It’s with the heaviest of hearts to bring news that Captain Pawz will no longer be in operation.

My dream has always been to work with animals, and for those I’ve been so blessed to care for will always have a spot in my heart. I have LOVED working with you. I have treated and think of your fur-babies as my own.

My heart is truly broken over this, and to say I’m devastated is an understatement. But a shift in personal circumstances leads me to a new chapter.

Through Captain Pawz, I’ve made the most wonderful friends and will be eternally grateful to have met each and every one of you. With every ounce of my being, I truly hope to maintain a relationship with you all.

This week, I’ve let my close clients know, and have had some emotional conversations. Your support of Captain Pawz, and equally my future is so incredibly appreciated. Sadly, next week will be my last.

I’m guttered, and it’s taken me a few weeks to make this public. It’s simply been too hard a reality.

With shaking hands, and a face full of tears, thank you. Thank you to each and every person who has trusted me with their beloved fur-family.

Dear Friends

Every October, I cycle to raise money for kids with cancer.

It’s called the Great Cycle Challenge (GCC). I have just had news that one of the little ambassadors, Emily, passed away last week at the young age of 7, which has prompted me to put up this post.

I personally ride in honour of my cousin, Matty, who was diagnosed at 6 years of age and passed away at 11. Watching him deteriorate absolutely broke me. This horrible disease doesn’t discriminate.

His parents and little sister endured so much heartache in that time. Watching your child through countless bouts of chemo and steroid therapy, only to bid him a final goodbye, is simply unimaginable. His mother sadly couldn’t cope with Matty’s loss and took her life a few years later.

So, for the remainder of October I will not invoice any clients rather request a pledge towards this amazing organisation. As little or as much as anyone would like. (Don’t worry, I’m already poor 😂) Using the link below, you can see my progress and make your pledge.

I love caring for beautiful Buddy. He is such a sweetheart. ❤️ I’ve had a terrible flu the past few days and having Buddy boy here makes me feel so much better. Truly the best medicine a gal could have.

My Poppy gets super jealous because I’m sure she can feel my love for him. But, she simply has to deal (Caleb remains indifferent, he hates everyone equally - typical chi chi). 😂

Not sure if his mumma will let me, but I really, really want to keep him! 🙏

Whoa! What a crazy week of 🔥 weather, which has meant early starts and reshuffling walkies to suit Mother Nature’s calendar. It’s also prompted me to reshare one of my famous (not) factoids.

Captain Pawz Factoid #3 (Factoid Definition; stuff Nessy makes up and not to be taken as professional advice) 😆

Lately, we’ve been blessed with some amazing weather, and it’s only going to get hotter. So I thought I’d share some ‘no brainer’ dodgy walking tips with ya’ll.

* Asphalt/pavers/concrete - feel it yourself! If it’s too hot for you, it’s definitely too hot for little pawzies. 🔥

* Hydration - there are some pretty nifty water storage/portable bowls on the market these days. They are compact and easy to carry. Keep your doggo’s whistle wet while you walk and avoid dehydration. 💦

* Bees - we’ve talked the walk (Factoid #1) and sussed out the sniff (Factoid #2), while doing both, I stay super vigilant to ensure that there are no bees around which could potentially sting curious little noses. 🐝

* Snakes - okay, this I take ridiculously seriously. Avoid long grass as much as possible. Every summer, I’ve noticed an increase in snake sightings. A friendly, over excited pupper may think it’s a toy and bolt over to play. I am always on guard and avoid areas where snakes may be present. 🐍

* Ticks - these guys are potential killers. Please ensure your pupper is up to date with their treatments. I avoid bushy areas where ticks are most likely to be lurking, and waiting to catch onto a furry friend. 😈

* Bindis - Yuck! No one likes them. Especially puppies. They get stuck between their little paw pads and make walking really uncomfortable. I go as far as carrying my clients through areas which are heavily populated with them. Avoid, circle around and remove immediately if affected. 🦗

* Magpies and Plover’s - THE WORST! And pretty hard to avoid. Duck and run for cover! Do not avoid bindis in this instance! 🦅

If Charlie doesn’t stop it with his ridiculous handsomeness, I’m going to run out of treats preetttyyy quickly! 😂

This is the same little nervous guy I could barely go near. Now, as he hears my car pull up, goes absolutely wild with joy! I’ve loved watching his confidence grow. No longer are there anxious pauses on our walkies, he simply takes it in his stride. He knows I’ve got his back and would never let anything happen to him. I’ve gained his trust… which is so incredibly special.

Once again, another example of the resilience of animals. I learn so much from each and every one. ❤️

This week has been overwhelmingly special and I feel so blessed to have the most amazing people around me. 🙏🫶

Today was meant to be Kyle’s last day of work placement with me (that 6 weeks went by far too quickly), but with Kyle’s love of animals, passion for Captain Pawz and now the experience, I’m thrilled to say that Kyle will be staying with me on a casual basis. ❤️ Thank you Kyle and Stephanie for my beautiful flowers, chocolates and certificate. The honour and pleasure is truly mine. Oh, and your uniforms are en route! Whoop!

Jack’s beautiful mummy, Aimee, so thoughtfully gifted me with this amazing cap! I get picked on quite a bit for always using the word ‘walkies’ (picked on in a fun way), so I had to laugh. But, I can assure you that it WILL get a lot of wear. 😃 I bloody LOVE it!

Nessie’s Mumma got me another practical gift, that too, will get plenty of use. A p**p bag clip! 😂 There is nothing worse than carting around bags full of doggy p**p - problem now solved!

Further to this, thank you for texts ‘checking in’. Your kindness, compassion and consideration does not go unnoticed.

For 4 days, this little dude has been a fixture in my home. I still keep expecting him to come bounding towards me at any moment. But alas, his mumma bear wanted him back. 😭

I can’t be too sad, though, because I get to see him tomorrow! 🙌

How absolutely crazy is today’s weather?! 🌧️☀️💨 I can’t tell you how long I’ve spent in the car waiting for a lull. Then the lull comes and each time, the rain would hit whilst walking!

Don’t get me wrong, we need the rain, but the inconsistency today was as bad as Vladimir Putin’s mood swings! (Please don’t hunt me down, Mr Putin… I really am a good person) 😂

Right now, I have a monster headache and am clearly delirious.

Anyway, we managed to get through all of our walkies bar one, which I will make up for tomorrow.

Jazzy, with eyes like gemstones! As much as I adore her human mumma, I love it when she and the fam bam go away. Because then I get her all to myself! 😍

Jazzy does the cutest little wiggle bottom dance when I arrive, and then adorns me with cuddles and kisses. I’ve told her mum that I may very well steal her this time! My heart literally goes gooey when I’m with her. I feel like our souls are connected; but Jazzy is so beautiful that I’m sure she makes everyone feel that way. ❤️

Today, I’m a little bit sad and it’s as though Ari knew. She showered me with mega cuddles and kisses. Being with her this morning made me so happy. Her upbeat demeanour is a definite mood shifter!

My goodness, Jeff. I cannot put into words how much I love him. Despite his age and disability, he has so much zest for life!

Jeff has made me reflect on my own humility. He doesn’t need much, he asks for nothing. He is simply gentle, sweet and shows his gratitude through affection.

I will miss Jeff, and will definitely pop in to say G’day! His human mumma has already told me that Jeff has ordered them to go on another vacay! Now that, makes me feel very special indeed. ❤️

I’m absolutely loving my weekly outings with gorgeous Coopa! 💙

Whilst he has a significant limp due to his arthritis, his gusto for life does not waiver. I love him so much already, and just want to take it away from him and bear it in his place. His resilience is infectious.

He is so utterly spoilt and every possible measure is taken by his dadda and nanna to make him comfortable. His home cooked dinners are definitely better than anything I eat! Hmmm, I wonder if they’ll adopt me, too. 🤷‍♀️
