Our Obedience Group Class at Howard are already working towards achieving their Dog Obedience goals.

With the first and second class completed, the owners and dogs are already learning the foundations of respectful lead walking (heel), sit and drop/down!

At ROAR Dog Training, we provide comprehensive group courses, that equips owners to succeed in their leadership skills, development, confidence and knowledge for dog training!

Expression Depression?

When good things come to an end . . .

Can you tell by the expression on the dog’s faces, that although they were excited to graduate Reactive Group Classes at Bundaberg, that they are also disappointed the course is finished?!

After 6 weeks of hard work, consistency in techniques, homework in-between classes, and gaining valuable insight and knowledge into dog behaviour . . . this group of dogs and owners were able to achieve reactive behaviour modification, and walk peacefully amongst the other dogs. It sure did not look like this at the start of the course!! 🐾🐾

What is a Combo Package?

Combo Package options include 1 or 2 (1 hour) In, Out and About (IOA) your home assessment/consults, where I come to you, to address your specific issues, and get you started on your journey to confident leadership, with the inclusion of 6 x (1 hour) Group Classes (Reactive or Obedience).

A Combo Package provides the opportunity for the owner to gain valuable and fundamental dog training methods and dog behaviour knowledge, to begin to address the specific issues being experienced with your dog, prior to attending a group class environment.

Prediction Prevails!

Whilst I predicted the impeccable timing in-between storms last weekend to undertake the Reactive Group Classes at Bundaberg . . . the participants could never have predicted what they were going to achieve, in this class, or the previous one!

Group Dog Training classes are structured for building blocks to success. As the owners increase their skills, knowledge, and most importantly . . . confident leadership, they are also improving their own, and their dogs’ abilities, to react less and relax more!

Over the past five weeks (in one hour class intervals), these reactive dogs and owners, are succeeding more, in closer distances, in safe and controlled exercises . . . to micro-manage dog reactivity issues less, and modify to more balanced behaviour.

Amazing Amara and Owner!

If you were told . . . that this gorgeous GSD, was lunging at . . . and barking at me . . . on the first In, Out and About (IOA) your home consult, you wouldn’t believe it!

At ROAR Dog Training, I see and guide many transformations in dogs and owners, the shift when owners become more confident, and accordingly, their dogs become more relaxed!

Significant and rapid changes in dog behaviour happen, when owners ‘own’ up to their role in effective leadership with consistency and do the hard work!

Reactive yet Relaxed!

Here, our class members at our Reactive Dog Group Class at Bundaberg, are enjoying the fruits of their labour so far.

All the dogs in this class are dog reactive, yet here they all are, in relaxed sit, stay/wait, drop/down, mat/place and heel positions, all within their respective thresholds for success and calmness.

This is being achieved through the transfer of imperative knowledge and skills for reactive dog behaviour management and/or behaviour modification.

This progress so far has been achieved in classes 2 and 3 (with 3 classes to go in the course), through confident leadership, appropriate correction and timely praise. We don’t use treats to achieve our dog training goals.

We are very proud of the owners and dogs so far!!

It takes hard work, consistency and courage from the owners to address dog reactivity issues, and ROAR Dog Training’s specialised reactive dog classes, are dedicated to helping them in a supportive, controlled and inclusive environment.

ROAR Dog Training’s Dog Obedience Group Classes at Howard are progressing beautifully.

The owners and dogs have learnt fundamental dog obedience training and are building the blocks to success and confident leadership, with respectful, calm and balanced minded dogs!

In just 3 x 1 hour lessons (with 3 lessons to go in the course), the dogs and owners have learnt the foundations of Sit, Stay/Wait, Drop/Down, Recall/Come and Mat/Station Training!

Our Group Dog Training classes (whether Reactive Dogs or Obedience) are more than just your baseline commands, they also include knowledge on leadership, dog behaviour, dog body language, social etiquette, respect, permission, corrections, timely praise and consistency (to name a few), all delivered without the use of treats!

Impossible . . . means I’m Possible!

With ROAR Dog Training’s guidance, just like the dogs and owners in our Reactive Group Classes at Pialba, Hervey Bay, you can achieve Reactive Dog management and/or behaviour modification, and we don’t use treats to train!

We are not professional photographers, but we are professional Reactive Dog Trainers!

Welcome to all the dogs and owners from the Bundaberg Reactive Group Classes today!!

We started out working with leadership, thresholds, disengagement, recognising dog body language, and blocking and correcting reactive loading.

With some basic obedience exercises, by the end of the first class, all the dogs and owners went for a relatively relaxed walk together, many owners who thought that would NEVER be possible for their dog, especially after just one hour!

THE HEEL DEAL!

When you engage the mind of a dog, you also engage their body.

When your dog has to think to place their paws, through walking on the lead in the heel position . . . as opposed to erratically reacting to / appeasing or responding to their instinct, you can effectively modify lead walking behaviour.

By implementing leadership, structure and boundaries for the heel zone, with appropriate consequences (timely pressure and release), and where required the correct training tools in the correct position . . . your dog will yield to find the relaxed position to walk by your side and stop the unwanted pulling on the lead.

Learn how to start leading your dog on a walk, instead of your dog leading you.

ROAR Rewards Rescue . . .

Dog rescue has always held a very special place in my heart, having been involved over many years as a foster carer, foster rehabilitator, adopter, rescue dog trainer, and foster fail (adopting the foster dogs!)

It is with absolute delight to announce that ROAR Dog Training donated the whopping $500.00 raised to Red Collar Rescue Inc. Their main role in the community is saving dogs on death row at local pounds, taking dog surrenders, rehabilitating and rehoming rescue dogs and creating awareness.

Resonate or detonate?

By the time most clients contact me, they are at their wits end with their dogs.

Having tried different tools, methods, online courses, trainers . . . and so on, to the point they are no longer enjoying interactions with their dogs, having given up or stopped playing with and/or walking them, given up thinking their dog is ‘untrainable’, or are ready to hand over to rescue . . . fundamentally . . . losing most of the joy and love that comes with having dogs in our lives.

Howdy Humans!

I'm Big, Boisterous Barry!

Check me out learning the art (yes, there is an art to it) of Cool, Calm and Collected!!

My Mum was astounded by the way I was able to choose to self soothe through learning mat training.

My dog trainer, Sharni from ROAR Dog Training, said that you can teach a dog so many commands . . like sit, stay, come, off, on, up, down, in, out, and so on . . . BUT, you cannot command a dog to be "Calm".

Sharni was so right, once I realised this for myself, I was able to choose this, for myself. A safe place, where I can relax and switch off to everything that triggers or excites me to act on my impulses, as a dog.

I choose calm, and I love it here!!

P.S. My Mum also gets control of me and is learning how to give me the boundaries, structure and leadership that I need, so that I can truly be the best version of me. 🐾🐾

Leaps and Bounds!

Hagrid and Norbet are coming along in leaps and bounds, without the leaping and bounding anymore!

Prior to ROAR Dog Training, Hagrid and Norbet would smother all visitors with unstoppable barking, jumping up on the door and all over friends and family that visited.

Through consistency with mat training techniques, yes there is a specific technique . . . Hagrid and Norbet now happily relax on their mats without the erratic behaviours.

I am told that "visitors are amazed by the difference" and "you have helped in other ways - remaining calm when saying good boys when they have done something correct. This came in handy when I was grooming them, able to trim around their feet and clip their nails with no fuss. This isn't always the case. Thank you".

Frankie has 'come' along way! From a dog who used to run in the opposite direction, or out of the gate, or under the house . . . when he heard the recall command 'come' . . . This is what progress looks like . . . Lovely Frankie (and his owners) have learnt and implemented so much over the last few months. Through incremental training and consistency, Frankie now sits, stays, doesn't pull on a walk and comes on command . . . from a distance! I get very excited to see progress in between dog training sessions, which are several weeks apart. I am only there for one hour to demonstrate how to achieve dog training progress.
