🌾It's that time of year again... Grass seed season!

🐕Arthur the Golden Retriever was our first patient for the season with a nasty grass seed embedded in his ear yesterday! Luckily it was removed quicky and he is now feeling much better.

🏹Grass seeds are shaped like arrow heads and can easily become embedded in your pet's ears, nose, paws and even eyes! If left untreated, this can lead to discomfort, irritation, infection and further damage.

‼️Unfortunately grass seeds are everywhere at this time of year, but it can be helpful to:
- avoid long or dry grassy areas
- check your dog all over (focusing on the paws, ears, eyes and nose) after each walk
- keep on top of grooming
- book an appointment with your vet asap if you are suspicious of a stuck grass seed

Read precious Feyre’s story below. All our fingers are crossed for this little pup! ❤️‍🩹

Poor little Feyre has had a rough time since arriving in care a week and a half ago.
Not long after arriving, her foster carer noticed she was not a happy little girl like her siblings. Sweet Feyre had fluid in her lungs, and our team at Paws Galore ensured she received immediate attention. She was put straight on antibiotics and other medications.
Feyre was feeling much better the next morning and was able to return home to her foster carer. She was doing well until the early hours of yesterday morning, when she crashed again. Her foster carer rushed her straight to the emergency vet.
The great people at Paw Prints After Hours were very quick to put our sweet girl into oxygen therapy and on a drip, as she was struggling to breathe. As of last night, she is having trouble exhaling carbon dioxide.
As you can imagine, emergency vets aren't cheap. We are reaching out to see if anyone is able to help by donating to Feyre's vet care. We have attached yesterday morning's invoice and would greatly appreciate any support. Please note this is just the deposit, we are unsure what the total cost will reach.

Does your pet require ongoing medication? 💊

In most cases, we are able to dispense medication refills in between visits under a couple of conditions:

-⭐ Please give our staff 24 hours notice to refill the medication: this gives your pet's vet the chance to review the request and check the dosage required
- ⭐ If your pet is on a medication that we don't routinely stock, please allow for extra time for us to order the medication from our supplier
- ⭐Your pet MUST have a consultation with the veterinarian every 6 months before ongoing medication is dispensed

Meet Diesel!

He is currently being fostered by vet nurse Mia through Dusty Paws Dog Rescue - so you may have seen him hanging out at the clinic!

Diesel is looking for a home to call his own. He is a friendly, playful, affectionate boy with lots of love to give. He came into the rescue a little chonky and in his short time in foster care he already lost 3kg - he's on his way to a healthier lifestyle!

A big welcome to veterinary nurse Emma who has join the team at Paws Galore! 🫶🏼

Emma has already been working with us since April but will now be here full time! 😍 She has been in the industry for over a decade and holds a Certificate III in Companion Animal Services, Certifcate IV in Veterinary Nursing and a Diploma of Animal Technology!

In her spare time, Emma enjoys lifting weight at the gym, running the local trails and spending time with her 2 cats and 2 dogs. 🐶🐶🐱🐱

🐱 Holly the Birman visited us yesterday for her annual vaccination.

🩵 We loved seeing how comfortable she was in the clinic, happy to chill on the front desk on her harness and lead! What a cutie!
