🌟 Fireworks, Parties and Pets 🌟
New Year's Eve is one of the scariest, most stressful times of the year for pets and wildlife, with unpredictable loud noises, strong smell of explosives and flashing lights. 🥳💥
Here are our tips for keeping your pets safe during the celebrations:
🎆 Please be as prepared as possible, including walking dogs in the afternoon, feeding large meals to encourage sleeping and getting them used to firework sounds.
🎆 Shut all external doors/windows, keep curtains tightly shut and provide quiet safe space/den/room filled with your pet's favourite toys/treats/blankets.
🎆 Distract pets with TV/radio/music (reggae works apparently!), act as if nothing's wrong/different and reward calm behaviour.
🎆 For particularly nervous pets, contact your vet in advance for advice on safe medications, plug-ins, sprays, anxiety jackets, etc.
🎆 Keep water bowls topped up as anxious pets may drink more.
🎆 Check microchip details are up to date too in case of escapes.
