Dougie Boy, the Bull Arab X. Dougie's been adventuring with us weekly now for 6 months. At the start he was a very boisterous young male who really struggled to understand his size and impact on other dogs.

Over time, he's learnt adventure time is for sniffing & he’s become a much calmer explorer and is able to regulate his play drive much better now around the other dogs ☀️

Having an off leash dog is a privilege, not a right. No matter where your dog is in their off leash skills and abilities, we can always train, improve and refine their skill set, especially when it comes to recall!

Dogs are not robots which means there's no harm in going back to practise a few basics from time to time to continue reinforcing the behaviours we want to reward and see.

One of our most lively adventure dogs, Bree! If she could hunt and search all day long, she absolutely would. Bree is a Brittany, which belongs to the Gundog Group of dogs, the smallest of the Pointing breeds.

Bree is always switched on and there's not a trail or animal track that isn't noticed when she's out adventuring with us. True to her breed type, she packs ALOT of stamina and energy into her character - she's often found showing all the other dogs on the walk with her, where to look for critters 🐛🐇🌾

Welcome back to all our followers and friends of PMC. We're back underway for 2025, with the current puppy class up and running, currently in week three and our Adventure Walks have kicked off again for your dogs.

Adventure girl Myrtle, one of our earliest pups to join the PMC crew 🌸 We met Myrtle when she was a tiny lil puppy. She’s gone from being a busy and excitable puppy to one of our sound mentor dogs who we are able to pair with any of the new comers to our adventure walks. Thank you Myrtle 🫶🏼

Our puppy classes are a progression. Our aim over the 6 weeks is to build up your knowledge and skill set so that you have the skills to continue training your pup when the classes end.

It's so rewarding to see the growth over the 6 weeks as owners and dogs build their relationship and skills together

I get this question all the time ☝️ Especially when people are first starting to teach their dog the recall cue.

The important thing to remember here is that if you're dog or puppy doesn't respond to their cue the first time, repeating it multiple times in hope of the same outcome does not increase the chances of a successful response.

Instead, it's more effective to go and retrieve your dog, set them up for a successful outcome rather than causing confusion with repeated cues that dilute their meaning.

Advocating for your dog can mean many different things, but importantly it's about putting your dogs needs before your own to ensure their mental and physical safety.

Dogs don't usually have the luxury of saying no to activities or environments in which they don't feel comfortable, that is why it is important for us to be their voice and learn their body language to help them navigate the spaces and interactions which are challenging for them.
