Subject: Update on Hounds in Homes and My Current Focus
Hounds in Homes
Many of you know, the number of greyhound adoptions through Hounds in Homes has dramatically declined, creating significant stress and challenges for me personally. As a result, I’ve had to step back from my usual pet-sitting commitments to focus on the well-being of the two fosters currently in my care, as well as other foster dogs we are supporting. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, adoptions remain at a standstill.
I want to sincerely apologise if I’ve been slow to respond to calls or emails. Please know it’s not due to lack of care, but the weight of the situation has made it difficult to keep up with everything.
While there are many factors contributing to the lack of adoptions, it’s clear that it’s not just the economy at play. The sad truth is that there are simply too many greyhounds in need of homes, and too many are also being exposed by other means even after leaving the racing industry and in to pet life. This is where my focus is now—getting back on track with successful adoptions.
Once we’ve made some progress here, I will be able to continue with my pet-sitting and other work as before.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support during this challenging time.
