My handsome boy Sean who is a big softie also did well at the Scentwork State Championships. ok, so a little outshined by his sister but I’m still very proud of him!

He obtained 2 Qualies over the weekend in Novice so with 3 competitions (BC National Australia, a small Exterior Trial and the States) he has:

✅ 3 x Qualies in Exteriors
✅ 2 x Qualies in Interiors

I think vehicles and containers will be a bit of the nemesis but I have faith that he will get it once his confidence in the job grows, and his handler (me) gets to know the sport more.

Very proud of my boy.

Excited to announce that after 2 competitions (BC National Australia and the Scentwork State Championships): Tiffany has achieved her Scentwork Novice title (DQ Pending) - with 7 Qualies of her 8 runs (we still have to get her second Containers qualie).

Not a bad start to her Scentwork career.

I want to thank her expert handlers! Kellie Ann who handled her all weekend for the States for 4/4 and then Ann-Marie Boyd and Kimmie Brett who handled her at the BC Nationals - really appreciate it - thank you to the Sniffany Team 🙏💗

I’m so proud of this little girl who just takes everything in her stride while making everyone fall in love with her.

I can’t wait to see what next year brings.

Last weekend was Scentwork State Championships and on Day 1 (Friday) both Sean and Tiffany obtained Qualies under judge Barb Murfert. Tiffany in 10.09 seconds and Sean in 1.13.50 - yep it took Sean over an extra minute to overcome his nerves and focus.

But Sean did earn the Judges Choice Award from Barb 💗

Thank you to Kellie Ann for expertly handling Tiffany.

Happy 13th Birthday to my disaster litter: Abbey (nee Storm), Ember Junior (nee Cyclone), Holly (nee Tsunami), Marley (nee Quake), Ruby (nee Avalanche) and Scottie (nee Bushfire/Firie). (They are not all with us any longer but always in our hearts)

I’m so grateful to have had Scottie and Abbey in my life - even if it was too short.

I remember that week so much back in 2011. I was working in disasters and on the 27/28 October did an all nighter getting the emergency website ready then straight home to do an all nighter with Gemma’s first litter. And what a gorgeous litter it was

A lovely Thursday evening spent at the Dogs QLD Obedience Scent Work Sub Committee Scentwork trial. Sean and I headed down for his second trial but this trial, he had me handling him.

Sean obtained a Qualie for Novice Exteriors under judge Kim Dawson with Shadow Judges Kellie Ann and Grace Koh. Thank you for a great search!

Sean was awarded an Encouragement Award 🥰 and loves his little pumpkin. We just need to build his confidence and get stronger indications.

Thanks to my sister, Heather who dropped off Sean and Tiffany at Durack as I was coming straight from conducting a tutorial. Really appreciate it. 🙏💕 Tiffany didn’t compete, just came to support her brother.

I was honoured to be the last Track and Search track of the season last weekend, and Sean did us proud, finishing off the season in style!

We competed this weekend at the Evergreen Dog Training TSD trial and Sean was awarded a grade of Excellent, on his TSD5 with Judge Helen Lofthouse. He did an awesome job so very proud of him. Thank you to:
🙏 Kym Helena for being a great Tracklayer
🙏 Cherie Larissa for a great Handler Safety Steward
🙏 Lesley Affleck for being my steward

Poor Tiffany wasn’t feeling the best and it showed as she wasn’t herself with her TSD3. But I was so pleased that the 2 hour aged track didn’t affect her ability. Thank you to:
🙏 Yvonne
Rittmannsberger for being a great Tracklayer
🙏 Frank Oppermann for a great Handler Safety Steward
🙏 Cherie Larissa for being my steward

I’m excited by next year and what my dogs will do 😁

I also want to thank all the tracklayers, stewards, helpers, and everyone who supported and assisted this weekend. A great way to finish the season off - thank you. We couldn’t do the trials without you.

Last weekend, Tiffany enjoying some more adventures after she did a great job on her TSD2 on Friday with a grade of Good, under judge Sandra Pitcher.

On her track, Tiff chased a bush turkey, then found its nest, encountered some ducks, and even encountered the neighbourhood “Karen” but more importantly she found Elaine at the end of the track.

She’s a delight to handle and I think she befriends everyone.

Thank you to Ann-Marie for working with me to complete the Trial. It was long days but worth it to see so many wonderful dogs loving finding the tracklayer, whether they failed or passed, their tails at the end were worth it.

Thanks to judges Sandra, Dan Nielsen and Annette Dobson for doing a great job judging 20 entries - it was a big trial.

Well done to everyone who competed - it was a lovely weekend, beautiful weather and doing things our dogs love to do.

On the 29 August to the 1 September was the 6th BC National Australia- yes it’s been a big two weeks, so I’m finally am able to post.

From the Wednesday to the Sunday I didn’t get much sleep but it was worth it - running around doing the social media was main job. It was a lot of fun, although exhausting and it was lovely catching up with lots of people as well as seeing lots of beautiful dogs. We had an absolutely amazing committee lead by Kylie, who all just did a fantastic job putting on a sensational National.

A huge huge thank you to my handlers who helped me out over the weekend and did a great job with my dogs.

A thank you must go to Debby Lamprecht who has been training me in Scentwork.

A thank you to Scentwork Judge Natalie Kirkwood who presented me with one of the gorgeous Border Collie containers - the absolutely gorgeous BC bag.

Official photos will be coming soon so stay tuned.

I can now start catching up on sleep 💤. But truly a lovely weekend.

Another weekend and another Track and Search trial (the season is winding up). This weekend was at the Gympie Dog Obedience Club Inc. Track and Search Trial.

It was a lovely weekend - not too cold - doing what I love with my four legged friends and some fabulous company.

I competed on Friday and first off was Sean with his TSD4 and he did a lovely track. It’s certainly starting to click for him. He scored a Very Good under Judge Lesley Affleck and Trainee Judge Helen Williams.

Next up was Sienna on her TSD8. She started off well but at the first corner she took a left turn instead of right and although she appeared to be tracking something, it wasn’t the Tracklayer. So we were called and then put back on track where she did a fantastic track. Oh well another time.

Thank you to the judges, tracklayers, stewards, safety stewards - it takes a village but it’s soo good to have such a supportive group who get in and do the work to make sure we all have fun.

On Saturday and Sunday, I spent the time stewarding mostly with one tracklaying job. I didn’t realise how many hills Gympie had. Boy oh boy! About 23 kms this weekend (last weekend was 30kms) however with the hills - certainly have done my exercise.

Home from a very cold and windy Track and Search weekend at Nanango.

Saturday, Sienna competed on her Level 7 track and did a lovely job even with a little creative map design on the last corner. She scored a ‘Very Good’ under judge Lesley Affleck. With her Tracklayer Kimmie Brett, steward Helen W and Safety steward Annette Kirkwood.

Sunday, saw Tiffany commence her Track and search career doing her Level One. She’s a busy girl but once it all clicks for her, she will be really quick. Tiffany scored a ‘Very Good’ under judge Helen Lofthouse, with her Tracklayer Alison Cunningham, steward Geoff Cunningham and Safety steward Helen W.

Thank you to every who lent a hand this weekend - it takes a Village but it certainly lay makes it a friendly supportive environment.

A great weekend at the Evergreen Dog Training Tracking Trial at Tansey. It was cold and windy but it was a great weekend. There is something special about sitting around the campfire!

Sienna was the only one I competed with this weekend and she definitely did me proud. Being awarded a Very Good under judge Barry Ratcliff for her TD7 track. She did an amazing job and worked her little heart out - she found all the articles (she lied down on them all) as well as indicated the extra markers that were accidentally dropped. A TD7 is 1200m, with 6 corners - 2 of which need to be acute turns, and the track was aged 90 minutes (so Sienna and I went out 90 minutes after the Tracklayer).

I was to thank Kym Helena for being a sensational Tracklayer and to Suellen for being a great steward.

A huge successful weekend a couple of weeks ago, playing with my dogs!

We started Friday morning showing at the Rosewood Show under judge Mrs M Hammond (Qld) where Sean was awarded Best of Breed (BOB) and Sienna was awarded Runner Up Best of Breed (RUBOB).

We then headed to Forest Lake for the Yuggera Canine Club Track and Search Trial for a weekend of stewarding and competing.

Sienna competed on the Friday night for her TSD6 - evening track, under judge Mrs K Buckley (VIC) was awarded a ‘Good’ for her TSDX title - so pending from DQ, she will be ‘Trucharm The Edge Of Love TDX TSDX’. With Tracklayer Lesley Affleck and Steward Dan Nielsen.

Sean competed on Saturday morning for his TSD3, under judge Mrs K Buckley (VIC) was awarded a ‘Very Good’ for his TSD title - so pending from DQ, he will be ‘Deargban The Spy Who Loved Me TSD’. With Tracklayer Grace Koh and Steward Ann-Marie Boyd.

Thank you to everyone who worked throughout the trial - it takes a village. I certainly loved watching a great selection of dogs and was honoured to be steward on a great number of tracks, but especially for Lesley and Merlin’s Grand Champion, Kim Dawson and Reik’s Grand Champion and Mike Jeavons and El Chappo’s Champion.

On the 24 May, we competed at the Caboolture Sports Dog Obedience Club Track and Search Trial.

Sienna competed on her TSD5 level under judge Bruce Berry and was awarded an Excellent. Finding her Tracklayer Faith Dare, even though she rolled in dock poo at the start and was a little green for the whole track. Thanks Faith for laying a lovely track.

Thank you to my steward Therese Ann Berry, Handler Safety Steward Lesley Affleck, Tracklayer Safety steward Ann-Marie Boyd, and gopher Meredith Nelson. It takes a village and I’m very appreciative 🙏

It was worth waking up at 3.30am 😁

Sean wasn’t as successful with his TSD3, it was a lesson in “trust your dog”.

Over the last couple of weekends, it’s all been about Tracking- competing with Sienna, Sean and a Tiffany at the Gympie Dog Obedience Club and then the All Breeds Tracking Club with just Sienna.

A huge thank you to Carmel for all her help and tracklaying Sean and Tiffany’s TD1 tracks. 🙏

Tiffany was very excited about being out in the paddock and was running around like a silly thing but she did enough to find Carmel. She scored a Good under judge Dan Nielsen (Dan said she scored a pass but the handler scored a Very Good to get her on track so he scored the team a good 😁).

Sean was more calmer on his track than his sister. Although he had a rough start with his handler not trusting him. 😳 (trust your dog, Liz) He eventually persuaded her and we were off! He had a staring competition with the cows that were along his track but he did find Carmel too even though he was a little scared by the tarp at the end. (It was raining so Carmel was hiding under a tarp to stay relatively dry and Sean couldn’t work it out. Carmel had to coax him in to reward him.) Sean also scored a Good Pass under judge Dan who said he scored Sean a Very Good but the handler a Pass so the team got a Good!! 🤣

Sienna has now had two attempts at her TD7 level and has had some difficult conditions which she has worked through. We’ve had wild pigs digging up the paddock and then fog lifting and coming back down then lifting again followed by rain. These conditions enabled Sienna to learn new ways to work through pooling of scent. She never gave up and for that I’m very proud of her. We will get this as she is developing into a lovely tracking dog.

Thank you to the clubs, judges, stewards, tracklayers - it’s a great sport with so many people helping along the way.

Last weekend, Sienna passed her TD6 track this morning with a result of a ‘Very Good’ under Judge Coral Pethers at the All Breeds Tracking Club.

She is now Trucharm The Edge of Love TDX TSD (Pending DQ approval).

She did really well especially on her articles - they were fantastic as she dropped on each one. She had to work a couple of corners, but especially her acute corner. She encountered a mob of Kangaroos but didn’t really react to them.

So proud of my girl.

Thank you to judge Coral, Steward Geoff McCombe and Tracklayer Suellen Cooper.

as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them,

We will remember them.
