Time to extract the some Reishi triterpenes.

What are triterpenes?

Well I'm glad you asked, too bad if you didn't because I'm going to tell you anyway 😁

Triterpenes are a class of chemical compounds found naturally in plants. In fact, these hydrocarbons are one of the best anti-inflammatories, anti-microbial and anti-viral compounds found in nature.

Certain mushrooms contain many triterpenes, the most abundant being Ganoderic acids, Lucidenic acids, and Sterols. And the king of mushrooms provides all these benefits - REISHI.

Reishi contains more than 140 types triterpenes that have been found as a leader in supporting the immune system and overall health of our bodies.

Triterpenes have been studied and results have shown positive effects that may show to be beneficial in the treatment of cancer cells.

They have shown cytotoxicity, which is a type of immune cell that can kill other cells, including foreign cells, cancer cells, and cells infected with a virus. Because of their natural ability to do this, they may be a way to treat and prevent cancer cells in a natural process.

We've now started making reishi capsules.

Harvesting the last of our top fruiting lions mane. We ran a bit of experiment comparing opening the bags and letting them fruit from the top, compared to folding the bags and letting fruit though a cut in the side.

The top fruiting set fruit faster and produced pretty big clusters, however, the large surface area exposed to the elements seems to encourage greater contamination.

Dave is a Botanist with over 25 years of horticulture and research experience, he's been a horticulture teacher, consultant, biosecurity specialist, worked in Pharma-botanical research and for the Department of Agriculture.
