We just met up with another travelling family and realised that we are 4/5 months out from heading to the Ningaloo and we have failed the booking system already! absolutely every site is booked out pretty much from May to August at the below campsites…

📍Nambucca Heads - NSW
We loved this place so much, it’s going to be our new family Christmas destination.

🏕️We stayed at Foreshore Caravan Park right on the water, it’s a small family owned park right in the heart of this paradise location. The owners and caretakers were old school lovely and welcoming, personally showing us to our site and where everything was.

📍The Peach Tree Farm - Yamba NSW
This would have to be one of the most enjoyable stays we have had in a while. You book your site through Hipcamp, unpowered or powered. The owners and caretakers were so lovely and welcoming.

📍Ballina Beach Nature Resort, 10mins south of Ballina on the Northern NSW coastline. This nature resort was its own little hidden oasis with everything we needed to relax and enjoy with the fam!

What a ride! Lap 1.0 around the top end & central Australia over the last 8 months will be ingrained in our memories forever.
🛻16,311km travelled
🏕️Over 135 places visited

✨We have seen places we never knew existed, met people who have become lifelong friends and most importantly gained some beautiful memories with our family.

Just to recap…. Last 10 months
🏡 MARCH- sold our property in south Brissy
🏡 APRIL- purchased another property to stay in the market
🚐 APRIL- picked up our newly built Boundless caravan
🚙 MAY- after $25k of upgrades we lost our Y62 Patrol and gained our Fuso truck
🍂MAY - set off on lap 1.0 for 8 months
☀️MAY\JUNE- headed up QLD coastline to cairns, then inland to northern QLD
🏜️ JUNE/JULY- crossed over the border into NT, explored all the way upto Darwin
🐊 AUGUST- crossed over into WA, spent 4 weeks on the Gibb River Road / Kalumburu in northern Kimberleys
🏝️SEPTEMBER- Explored Broome/ Dampier Peninsula then finished off the southern Kimberley back into NT.
🧡 NOVEMBER- headed down the guts of the NT to explore all The Red Centre.
🪨 NOV/DEC - made our way through the Opal capital, Coober Pedy, Flinders Rangers in SA and through to country NSW
🎄DEC/JAN - Hit Broken Hill and finished up through Waterfall Way back up to our home town Brisvagus!

Our Fuso Canter Truck has been an absolute beast to cruise around Oz in, she has tackelled the worst and best conditions and never let us down. Our Boundless caravan has been tested and is the pinnacle of what an off-road tiny home should be.

We now set off on LAP 2.0 for the next 8 months tracking around the southern part of Australia finishing up on the WA coastline.

We wanted to say a big thankyou to everyone who has supported us on this journey so far 🧡. We look forward to sharing all the good, bad and ugly of our next adventure around Oz with you!

Back to school 📚
The vanschooling class of 2025 has now commenced! Ava year 4 and Connor year 2… we have already had to call in Principal Dad to pull order back in the classroom

Today’s class consisted of 45 minutes of a combined maths, english and handwriting lesson followed by 4 hours of waterfall exploring, snail enclosure making and quality family time, not a bad way to start 2025!

Help please 🙏 🙏🙏
We keep hearing that we need to book WA coastlines just to get a spot in places like Shark Bay, Monkey Mia, Ningaloo etc at least 4-6 months in advance…. 😱🤯🫣

So we are doing the bottom of Australia for the next half of our lap of Oz. We are planning to hit WA from May to August- September which gives us 4-5 months to get upto Exmouth. Can we please get some advise on the MUST DO locations but also the BEST camp spots at those sites for example the ‘Ningaloo camp site 17’ and how long you would stay at each site?
If anyone has an itinerary of this that would be awesome 🤩

Any advice from anyone who has done it already would be appreciated, we want to get the most out of it as this will be our only opportunity to do so.

📍 Coober Pedy, Central South Australia
Known as the Opal Capital of the world, Coober Pedy was such a unique town to visit as we had never seen an underground town before. When people talk about Opal fever we now understand why they made a tv series about it.

🏕️ we stayed 3 nights at BIG4 Stuart Range Outback Resort. It was great, big sites, nice pool and the best pizza we have ever had. Fill up your tanks before arriving as water is limited in the town and cost us $1 per 40litres.

Here is our favourite things to do while here. Give yourself at least 3 nights to experience everything the underground town has to offer.

1. Noodling - there is a public noodling area with mounds from the mining sites. It is free and you can hire a black light, shovel and headlight for $20 each and there is so much Opal to find.
2. Old Timers Mine was our favourite mine, it’s $40 per family and goes deep into the mines plus a museum & Opal shop.
3. Other mines & museums include
- Desert Cave museum/ bar cafe
- Umoona Opal Mine & Museum
- Opal Cave Underground
- Faye’s underground home
4. Check out the Catacomb & St Peter/Paul Catholic Churches
5. Big Winch 360 is a must do for lunch or dinner, looks over the whole of Coober Pedy and is beautiful at sunset
6. Visit the two Coober Pedy entrance and hill signs

Add it to the list when visiting the centre of South Australia

Happiest 7th birthday to our gorgeous little man, Connor!
This kid has embraced every part of our new on the road life and has blossomed into a confident happy go lucky little human. We couldn’t ask for anything more and are so grateful we get to spend as much quality time with you as time is precious and your growing up way to fast 🥳💛7️⃣🎂

✨Bucket list experience- Cycling around Uluru!
If you’re planning a trip to the Red Centre, save this for everything you need to know when bike riding around the rock.

🛂 you need a permit to enter the national park, it’s $38 per adult, kids are free.
🚴The full loop is 10.6km from the carpark or 15km from the Cultural Centre and takes about 1.5 to 2 hours at a cruisey pace.
🕣 Early morning is the best time to ride, we left at 8.30am.
🚲 You can hire a bike from or we brought ours from Kmart.
💦🥪Pack some snack, water and spare tyre tubes as the paths can get rocky.

This was truly an unforgettable experience for our family, the close-up view of the sacred rock and its stunning surroundings were just something everyone needs to experience in their lifetime 🚴‍♂️🌄

A very special moment, where Doug got to sign the Wall of Tarin Kowt…acknowledging all return service men & women at The Australian War Memorial. He proudly served in Afghanistan & Solomon Islands, and sadly lost his good mate Darren Smith “Smithy” & his dog in the field. A heads up to all parents, don’t let your kids scratch their mozzie or midge bites. What started as a bite at the back of Ava’s leg quickly turned into a serious case of resistant strain of golden staph infection which stopped her from being able to walk and spread up the back of her leg. After hours in emergency, 3 days in hospital on IV antibiotics and 2 weeks of wound healing she is finally on the mend. The doctor said it could have been under her nails and got into the bite from scratching.
