We are proud to confirm that one of our fellow owners Ms Bianca Stone has convincingly won pre-selection to run as a candidate for the Gold Coast seat of Gaven.
Many of you may know her as an award winning journalist that recently resigned from her role on the Seven network as the face of Queensland daily news, to consider her future and also ponder a political career.
Bianca is also the wordsmith who creates our horses race names.
We congratulate Bianca and trust that the stable can provide some upcoming winners whilst she is also enjoying professional victories.
Bravo and good luck….
Great return by Bubba. He missed the start, hampered down the straight…. Yet finished strong. The jockey jumped straight off and said “very unlucky”…. Put this horse over 1400m next start.
The video shows a reduced length of the start, mid race and the final 40)m. Have also included the official race photo showing 2.4 length margin and then the head on of final 200m
Reviewed the race many times, the start was the difference, if he jumped and held a top 4 spot - we would have been hard to run down. Stick with us for next start.
It’s been a good 24 hours for the stable with bubba [NORWEGIAN SPIRIT] showing the ability we know he has, in winning the jump out [carrying “70 kgs] at Bendigo by 2+ lengths. He really responded to the riding tactics and was a different horse with the addition of blinkers for the first time.
We will keep him ticking along and find the right race in the next 10-14 days.
Great Effort by Timmy [TIMBOLTON] to fly home for 3rd place at Ballarat.
Our favourite girl TILLY [Firm as a Rock] has made it into a special race for $100,000 on Good Friday at Yarra Valley.
More info will be posted tomorrow, the stable is excited we made the field of 12 runners ✔️
Timmy did not appreciate the drop in tempo from the 1000m and was fighting fir his head until the 800m. Looked a threat entering the straight and finished with the main bunch in midfiekd.
We just love Tilly - always pins her ears back and gives 100%…..
Firm as a Rock was one of the early leaders and the only one of them that fought onto the end, finishing a close 1.5 lengths off the winner.
Great ride by Mitch Aitken [Young Tom Prebble was committed to ride at Yarra Valley today] and it was another great run by Tilly.
Not only a good young rider…. A really nice kid who is on the way up - happy to be associated with young Tom Prebble
A very close 2nd….
You have to love Tilly [she just gives her all]. We were shuffled way back on the rails, however young Tom Prebble weaved his way through and almost stole the race.
Great effort Tilly
Improved effort by Timmy, unfortunately missed the jump and used some juice to take up a forward position.
They ran a class record…….
We have been stiff to run into 2 black type runners at start 1 and now these first 2 at start number 2. Feeling great about the time they ran today and only 3 lengths off third [another horse that Hayes stable have high opinions of]. Well done team.
The jockey said Bubba resented being urged out the barriers [you can see that on the short combined clip below].
We will get our race soon - stick with him, just very unlucky with the opposition in both races so far, however he will benefit from the exposure to that class.
Post 3 of 3:
Bubba is in the top video again and crosses the line ahead of the competitors at Ararat or Kyneton - based on the last 400m sectional.
Its the luck of the draw and we were in a hot race at Yarra Valley and we would expect it to be a tough one at Sandown, all we can hope for is a better tempo we we can build some momentum into the last 400m.
Good luck everyone - at those odds, well worth $1 each way.
Post 2 of 3:
Bubba is in the top video and crosses the line ahead of two favourites at Sandown tomorrow in the middle video and then would have won the Benalla race today in the bottom video - based on the last 400m sectional.
Introducing the new addition/s to our breeding and racing program - arriving Wednesday.
This is our new Snitzel broodmare - named SNITZCHER shown below in the short video with her weanling filly at foot by stallion Holler - her name is Holly. SNITZCHER’s first runner has won or placed in 9 of 13 - his name is Due Diligence, here he is running at Sunshine Coast yesterday and finishing 3rd on a heavy 10 track.
Holly will be weaned in a couple of months and then settle out at Emma’s paddock.
Watch closely and listen to the commentary….. beyond control and unfortunate - the saddle slipped as you can see early on in the video and young Tom Prebble lost his irons before the home turn.
He had no control of Tilly and virtually rode on her neck down the straight [you can see as they crossed the line]
Timmy just cant take a trick….. drawn barrier 15, the jockey eased him to b midfield [unfortunately no speed up front in the race as was expected]. Timmy just fought with the jockey for 800 mtrs and was throwing his head around - forget the run.
Bubba [NORWEGIAN SPIRIT] will learn a lot from today.
Missed the start, took up the running line along the rails [i think he resented being inside horses]
Unfortunately they crawled early, so it was a cold tempo to a sprint home from the 400m….. he was never a chance finishing 6th.
BUBBA [Norwegian Spirit] makes his long awaited debut tomorrow at Yarra Valley, unfortunately he ends up against 3 smart horses, one of them having raced in last years Blue Diamond.
As you may have read here on a previous post, it’s an emotional day for all of us as we bred/raised BUBBA and nursed him through some difficult early years in a calliper with a deformed leg, it’s almost a miracle that he has made it to the track.
As his mother [our broodmare CHEVYS STAR] is a 1/2 to group winning juvenile UATE [he was 3rd highest ranked 2yo behind SEPOY and HELMET in his year], we felt Bubba would still have commercial value, however Inglis and Magic Millions laughed at us, so we tested him online which resulted in one late offer, so Emma then bought him back online at the last minute so we could keep him to race.
The first breaker/educator we sent him to also laughed and said the horse was hopeless and we were wasting our time. Well the Donaldson stubbornness, plus the love/horsemanship from Graham and Em ensured that he was given every chance and now….. he makes his debut as a racehorse - a really proud moment for all of us.
Regardless of how he runs or where he finishes - I just hope for a safe return off the track and we can go onwards and forward to more starts and a new found belief of a successful career.
Watch his trials - he is improving everyday and i’m sure he will run a good race.
Good luck everyone…..
Courageous effort by Timmy to cross from wide and set the pace of the race, he just faded to finish with a bunch of horses contesting 4th place.
