šŸšØ EXCITING NEWS! šŸšØ

Iā€™m thrilled to share that Iā€™ve officially completed the Aggression in Dogs Master Course taught by the world-renowned expert, Michael Shikashio! šŸŽ“šŸ• This is the gold standard for trainers and behavior consultants worldwide, offering the most comprehensive education on understanding and managing dog aggressionā€”and I couldnā€™t be more excited to have this under my belt!

šŸ’ Why did I take this step?
A few months ago, I had a sobering experience with a clientā€™s dog that made me question everything. I moved too quickly in a session, even though I knew the dog wasnā€™t fully comfortable with me being there. With two layers of management in placeā€”a muzzle and leadā€”I thought it would be okay. But when the owner accidentally dropped the lead, things escalated. Before I knew it, a big German Shepherd was coming straight at me. If it werenā€™t for the muzzle, I donā€™t even want to imagine how badly that could have ended.

That moment, paired with the everyday pressures of running a business, left me at a crossroads. For a while, I seriously considered stepping away from aggression casesā€”or even closing down Paws & Reward altogether. But after a lot of reflection, I realized something important: this work is my passion. Helping dogs with fear and aggression challenges might be tough, but itā€™s also the most rewarding part of what I do.

šŸ’Ŗ So instead of stepping back, I decided to step up.
I committed to becoming the best trainer I can possibly beā€”both for my own safety and to ensure Iā€™m offering my clients the most effective behaviour change plans possible. Thatā€™s why I enrolled in this incredible course. Though I had two years to complete it, I dove in and finished it in just two months! Early mornings, late nights, multitasking during dinner, and listening to lectures while drivingā€”these past few months have been an all-out immersion into aggression training. šŸš—šŸ“š

āœØ What did I gain?
Much of what I was already doing was validated (a big confidence boost!), but I also learned so much more: from safely breaking up dog fights to truly respecting each dogā€™s individual pace.

šŸ¾ If youā€™re ready to tackle your dogā€™s fear or aggression in 2025, Iā€™m here to help.
I know how overwhelming it can feel, but you donā€™t have to go through it alone. Together, we can create a tailored plan to help your dog feel safer, calmer, and more confident.

Letā€™s make 2025 a year of positive changeā€”for you and your dog. šŸ’™ Reach out today, and letā€™s get started!

šŸ¾ Exciting News! šŸ¾

I am thrilled to announce the launch of TWO new programs that are incredibly close to my heart:

šŸŒŸ The Pre-Adoption Program šŸŒŸ
Iā€™ve been working on this one for a while, and Iā€™m so happy to finally share it! Too often, I meet amazing owners with wonderful dogs who just arenā€™t the right fit for their lifestyle. This leads to heartache and stress, as difficult decisions must be made. This program is designed to help you find the perfect match before you even bring a dog home. By making confident, informed decisions, we ensure that you choose a dog who fits seamlessly into your life and supports ethical practices throughout the adoption process. šŸ¶ā¤ļø

šŸŒŸ The Cautious Canines Program šŸŒŸ
This program is for guardians of shy, fearful dogs who may be afraid of thunderstorms, car trips, the vet, or simply feel uneasy around people and other animals. If your dog struggles with fear and anxiety, Iā€™m here to help! Traditional obedience training or overwhelming exposure can often make things worse. In this program, weā€™ll work together to create a gentle, gradual approach that builds your dogā€™s confidence, helping them face their fears at their own pace. Let's help your dog feel more relaxed, confident, and at ease, both at home and in the world. šŸ¾šŸ’•
šŸ”— Learn more: https://pawsandreward.com.au/shyandfearfuldogs

These programs are born out of my deep passion to help families and their dogs thrive together in a harmonious and happy environment. If you're interested in either program or have any questions, please donā€™t hesitate to reach out! Let's create a bright future for your furry companion. šŸ•šŸ’š

Summer is quickly approaching, and with that comes the ever-increasing risk of bushfires in the Adelaide Hills where the Lions Hearing Dog Training Centre is located.

To combat this risk and ensure the safety of our dogs in training, ALHD has enacted a policy where on catastrophic fire danger days, dogs are billeted out to volunteer homes in the Adelaide metropolitan area until the risk has abated.

During these stays, volunteers are provided with everything necessary to look after and make comfortable the trainee assistance dog under their care. Food, leads, crates etc. are all dropped off with the dog directly to the volunteer and a member of the Training Team will be available 24 hours a day to provide support and advice should it be required.

We are searching for volunteers who live in the Adelaide metropolitan area who can look after one of our trainee dogs during catastrophic fire danger days. We envisage this commitment to be for only 2-3 nights at a time.

If you can help provide a short-term place of safety for a future assistance dog or have any questions, please contact the Training Centre on 8388 7836 or email [email protected].

Thank you for your support.
