What do I need to tell my sitter? When reaching out, please have answers to these common questions ready!
1. Type and breed of animal
2. Toilet habits and location (i.e. walk, litter tray). Have they ever toileted on furniture, carpet or bedding?
3. Are vaccines all up to date?
4. How good is their recall to name call?
5. Meal times: what type and how much food, and whether you give treats throughout the day.
6. Is the pet well, if not what health concerns or injuries does it have, are there any medication to give, if so what type, what itās for and dosages and times.
7. Any allergies?
8. Who is your preferred vet and who is your preferred after hours emergency vet? Do you have pet health insurance? Is your pet microchipped and registered with Brisbane City Council?
9. Where does the pets go when no one is home eg: outside/crate/laundry etc
10. Are there any out of bounds areas the pet canāt go or situations they can't be exposed to?
11. Can the pet be left unsupervised in the house for example when Iām showering or collecting mail etc.
12. Any specific routes for walking, how long and how far, how many times a week etc.
13. What are they like when you grab their lead, what are they like when you first get out the door, and what are the like walking in general?
14. What are they like in the car if they need to go to the vet?
15. Pets temperament: are they shy or anxious, have they ever been aggressive, do they have bad habits like scratching, chewing furniture?
16. Have they ever escaped from the yard, or ever run off if front door was accidentally left open?
17. What are they like when people, like delivery drivers etc come to the front door, do they need to be put outside or locked in another room before answering door.
18. Do they sleep on the bed? If not what are their normal sleeping arrangements
19. Has the pet ever had someone else look after it before and how was their behavior?
