she climbed the inside tree for the first time and spent the entire night in the tree munching on leaf 🐨
