⚠️ 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗧𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁 ⚠️ Over the past two weeks we have seen a jump in the number of animals presenting with tick paralysis. Even one of our two-legged animals (Dr Deb) copped a nasty bite over the weekend. With the weather starting to warm-up and now with this rain, paralysis ticks are out and active already. Padfoot has always been opposed to the ‘blanket’ early neutering of dogs without sound medical reasons for doing so. There are a number of behavioural and developmental reasons behind this.

We keep a close eye on the latest scientific thinking and are encouraged to see that major veterinary associations are now also advising against ‘blanket’ desexing.

The World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) now believes it is “advisable to leave both male and female dogs intact, where these animals are kept by responsible owners, unless there are specific reasons for neutering that individual dog.”
