On behalf of our very dear friend Margaret Coops I have been asked to let people know that Princess Zoya has crossed the rainbow bridge earlier this week. She had a very aggressive tumour on her spleen and there was nothing that could be done aside from easing her out of this world. Margaret has asked that I pass on her sincere thanks for everyone's kindness to herself and Zoya over the years. She will be back to see us at the park when she is feeling better.

By 12/1 we'll be losing adult humans in the grass as well.

Copy of this morning's email to Nicole Johnstone.
Good Morning Nicole,
We seem to have our perennial problem of BCC not keeping up with the mowing requirements of the dog park at Corinda. I reported it through Snap Send Solve on Dece 15th, and got the standard council reply on the 16th saying that they would look into it within 7 working days.
In the meantime the dog park is extrememly uncomfortable and possibly dangerous with knee high grass. The mozzies are dreadful, people are losing dog toys (and dog poos!) and we are worried about the possibility of snakes. The long grass makes it difficult for people to see where they are putting their feet which is also hazardous - none of us want to end up with an injury at this time of year! This is disappointing on a few levels. We could be potentially taking advantage of our new lights on these really hot evenings but it would be foolhardy to attempt this at the moment. Council also beefed up the signage around the park, warning dog owners to put ther dogs on the lead outside the dog park and they have been fining people with dogs off lead in Dunlop park. This seems a little unfair given the dog park is so poorly maintained. We notice that council mowed the piece of land on the corner of Brushbox Close and Pratten street but didn't do the dog park at the same time. Does this perhaps mean that appearances matter more?
I know a standard thing for council to say is that they are very busy and there is lots of mowing to be done but this is Brisbane and this is going to happen every single year. I can go through my "History" on the Snap Send Solve App to show that I have reported this problem four times in recent years. It needs to be budgeted for so we can make use of what we are entitled to as rate payers.
Please can we have our park mowed as a matter of urgency and please can Council organise to keep it properly maintained even when the grass is growing faster as this is just a "fact of life" in Brisbane.
