All4Hooveswa Equine Rescue Sanctuary Inc. We are an Equine and large animal rescue, rehabilitation, retrain, and rehome organisation All4hoovesWA has collaborated with RSPCA in Albany.
(2)

We have been rehoming horses/ponies ourselves for years in the Albany area, through the strong community connection we have developed. In 2021 All4hoovesWA, a charity organisation registered with ACNC was born out of the growing need in our area, for a safe refuge to rescue, rehabilitate, retrain and rehome abused, abandoned, and surrendered horses/ponies. We have had horses/ponies come to us via

social media, phone calls, RSPCA, and word of mouth. All4hoovesWA continues to provide these essential services to equines and farm animals and grow our support services in Albany and surrounding areas of Western Australia. With the support of Albany Horse World, Great Southern Stock Feeds, Brad Lucas our Farrier, Dobbins Paddock-equine therapy services, Whole Herd with Janine Bell and her Bowen Therapy and Glens Heavy Recovery and Towing Services who cart our hay, Lisa Clarke from The Roving Vet, Wendy Rogers Great Southern Equine Vet, Promotional Ponies for helping educate the community and Bianca Blyth and Panther Productions for developing our logo our organisation continues to grow. We have a couple of good volunteers, but as we have grown so quickly, we need more volunteers. Our CEO was nominated and recognised at the RSPCA awards in 2022 and came home with a bronze award for her work.

‼️Urgent end of financial year fundraiser‼️

With the positive changes we have made at our sanctuary we are setting up yards that allows each horse to have their own. This if for tge safty of our horses as well as oit team and vollenters. The yards will be used for feed time, farrier, vets. This allows us to feed each horse what they need with out them changing buckets as we run the rescue in a herd environment. It also allows us to have them in yard ready for the farrier and for any vet visits.

We are asking for our followers help to achieve our goal to set up individual yards for the horsrs at our sanctuary.
Donations or sponsorship a $40 panel today before the end of the finacial year any donation over $2 is tax deductible
Our target is $1600 for 40 pannels
🐴Please share with your friends, family and businesses to help make this possible while being able to claim your tax deduction 🐴

Nascar and Barbie are one of the loved up couples you will see at our sanctuary. As all relationships they have a love hate relationship. You will never see them far from each other when out in the paddock and at dinner time when let out Nascar will call out to find her. Both being seniors they will get to live out there days happily together knowing they are safe and have all their needs met.

One of our amazing volunteers leesa rolling out more hay for our seniors. This group go through a bale every three days.
We roll them out 1. To get them to last longer 2. We have found they leave less waste. (Nothing at all)
All happy enjoying the sun and rugs off. Back tonight to hard feed and rug back up.

Owning and running a rescue with many horses means there is never really any down time there is always something needing to be done.

While I am struggling with a bulging disc in my back and in a moon boot I can't thank our three volunteers enough for helping me out the last two weeks.

Welcome home Avicci.

Sadly he wasn't working out for his new home so they have asked for him to come back home to continue his journey looking for a new for ever home.

We thank his old family for making the right decision for him to come home where we will work with him and continue looking for the home/person he will work best for and them for him.

He has come back a big healthy boy so after some correction training and a few ground manners touched up on he will be back up for adoption.

We honestly can't thank our team enough as you can see the largest need when running an Equine Rescue is hay and alot of it. We can't thank Amy and Julie enough for speaking with many farmers and working hard finding safe horse hay.

10/06/2024

We are very luck to be able to supply our horses with hay In this hard time. Sadly it comes at a very high cost but we have a few amazing people to thank for making it possible. A massive thank you to Amy for putting $4500 towards this lot of hay and $3500 towards our last load of hay and all the loads before them. You are amazing for everything you do for our rescue not just funding 98% but also hands on every day. For going above and beyond working day and night to make sure the horses are happy and safe.

Another massive thank you to Animal Support OP SHOP for putting $1500 towards this load and $1000 towards our last you guys have been amazing when we have put a call out. Please pop in and support them and get yourself some amazing bargains knowing your money is going to supporting rescues like ours.

As always our trusted truck driver Glenn's Heavy Recovery & Towing for making deliveries when we have called. Having your tilt truck makes drop off so mich easier as we unfortunately don't have access to a tractor.

We thank all our supporters and followers for helping In any way they can every little thing from donations to sharing a post help spread the word and make what we do possible.

Sand Colic Part 2

Prevention

When it comes to taking care of your horse, it's always best to prevent issues before they arise. A good sand management plan tailored to your horse, property, and their living and eating arrangements is key. Here are some tips to consider when putting together your sand management plan:

- Try to avoid feeding your horse on sand whenever possible. If you can't avoid it completely, using a rubber mat that's regularly cleaned can help reduce sand buildup.

- Make sure to provide plenty of fibre in your horse's diet. Hay is a great option, but you can also consider adding sources like beet pulp, soy, or lupin hulls. Fibre not only helps with digestion and keeping the colon moving, but it also helps horses feel fuller for longer, reducing the temptation to nibble on sand.

- Consider using psyllium or psyllium-based products intermittently to help reduce sand buildup in some horses. Just remember not to use it for more than 5 days at a time, as the horse's gut microbes can adapt and reduce the effectiveness of removing the sand.

By following these steps and creating a solid sand management plan, you can help keep your horse happy and healthy! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need more advice.

Sand Colic Part 1

So, if your horse has been ingesting larger quantities of sand, it can cause some issues in their intestines. The sand is pretty irritating to the intestinal lining and can lead to diarrhea. It can also weigh down the intestines, causing distension and potential impaction if not addressed. Sometimes the sand can even clump together and form a big enterolith, which can get stuck in the intestines. This whole situation can mess with the normal movement of the intestines and potentially lead to other complications like displacements and volvulus.

When it comes to diagnosing sand ingestion, there are a few tests that can help determine if your horse is dealing with this issue. One test involves diluting faeces with water in a re**al glove, but it's not always the most accurate. X-rays of the abdomen can also be useful in determining the amount of sand present in the intestines, sand can also be heard in the gut with a stethoscope and trained ears

Amy here, we have been seeking good quality local meadow hay and need the public's help

As you may be aware, we are currently facing a critical shortage of hay in and around Albany and WA. The recent bad seasons have significantly impacted hay production, leading to scarcity and high demand. This has also left us with no feed on the ground in our paddocks. Our local stock feeders have been forced to implement restrictions on hay purchases, limiting the number of bales we can acquire at one time due to low numbers and high demand.
We want to emphasize that we do not hold the stock feeders accountable for this situation. Rather, it is a consequence of the adverse weather conditions that have affected hay yields. Despite the obstacles we face, our commitment to providing the best possible care for our rescued equines remains unwavering.

Any contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a meaningful difference in the lives of the horses and ponies who depend on us for their well-being. Your support will enable us to purchase the hay needed to keep our animals healthy and nourished during this challenging time. We have been in direct contact with a farmer that will supply us with 25 large round bales of hay at $180 per bale total being $4500.00 plus delivery.

If you can assist us in any way, please don't hesitate to reach out. Your kindness and generosity are deeply appreciated, and we are truly grateful for your continued support

Volunteer Feeding breakfast hay out to the top paddock this morning.

The horses who are in this paddock are the retired seniors, companion off the track ex race horses.
We have a very large number of ex race horses who are old or have injuries that make them unridable.

Unfortunately we can not take on any more horses or seniors as we don't have the funding available.

Most of our horses in this paddock had been rescued with rehoming being the goal Unfortunately for many reasons they are not able to.

Sadly we will not take on senior just to have for retirement if this was the case they would be taking the spot of a horse who is in urgent need of help that can go through Rehabilitation and rehomed. We have had a massive amount of messages of people who have over 22 year olds they want to surrender. As we are limited on funds and room we can not take them in for many reasons atm.

We do ask you as an owner to think about all your options one being humanly put to sleep.
It is a hard thing to do but as animal owners this is sometimes the kindest thing you can do.

We do wish in the future when we have a bigger property and solid funding we can provide a retirement sanctuary for horses to live out there days but until then we are at capacity with our retied/seniors.

Everyone happily eating

King David update.

He has settled into his new home nicely as you can see getting along with his new paddock buddy. For a horse that has gone through alot in his life he really has the biggest heart and shows he trys every day to be the sweetest boy. He got to have a bath the other day and loved it wanted to hold the hole in his mouth most the time.

This is what running a rescue Is all about seeing them at their worst to seeing them in a new forever home happy and healthy because they have been given a chance. It makes all the early starts and late night feedings, all the tears, heart break, love and care so worth it.

We are very pleased to announce David has been ADOPTED.

Many of our followers who are locally know David as the horse that kept getting out and ended up in the rangers yard as a skinny very unhappy boy. With lots of hard work and time David has turned into an incredible little horse even Though his past wasn't something you would want to see any animal go through.

David has come along in leaps and bounds with his health as well as his mental health.

We are very happy to say he passed all his ground requirements. How ever sadly still has food aggressiveness syndrome. But no where as bad as 3 month ago he is working very hard on this and his new family will continue to help him through it. sadly many of the horses who have been starved and abused end up with food aggressiveness some grow out of it but some it sticks with them through life.

We wish him all the best on his new journey and will be keeping a close eye on his progress with many updates to come.

Thank you Carissa and Raymond for following along his progress with us and taking this beautiful boy is.

The horses need hay so we stop at nothing to get it to them.
We are so grateful to have access to some hay we lined up months ago to just get us through the dry months. In the 2 years we have been running we have gone through over 3000 round bales of hay not including the small bales. This current dry season is no different.
One of the biggest cost to our shelter Is hay as we allow the horses to have year round 24/7 hay in the paddock. We have found this is the best way to slowly put weight on the horses and get them to maintain it. When they come in really skinny from lack of feed to small hard feeds spread across the day free pick of hay when ever they want allows them to fill up as they need.

If you would like to help us by donating towards our feed cost please see the bellow details.

Fully tax deductible over $2

A big thank you to Eli for being a part of our team and keeping our babies feet in top shape looking healthy.

We can not thank our external teams enough without them we would not be able to keep the horses in care healthy and happy.

From our farrier team Brad and Eli to our vets, Bowen, PEMF, Chiros, stockfeeds, farmers who supply our hay and so many more.

Ned being a good boy while Eli had to dig rock hard clay out of his feet. When it's hot they stand in the soak.

Happy healthy horse
