Australian Black Worms

Australian Black Worms Because Your Fish Want The Best! Australian Black Worms are grown on our farm in the North East of Victoria, Australia.

Our philosophy is simple - produce the highest quality, safest product possible and provide the best quality service to meet your needs. The business is family owned and operated and has been serving our customers for more than 25 years. We love hearing from our customers and get a genuine thrill hearing about the improved growth, better breeding or enhanced colours that Australian Black Worms are

renowned for. We take pride in the high quality product we produce. The Australian Black Worms are grown, cleaned and processed entirely indoors (in troughs in large sheds - check out the videos on our site to get a better picture). This means that there is no potential for external pollutants (bird droppings, rats, etc) that many outdoor growers face. Our water is single-pass (not recycled) mountain spring water resulting in an impeccable environment for our worms. We specialise in live black worms and freeze dried black worms. The former, we supply throughout Australia and the latter throughout the world.

We recently received a delivery of live worms at home, and if you receive yours this week and notice a mustard-colored growth, it's actually a type of algae that originates from the natural creek water we pump through our troughs and back into the creek.
Otherwise, the worms are in great condition !

Great news!! Our freeze drier is now up and working flat out. We are starting to fill all of the backorders so please bear with us a little longer before we start taking new orders again.

Unfortunately, our bad luck continues, this week our trusty freeze drier decided to stop working. They tell us we need a new heat exchanger. So until we can source one for this machine, combined with no stock of dried worms, we feel it only fair to our customers to stop taking online orders until we can give them a delivery date.
We do still have live worms, flake and pellets.
We will keep you posted as soon as we know more.

20 April 2024
To our valued customers,
Unfortunately the past 17 months have been very difficult for us at Australian Black Worms. Firstly we had ‘never experienced before’ flooding which moved our creek some distance from its previous location. This negated our gravity fed system and required some time and government approval to install a pump. As this was a very hot time of year, without the correct water flow our production was greatly affected.
Following that, our freeze dry machine had several breakdowns and a new part had to be imported which took close to two months. Once again this affected our production of dried black worm products. We tried very hard to catch up after these issues, but the problems continued with a breakdown of one of our electricity lines, leaving the whole farm without power…..so no pumps, no freeze dry machine, or ability to process product. The broken power line has now been completely replaced.
And last, but not least we have installed yet another pump at the creek to provide better water flow. The result of all these issues is of course a huge drop in our production.
Reluctantly I have to advise you that we will not be able to supply any product until further notice. Sadly, we have no choice but to close supply as we currently do not have enough black worm to process a load in the freeze dry machine.
The constant harvesting to try and fill orders has taken a toll and we must now try and replenish our growing stock so that we can offer supply again as soon as possible. We will be working hard to make this the shortest time, but we are unable to offer any estimate.
Fortunately we have passed the hot weather and the climate is now a better growing situation for the black worms.
I am aware of the significant effect this will have on your business, but ask for your patience and understanding while we try to recover from these unforeseen issues. It is, unfortunately, having a significant effect on our business also.

Kind regards,
Beth Davidson

Due to continued reported losses of our live blackworms, we will hold off in sending out anymore until Mon 5th Feb, in a hope the weather will improve here on the farm.
Our apologies for this inconvenience.
Please consider ordering from our dried worm range as an alternative.

So after a late start, summer has finally hit here on the farm, and around the country. Great for everyone except our poor blackworms. They prefer the cooler temperatures. They are not at their best this time of year. We had a lot of reported losses last week, and come Monday morning, we may decide they are not in a good enough condition to send out. We strongly recommend ordering from our dried range instead and holding off until the temperatures come down.
We pride ourselves in giving our customers the best quality live blackworms. The first pic is what they look like when we pack them, the second is what they become once (even within two days) they become stressed due to heat, even extra ice won't prevent this.
We are asking for your understanding in this difficult time.
