We've been working on middle and today incorporated middle from a recall. He did so well 🥺 we will work a little bit on this next session and it won't be long and we will be able to fade the lure, which I have started doing before adding in the recall.
It's so important to break things up into little pieces before putting things together! He picked this up super quickly, as it was just like putting together the building blocks!
Working on our impulse control through play ❤️
Tommy
Tommy has been doing some walk and trains with me to help with his loose lead walking. He has improved out of sight!
Yesterday I put a harness on as well as the slip lead. As a second reinforcement. Meaning if he wasnt soft coming off the pressure of the slip lead, I added the pressure of the harness (a different kind of pressure).
This means he will learn to come off the first pressure rather than wait for the second.
It worked super well, we got some great loose lead walking for a longer period of time!
A little unedited clip of Tommy from Tuesday 😊
Pretty happy with this!
Was it like this our whole session? Nope! But that's okay, he will get there!
You may have seen the other week we were practicing backing up, we today put that into action when he would pull, leash pressure would mean he would have to back up beside me each time. This is then how it ended up! Such a clever man 🥰
After this I told him how proud of him I was and had some belly rubs!
Koda killing it this morning! We have been practicing 'middle' and starting to incorporate position changes while in 'middle'. This is great if I or her owners are in a place where they need her close, like not being able to gwt space near a dog etc.
This is a lot of what our sessions consist of! Rewarding Koda not only for when she disengages and looks at me, but also when she does look at the dog. It is important she sees the dog and learns to self regulate 😊
Some of my session with Tommy this morning!
We focused on some hindend awareness to work his brain to tire him out. Our walking component working on being able to keep a loose leash, which he is improving so much with. Is it perfect yet? Nope! But more and more of the good stuff 🤩
A little snippet of Tommy's walk and train last Thursday. Something his owners wanted some help with was his pulling on lead.
In this clip you'll see that I'm not forcing him to stay with me, but if he gets to the end of the lead I want him to realise its so much more fun to be back beside me, with excitement and treats. Being beside me is fun!
Im so stoked with how much Daphne has improved in 4 walks. She is learning that she is allowed to walk in front of me as long as doesn't pull, she is still allowed to enjoy her walk and sniff, she just has to be listening. She's such a good girl 🥰
Koda had an early morning adventure in town!
We focused a lot on relaxation in different places and allowing her to be still and just watch the world go by, which is huge for her!
We also started practicing her being comfortable in "middle"
Of course lots of sniffs and jumping on things too 🥰
