Relieved to announce that Clara is NOT pregnant; she has a phantom pregnancy (yes that’s a thing!) and now needs to go on a diet and lose 15kgs

Violet however is expecting “at least 8 puppies”
according to the Xray however my bet is still on double digits. More news in the days to come!!

Now that I’m over the shock I’m happy to announce that there is another expectant mother! Having cut down Clara‘s feeds after her last litter, I was getting concerned when she didn’t seem to lose her baby weight. She’s raided the pantry several times including eating 2 kilos of white potatoes! I kept her inside during her last heat religiously locking her in my bedroom when I went out. She was rarely out of my sight so I have no idea if Fergus is the father or Casper is the father. One of them has obviously jumped the dog gates to come and pay Clara a visit. My bet is Fergus but we won’t know until the puppies are born. I will get her scanned on September 4 with Violet and come the middle of September my household will become 101 Labrador puppies!

20/08/2024

Violet and Casper‘s pregnancy is confirmed! Violet will have a check Xray on 4 September in the week before this litter are due. Hopefully we will get all colours but you never know… A little bit about Violet. She comes from the wonderful Marsagan Labradors; working bloodlines originating from the Scottish highlands. 2 year old Violet has a soft and gentle temperament, is very affectionate and is just a gorgeous dog. Her baby daddy Casper is 18 months old and also from another Brisbane breeder. He’s a highly intelligent American Labrador. He loves to play but is very biddable and excellent around children and other dogs. He has a lovely lithe physique typical of the American working lines. He and Violet are 2 of my beloved family pets. They have had their hip and elbow scoring and DNA testing done and their pedigree papers are available for viewing. If you are interested in putting your name down for one of these beautiful puppies, I can contact you when the litter has been safely delivered. The puppies will be fully vaccinated, Microchipped DNA tested for parentage confirmation and their limited register Pedigree papers will be provided within six months of litter registration. The DNA results are taking several weeks so it impacts the litter registration with Dogs QLD. I am a Brisbane based breeder living in The Gap. Home visits to meet the parents and phone enquiries welcome!! Puppies are $2500 including pedigree papers. They’re strictly NOT for breeding.

Interesting article about childhood food allergies. Still searching for something similar about animal allergies!

Interesting article about childhood food allergies. Still searching for something similar about animal allergies!

Vitamin D levels, sanitation, diet and migration patterns are all thought to play a role. But there are trials under way to develop new strategies to prevent food allergies

Good morning Dog lovers. Im sure all of you were as horrified as I was to read about the Labradoodle breeder being closed in Tasmania recently. The RSPCA was flooded with Foster Carer applications for these dogs who have all been safely allocated to new owners or carers.

I have contacted Dogs QLD to request a position statement from them however as these dogs are technically poodle crossed with other breeds they’re not regulated by the state authorities. Obviously it can expose the dogs to unscrupulous breeding practices although I know there are many conscientious breeders out there.

Obviously I’d like to consider myself one of those breeders and having babysat a friends Labradoodle puppy recently, I finally understood the allure of the oodle! The non-shedding coat is really wonderful HOWEVER lots of maintenance. Also size is a consideration. Best to have a dog big enough not to trip over but big enough not to knock you over! Hence why I’ve tried to breed smaller Labradors but mother nature often has her own ideas!

Having said that all that, i’m exploring perhaps including a Labradoodle in my breeding program. I have enough dogs of my own at home, so I would be delighted to hear from anyone out there who would consider being a guardian family for a Labradoodle puppy or two in the coming months. I have lots of due diligence to do etc. but I’m actively looking. Please feel free to contact me if you have any queries.

Good Morning Labrador Lovers. I’m calling for expressions of interest for Betty and Fergus’s first litter later this year. Betty is a 2 year old light golden and Fergus a 4yo Black lab. I think their combined temperaments will make for a very affectionate intelligent biddable companion animal/family pet. Of course we all know as puppies we sometimes despair of them ever maturing but luckily we love them so much we forgive them every chewed shoe or hole dug in the garden…. Here are photos of them as adults and puppies. Please get in touch if you are planning on adding to your family in 2024

For those who are interested, to follow are Casper’s (baby daddy) parents pedigree papers. Lots of champion USA bloodlines in there which explains a lot. He’s a lovely young dog. Very smart and eager to learn.

And then there were 4…..

Nalo (Elvis) Ninja (Elmo) Molly (Eliza) and Athena (Elsie) have all gone home.

02/04/2024

Delighted to announce that Elroy (orange collar) now BUDDY has found a family! 2 little girls are very excited. Plus mum and dad too of course….

In preparation for your Puppies arrival at home may I suggest that you get some ….

FOOD. I have your puppy on hypro premium, grain free, puppy kibble still premoistened. www.pawpantry.com.au which is delivered free of charge. It is $120 for a 20kg bag however I can order some for you to take home with your puppy. You will get my breeders discount of 30% Please give me a call to discuss this. I also give the puppies lactose free milk as well as clean water (every few hours) as they do like to play in it.

SLEEP TIME I recommend trying to find a plastic toy enclosure as pictured in my videos as the panels are easily kept clean, and the Puppies can’t jump out of the enclosure. I have found mine on Facebook marketplace, Gumtree and at garage sales. Kmart also has some inexpensive wire but I have found I needed some five dollar clamps from Bunnings to secure it closed. Otherwise the puppies tend to jump out of it. Bargain city and the reject shop. Also send soft Enclosures but I think they’re only good for tiny little puppies as I have found now that mine can jump out of it at night. Quite entertaining running around the house at night, stepping in Puppy, wee and trying to get Puppies to go back to sleep!

POTTY TRAINING. Inside the playpen at about four weeks, Puppies tend to gravitate towards one end of the playpen to toilet. This is where I have newspaper under the kylie sheets and it is much easier to remove the waste. Plus, your puppy might think it’s a good idea to eat or play with the Poo, so I usually have some supermarket catalogues to drop on top of the poo if it has already been squashed into the newspaper. your puppy is intelligent, and if you work with Puppy consistently toilet, training will be accomplished easily.

TOYS, Puppies love to chew! So pre loved soft toys and new dishcloths are easily washed in the machine! Kmart has a great range of pet products but beware; puppy will still chew the new stuff! The op shops have plenty of soft toys, but avoid the beanie babies as inevitably the puppies chew through them.

DNA testing results to confirm. Parentage are taking several weeks through Orivet at the moment. This will delay the submission of the litter registration with Dogs Queensland and thus your pedigree papers will take quite some time to arrive so be patient.

WORMING: check with your vet but I prefer oral working tablets. I use Ranvet. I have a detailed information sheet I will email new owners in advance of puppy collection.

PEDIGREE certificates. As an ethical Breeder, I do not breed Labradors so that others can breed from them, and thus your Puppy will come with limited registration with Dogs, Australia, and I will ask you to sign a declaration stating that you do not intend to breed your dog.

SUPPORT. Please know you can phono any time to troubleshoot. I’m up at 4am but asleep by 8! If you have a change of mind, you are welcome to return Puppy minus the deposit you paid, unless the circumstances are extenuating,

Today, we have tried dry kibble for the first time. It wasn’t altogether successful, so Human mummy had to soften some kibble for us to eat. Unfortunately, two of us ate too much and then threw up. It’s a Labradors life…
