🌞 Being vigilant about skincare is just as important in animals as it is in people.
⏳If you notice any unusual lumps, bumps, or skin changes, prompt veterinary attention may make a big difference in the course of action required. Mast cell tumors, squamous cell carcinomas, and melanomas are some of the more common skin tumors seen in small animal practice.
🔎This gorgeous little whippet was presented to Dr. Claire Rose when his very observant owners noticed a small, dark lump under his haircoat at the base of his ear.
⭐️The small size of the mass meant that it could be easily removed and sent for histopathology. Fortunately, the results confirmed that the mass was benign, and no further treatment was required.
🔬If unusual masses are presented once they’ve reached a considerable size, removing anything cancerous with clear margins becomes much more difficult. There is also a greater risk of malignant cells spreading to other parts of the body.
