Is tug of war good for dogs?

Yes, when played correctly. It can be a great form of exercise and enrichment that helps tap into your dogs natural instincts, it teaches impulse control, rules and boundaries as well as strengthens the bond between owner and dog . Not to mention it can even be used as a reward in training.

To avoid injury to the neck and back, make sure you only play tug side to side. Avoid pulling the toy up and down or dragging your dog around by the toy or allowing them to hang off toy. If dogs begin to play too rough stop game immediately.

✨️Let's talk marker word✨️

The first step in anyone's positive reinforcement training journey is teaching their pup a marker word. The marker word is a short sharp word like yes, nice or good, that is said right after a dog has completed a command you have asked for, it is used to let a dog know that what they have just done is correct and give the handler time to reinforcement the behaviour with a reward.

To teach a marker all you need to do is say your marker word or use your clicker once and then follow up with a reward🦴
