Yesterday we said our final goodbyes to our beautiful clinic cat, Paws. 🤍

Paws has been a loving member of the team for almost 20 years, ever since she found her way to the clinic as a stray kitten.

We will all miss her dearly. Run free, Pawsy.

‼️Closure of HomeSafe ID microchip registry. ‼️

You may have seen in the media that HomeSafeID, a microchip registry company, is closing.
If your pet has been microchipped at our clinic in recent years, you probably will not be affected as we register microchips to both DACO (SA based) and AAR (Australia wide).
You can check which company your pet’s details are registered to by visiting:

https://petaddress.com.au

If they are registered with HomeSafeID, you will need to re-register their details with one of the 4 other microchip companies within Australia: AAR, Central Animal Records, Global Micro or PetSafe.
If your pet is already registered with one of these companies, then you do not have to do anything.

Whilst this is an inconvenience for pet owners, it is also a great opportunity to ensure your pet’s microchip details are up to date.

Checking your pets microchip registry and updating their details can be done at home, however if you require assistance, please call the clinic on 8382 8055

To all our wonderful clients,

Please accept our apologies if you have been receiving unsolicited text messages from us and also if our administrative services are a little slower over the next few days.

To provide you with an explanation - recently our computer server was becoming bogged down and unable to perform its usual tasks consistently. This meant we were forced to either purchase a new server or upgrade our software management program to a cloud-based system. For several reasons the latter option was clearly preferable, but it has meant that there were the inevitable glitches in migrating the data between the programs and we are all having to adapt to a new program after using our old one for many years.

I hope this explanation helps.

Apologies for the inconvenience this morning - our clinic was unfortunately broken into overnight.
Fortunately no animals or staff were harmed.
We are currently cleaning up the damages but the clinic is open - business as usual.

🌾 We are seeing LOTS of embedded grass seeds this season already.

⚠️ A reminder to avoid walking through long, dry grassy areas at this time of year and check your pet’s paws/ears/eyes/nose regularly for these pesky grass seeds!

🌱 We are well and truly in Grass Seed Season now! 🌾

Grass seeds are often shaped like a dart or arrow, which is why they easily get stuck in the skin and fur of our pets. They are commonly found during the spring and summer months, in areas with dry or long grass.

Grass seeds will often find there way into pets’ ears, nose, paws, eyes and ge****ls - but can become embedded anywhere in the body. Once embedded, grass seeds usually cause irritation and infection. If left untreated, they can require surgery to remove.

To reduce the risk of your pet getting a grass seed embedded, check them all over after walks (especially their paws!), keep on top of grooming and avoid walking through long or dry grass.

If you think your pet has a grass seed, contact your local vet as soon as possible. The earlier grass seeds are caught, the less damage they do.
