Last night Matt piloted the Queen of Reining to Co-Champion in the Hanns Horse Transport NRHA Open on a 143 along side Queenslander Scott Hergest. The boys opted not to run off with a big week still ahead for their horses.

Big thanks to our great friend Tony Mitchell for the opportunity to ride this once in a lifetime horse. Thankyou to our families, friends and the SL Team for the constant support. Thanks to the class sponsor and Judges and Scribes.

WOW! What a weekend! From mastering the fundamentals of reining manoeuvres to chasing lots & lots of cute cows 👏🐮🥳 - our March Mila clinic was SO much fun! So a huge thank you to Andrea Charles & Bec Burns for the FAB photos & to Matt Charles of Sliding Lodge Performance Horses for his terrific tuition & endless wisdom all weekend! And of course, a huge congrats to all our clinic participants for stepping up 👏🌟🐴 & kicking goals at every turn! We’re doing it all again on the October long weekend, with a public holiday Team Penning to follow Matt’s two day clinic - but you’ll need to book in fast to secure your spot! 🤠👏🐴

Heads up! 🐴🐮 If you’re looking to give your horsemanship & reining skills a BOOST this year, we have a couple of rider spots left in our upcoming Matt Charlies Reining & Cow horse Fundamentals CLINIC to be held at Mila Livestock Learning and Events on SATURDAY MARCH 23 AND SUNDAY MARCH 24, 2024 (with some optional RANCH SORTING FUN ON SATURDAY NIGHT!) This will be one of Matt’s Sliding Lodge Performance Horses first clinics back in Australia after his incredible training experiences in the US with Shawn Flarida Reiners. So, to create the perfect balance between horsemanship, reining skills and some fun cattle work, our March 23/24 Matt Charles clinic will commence from 8am on the Saturday (with a max. of 6 riders in two clinic groups) – and both groups will receive TWO lessons on Saturday AM and SAT PM. We’re also looking to host an OPTIONAL RANCH/TEAM SORTING FUN EVENT ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON, from approx. 3pm. This event is strictly capped at 30 riders & Clinic riders will get first ‘dobs’ on spots! Wishing Matt Charles Sliding Lodge Performance Horses all the best for his US adventures 🌟🤠👏 & we’re looking forward to hosting Matt at Mila on October 21 & 22 - as well as 🤞🙏 plans for his return to Mila Livestock Learning & Equine Events in late March 2024! We are very excited for Matt to be returning to the USA in January 2024 for another stint with none other than the incredible Shawn Flarida Reiners!!! 🤩

Matt spent time with Shawn in late 2019 and Shawn has had a HUGE impact on our program here at Sliding Lodge as well as Matt's riding as both a trainer and a showman. Shawn is a kind and humble teacher and friend and we are forever grateful for his continued guidance and support and are over the moon to be returning to Ohio. 🥰

Matt is booked out for the remainder of 2023 and we are currently taking bookings for our 2024 calendar and are available from early March. We have a huge schedule of shows for the 2024 season and with many clinics already booked, be sure to get in quick to see Matt in your area in the new year!
