Hi guys, as you have probably noticed, Hungry Hermits is on a temporary break for the time being due to circumstances out of my control. It is only temporary though and I will be back as soon as circumstances allow (can't give any indication how long that will be unfortunately). I will happily be taking pre-orders for when I reopen (just inbox the page) but until then, I hope your hermies stay happy and healthy! Watch this space - bigger and better things are coming when I eventually reopen. Thanks for your continued support!

Meet the Hungry Hermits team - part 5:

Hi there! I think it's about time I introduce myself. 👋

My name is Breanna and I am the sole operator of Hungry Hermits.

I have a passion for providing the best quality food, advice and service to my customers and I am dedicated to making your crabbies as healthy and happy as mine!

I'm 28 years old, live on the South side of Brisbane, and love animals of all shapes and sizes.

I've been adopting hermit crabs since I was a child and have definitely learned a lot throughout the years!

I started Hungry Hermits because I saw the need for a quality, local brand of hermit crab food with clear labelling and no hidden nasties. My crabs have it every day as their staple food and I am constantly working on new and improved flavours so keep watching this space!

I am passionate about all animals and their care, and hermit crabs never cease to amaze me with their little quirks and individual personalities.

The crabs are currently my only pets at the moment, however I have owned and cared for quite a variety of (mostly exotic) animals over the years - dogs, rats, freshwater crabs, fancy goldfish, snails, and many more! I'm also currently in the process of setting up a tank for yellow cherry shrimp. Very exciting! 🦐

When I'm not obsessing over the crabs, I can be found outside photographing nature and other wildlife,🌻🐞 caring for my succulent collection, 🌵and out and about in the community exploring Brisbane and surrounds 🏙 - if you see me around say hello! Meet the Hungry Hermits Part 4: Dudley

Dudley is the second largest crab in the family and is *almost* but not quite as big as his friend Biggie Smalls. He has just come up from a moult and is looking as fresh and as handsome as ever. 😍👌

Dudley has a beautiful rich chocolatey/burnt orange/tan colour that is especially prominent after moulting. His claw colouring is absolutely amazing.🦀

Dudley enjoys eating, foraging, exploring the crabitat, hanging out at the top of the pools (but not swimming), and climbing over the top of the other hermits. 🌊🍴

His favourite fresh foods are corn, grapes, cherries, and fish 🌽🍇🍒🐟

Meet the Hungry Hermits Part 3: Herman

Herman is the crab who started this obsession with all things hermit related. He was the first to join the family and is the original taste tester for all the yummy Hungry Hermit treats. 🍽

He is currently underground moulting but when he is up and active he enjoys climbing the plants on the back wall of the crabitat, going underwater for a swim, and seeing just how high he can climb to have a nap.🌿🏊‍♂️

Meet the Hungry Hermits Part 2: Bertie

Bertie is the only female Hungry Hermit in the group and was named after Bertie Beetle - just look at those adorable bug eyes! 👀

Bertie is a very shy crab and likes to burrow and hide during the day. She doesn't like humans very much and has made this known in the past by pinching - more than once! 🦀

Her beautiful dark brown colouring is very different to her other tank mates and is very striking against the pale white sand. This makes for great photos - but only if she is in the mood! 📸

Bertie's hobbies include digging burrows, climbing, and sleeping near her best friend Herman (Herman will be introduced in a later post). 💤

Her favourite fresh foods are meal worms, coconut, and cicada shells 🥥

Introducing the biggest, and most recent addition to the family - Biggie Smalls.

Biggie can be seen pulling his best moves as the current model and face of the Hungry Hermits logo/profile picture. 🦀🐚

Biggie is one huge crab, with his current shell opening measuring a whopping 5cm - and still growing! He has also just emerged from a fresh moult, so will be looking at new, more spacious homes to move into very soon! 😮

He is the head of the crabitat, and makes sure to let the others know this! 💪

He enjoys actively exploring the crabitat, shell shopping, and of course eating! 🐚🍽

His favourite fresh foods are prawns and popcorn 🦐
