For those of you keen to cast a decerning eye over your Burm -Baby
Here is the ACF standard for Burmese that breeders try hard to adhere to for the show rings ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜. Years of hard work and planning go into promoting this gorgeous breed.

No cat is perfect in its outwardrd appearance but every cats soul is perfection ๐Ÿ˜ป๐Ÿ˜ป

General The Burmese is an elegant cat of foreign type.

Head: The top of the head is slightly rounded, with good breadth between the ears, having wide cheek bones
and tapering to a short, blunt wedge. The jaw is wide at the hinge and the chin strong. In profile
the nose shows a definite nose break and the chin a strong lower jaw. Neck of medium length, strong,
in proportion to the body.

Ears: Medium in size, set well apart on the skull, broad at the base, with slightly rounded tips. The outer
line of the ears continues the shape of the upper part of the face. This may not be possible in
mature males who develop a fullness of cheek. In profile the ears have a slight forward tilt.

Eyes: Set well apart, large, and lustrous. The top line of the eyes shows a straight oriental slant towards the
nose, the lower lid is rounded.

Body: Medium length and size, feeling hard and muscular and heavier than its appearance indicates. The
chest should be strong and rounded in profile, the back straight from shoulder to rump.
Legs and Feet: Legs rather slender and in proportion to the body; feet small and oval.

Tail: Medium length, not thick at the base and tapering slightly to a rounded tip.

Coat: Very short, fine, lying close to the body, satin-like in texture, almost without undercoat, very
glossy. For colour and patterns recognised refer to the descriptions below.
Remarks: A bump on the nose is undesirable.

Faults: Jaw pinch is a serious fault. Oriental eye shape, round eyes.

COLOURS AND PATTERNS RECOGNISED
General Description
Eye Colour: All shades of yellow to amber, golden yellow preferred; alert and bright.

Coat Colour: Only as listed below.
Coat Pattern: Sepia (i.e., Burmese Pattern Colour Expression cb cb)
Colour should be sound to the roots. In all colours the underparts of the body will be slightly paler than
the back. The ears and face may show a little contrast but their colour should be even. In adults of all
non-tabby colours there should be no barring or shadings. Solid: The colour of the body and extremities should be the same but may show greater contrast in colours
other than brown. Tortie: In all colours may be well-defined patches of colours [large or small patches (2 or 3 hairs constitute
a patch)] or intermingled colours distributed over the whole body, including extremities. The
red/cream colour can show various shades of the colour, with or without a blaze. The distribution of
colour is of less importance than the other details of the colour. Eye rims are either a solid colour or
shades of pink or both. Ticked Tabby: On the forehead, there should be an โ€œMโ€. In ticked tabby kittens, there may be a skull cap which may clear to a โ€œMโ€ in adults. There should be an unbroken line running from the outer corner of each eye and penciling on the cheeks. The edges of the ears should be the same colour as the markings with a central patch of ground colour resembling a thumb print. The coat should be evenly ticked with two or three bands of colour extending well down each hair shaft. The darker colour should be more apparent down the spine, shading to a paler ground colour on the belly and inside the legs. Any necklaces may be broken or unbroken. The belly may be spotted. The legs may be barred. The tail may be ringed, with complete or broken rings or may have a continuation of the darker colour of the spine line. The tail should have a solid tip of darker colour except in red and cream and tortie tabbies. The darker pattern colour should extend from the feet up the back of the leg to the hock joint.
Remarks: In kittens and young adolescentsโ€™ allowance should be made for faint tabby barring in non-tabbies
and overall, a lighter colour than in adults.
Brown: Very dark colour bordering on black is incorrect.
Red/Cream: Dark spots of pigmentation (freckles) on the nose leather are allowed.
Faults: ~
Withhold Challenge: Green eyes. A noticeable number of white hairs.
Red/Cream: Too much tabby barring in non-tabbies.
Disqualify: ~

BREEDERS NOTES Allowable outcross: Burmese (American) but only under rules for Breed Development Programmes. Full generation Mandalay AOV which tests as sepia pattern (cbcb) may be used as an allowable outcross. Progeny from full generation Mandalay AOV (cbcb) to a Burmese would be registered as Burmese. All cats used as outcrosses must be DNA tested for all health tests available for Burmese (American); British and Burmese (i.e., breeds used to achieve the Mandalay). Also need to test positive for cbcb and negative for colours not currently recognised in Burmese by ACF.

Some more plants/flowers that are toxic to your kitty!!

Plants

Lilies
Toxic pollen can cause kidney failure, even if the cat doesn't chew on the plant

Cyclamen
All parts of this flowering plant are toxic, especially the parts below the soil

Dieffenbachia
Also known as dumb cane, this plant's sap can irritate the skin, and ingestion can cause vomiting and difficulty swallowing

Tulips
The bulbs are the most toxic part, but the whole plant can be harmful

Satin pothos
Also known as silk pothos, this plant can irritate the mouth, lips, and tongue

Heartleaf philodendron
This plant can cause oral irritation, vomiting, and difficulty

WHY IS A BURMESE SO SPECIAL YOU ASK?

Intelligent, loyal, and affectionate are just some of the Burmese cat characteristics that prove they make great pets for anyone. You'll love having them around as they're also great entertainers who will try anything to get your attention, even perform tricks.

They truly love you, NOT just at dinner time lol
They are like secret little shadows that follow you around the house and the best little comforters when you arenโ€™t feeling so great.

They are simply sweet, endearing, sometimes naughty little souls that enrich our lives beyond what we could have possibly imagined ๐Ÿ˜ป๐Ÿ˜ป๐Ÿ˜ป๐Ÿ˜ป

Baby unfortunately was rushed off for a C-section yesterday. She really struggled to birth a very small kitten. This little lilac girl came home with her. Unfortunately, even though I was up every 2 hours offering her feeds and checking on her.. she had passed over the rainbow bridge at our last feed at 7.30 this morning.
Baby was desexed at the same time as her c-section..
Breeding can be so gut wrenching .. Iโ€™d really had high hopes for this litter.. had been looking forward to showing a precious one from this litter.
Thankfully Baby is perfectly happy being the only baby

This BLUE tortie maleโ€ฆ YES a tortie male.. was the first stud I bred.. he was a bit of a freak of nature in that he was A Tortie ( 1:350,000 births so not common), he was a twin ( 2 kittens on the one placenta ), he was FERTILE ( tortie boys are rare.. and most definitely usually infertile) AND his colouring was REVERSED!!! Usually torties are a base colour or blue, chocolate, brown OR lilac and they have the red/cream patches coming up through the coatโ€ฆ HE was cream with blue patches coming up through the coat ๐Ÿ˜ณ
