Deargban Border Collies We compete in showing, obedience, agility, tracking, luring and frisbee. Once you have a Border Collie, you don't look back!

The Border Collie is a breed of dog that I have always been interested in - in fact it is the only breed I have ever wanted to own. I chose the red and white (ee) Border Collie as I personally feel they are a great looking dog, with all the great qualities of the Border Collie as well as being extremely handsome. In 2005, I was lucky enough to contact Lani Mercer of Jessomine Border Collies and my very special red and white lady, Ember, came into my life and changed it for ever.

What a weekend at the Dogs Queensland Tracking, and Track and Search Sub-Committee Inaugural TSD State Championships on the 27-29 June. It was an amazing weekend and I was honoured to be the Trial Manager. Everyone helped each other out and the support over the weekend was amazing! Thank you to the little Tracking village - you guys rock!

I am truly excited and overwhelmed by how my two performed last night - Sienna and Sean did me proud and just rocked their tracks! I truly can’t believe the results from last night and what that means.

Sienna on her TSD10 track was awarded an Excellent under Judge Rosemary Sehl for her TSD Grand Champion!!!!!! OMG Although a little bittersweet as she is now at her peak and there is no more sport for her.

She will now be known as TS Grand Champion, TD Champion TSD Champion Trucharm The Edge of Love SWN (DQ pending)

Sean on his TSD8 track was awarded an Excellent under Judge Rosemary Sehl for his TSD Champion!!!!!

He will now be known as TS Champion Deargban The Edge Of Love SWN TD (DQ pending).

I still can’t believe it - what a weekend and what amazing dogs I have.

Thank you to everyone who helped me along the way, who worked with me on tracks, who supported me on this crazy early morning and evening dog sport. You all rock! Carmel Vierow - thank you my little training buddy!

Thank you to Kimmie Brett and Giles for the photos!

A week ago, I had a lovely weekend at the Caboolture Sports Dog Obedience Club Tracking Trial at Tansey.

Friday morning, Sean attempted his TD4 level track and passed with a Grade “Pass” under judge Annette Dobson. Thank you to my Tracklayer Kellie Ann and steward Karan Griffiths who was able to save Sean from the scary cows!

I also had the honour of judging a few dogs over the weekend and it was so special to see these dogs work the tracks and find the tracklayers. Thank you to everyone who assisted me over the weekend and to Lesley Affleck and everyone who organised the trial for a great weekend!

For those not in the know 😁 A TD4 is:
✅ track an unknown person for approximately 1,000 metres
✅ have a minimum of four changes of direction (turns)
✅ time lapse for when the dog goes out after the Tracklayer must be minimum of 60 minutes and maximum of 120 minutes.
✅ three articles will be placed on the track and the dog must indicate at least 2. (Sean did have pesky cows that moved two articles).

Two weekends ago, I went away on the weekend for the Inaugural Fawley Trial for the Evergreen Dog Training.

Sean competed in his TD3 and padded with a score of Good under judge Heather Northover. He now has his TD title (pending DQ).

He did a great job, even when he was in pain due to spear grass. I’m proud of him.

For those who don’t know - a TD3 is when:
✅ The dog is required to track an unknown person for approximately 800 metres.
✅ There are a minimum of two turns (changes of direction).
✅ Two articles must be placed on the track, with the dog indicating at least one - Sean sat on both!
✅ the minimum time for the dog to go out after the track was laid is 30 mins.

Thank you to my Tracklayer Michele Cook and Steward Craig Northover.

My beautiful Sienna got a qualie in her Interiors last night to get her Scentwork Novice Title at the Caboolture Sports Dog Obedience Club Scentwork Trial under Judge Kellie Gunnis.

She’s now TSCh TCH Trucharm The Edge Of Love SWN (DQ pending)

We still need to get her final Containers and Vehicles (her nemesis) to finish the novice elements. But with Kellie’s advice last night, we’re a step forward (I need to keep moving). Thank you for your guidance Kellie!

Thanks to my carpark companions for a lovely night!

Last weekend at the Caboolture Sports Dog Obedience Club Track and Search Trial, Sean competed for his TSD7 (hard to believe he’s gone through this quickly).

I’m proud to say he was a good boy, even though he encountered a fire truck on his first corner (just turning), at least 3 cats, a couple of plovers and lots of men in high-vis! He earned himself a grade of Good under judge Helen Williams.

Thank you to everyone who helped this morning, but especially to my Tracklayer Julie Hamilton, handler safety steward Georgina Lofting (who has an amazing talent of seeing cats), second safety steward and first timer Trish, and Tracklayer safety steward Joanne Radics and Helen Lofthouse. And especially the Trial Secretary and my Steward Lesley Affleck.

It takes a village for this sport, but it’s so nice to see everyone supporting each other!

Hard to believe my first litter was 17 years ago, with a beautiful litter of 5 girls from Ember and Reed.

Sadly we lost Gemma and Keira (a couple of months apart) when they were 13 but they will always be in my heart ❤️🤍🖤🤍

A belated birthday wishes to my little blondie, Reese - Trucharm Legally Blonde on what would have been her 15th Birthday on the 24th.

On the weekend, Sienna competed in her TD9 Track at the All Breeds Tracking Club Tracking Trial. We were originally balloted out but were able to get back in, so we headed down to Cedar Grove to have a go.

I have to say, I’m sooo proud of my little girl who worked so hard for 45 mins with a strong wind coming from the hides direction, she had to work every corner and I think she was one step away from being called a few times. She only looked at the cross tracks (her first time with a cross track with a dog), she found a pond to swim in, something to roll in, a bog to get her handler stuck in but in the end, she found the Tracklayer Kayleen and judge Jessica Stainlay awarded her a Pass. Thank you to everyone involved in the track, from judge, Tracklayer and steward Jenny Healey, I greatly appreciate it. Photo of the team, with the ground of her track in the background. Thanks Kimmie Brett for the photos and following behind - she made it interesting for you.

For those interested a TD9 is:

✅ approximately 1,200 metres in length
✅ 8 changes of direction with 3 of the turns being acute
✅ 4 articles on the track
✅ two cross tracks laid by one unknown person and a dog walking together
✅ the time lapse between the Tracklayer walking the track and the dog going out, must be a minimum of 2.5 hours and a maximum of 3.5 hours. (I think we went out around the 2 hours 45–50 mins).

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mum or the ones who step in to lend a hand 😁💜

What an amazing start to the Tracking season in South East Queensland with the Inaugural Tracking Trial at Tansey hosted by Bundaberg Canine Club Inc..

A huge thank you to Geoff and Alison Cunningham who put an amazing trial together which ran smoothly and was an enjoyable 4 days. The club hats are sensational and the rosettes are gorgeous 💗💝

On Friday, my boy Sean competed on his TD2 and achieved a Good under judge Annette Kirkwood. Thank you to the amazing known Tracklayer Carmel Vierow and steward Fiona Clarke. Sean was very excited about being in the paddocks and finding Carmel - when he’s on track, you really know it!

On Sunday, I competed with Sienna on her TD8. We started with a stampede of cattle and the judge even took the start flag and put herself between the cattle and Sienna. But Sienna was unfazed by them which I am very lucky for as I know it would have blown a lot of dogs. She worked really really hard and had to work on her acutes. She took the cross track on the last leg but luckily put her head up just in time to say nope, the Tracklayer is not that way. She then got herself back on track to find Kellie Ann! Her judge Annette Kirkwood and Shadow judge/Steward Shirley Bull gave her a Very Good. Meaning that she is a Tracking Champion!!! Pictured in the hide with Shirley’s shadow also included - a fantastic group! Thank you to all.

4 years has come to fruition- with her gaining her Track and Search Champion last month and now her Tracking Champion - pending DQ approval.

She is now:

💗 TSCh TCh Trucharm The Edge Of Love

I am soo proud of her (and Sean). An absolutely wonderful weekend. A huge thank you to everyone who attended, helped, judged, organised, tracklaid and stewarded - it takes a Village bit it soo worth it. I saw so many other amazing dogs who just loved being out there and doing their job. It’s such a wonderful sport.

I think I did nearly 30kms of walking so tonight I’m just resting.

Recently the babies Rosie and Mintie were able to spend some time with their dad Austin/Aussie along with their “big sister” Gracie (Gracie is from my 2010 litter from Ember and JD).

What a gorgeous family, if I don’t say so myself. 😁
