Ohh Rico I love you so much 💜🦜

This beautiful crimson bellied conure, is a real character. I haven't cut Rico's wings because he/she just flies to us. Loves every member of the family including the dogs. Loves having a little chat, grooms my hair, loves neck scratches. This baby is super special.
But unfortunately I cannot keep him/her.

Not something I usually do, however we all love our feathered friends so this needs to be put out there.

There's a person in our community asking anyone and everyone for unweaned birds. What they are asking is ILLEGAL!

This person will claim to be experienced in handraising birds but I have messages that prove this is not true, and even if they had adequate experience my answer would still have been NO.
Why? 1) because the health and welfare of every single bird from budgie to cockatoo is very important to me.
2) because it is ILLEGAL and I respect that it is for good reason.
3) threatening me because I will not fold to your story is just not on. I will explain to you why and I will not waste anymore of my time with you.

Not out to name and shame.
My animals and their welfare come first.
So if you ask for an unweaned bird the answer is NO! If you want something, anything and can't decide between a budgie, ecelectus, conure, dog etc I am not out to support impulsive buying.

This baby is another from our Shlug and Lucky budgies. Our breeding budgies are handraised/tame and we handle the babies in the box before pulling to handraise. They have never experienced fear of humans and their parents proudly show off their offspring ❤

These are the last babies available. I'll be taking a break from handraising birds for a while. If not permanently.
I've been volunteering to help friends and it has been a great learning experience. But unfortunately it's hard work and no sooner do some birds wean, many more land in my lap and it's become overwhelming and I can't see it ending any time soon. My family need me more than the birds.

There's allot more to handraising a bird than what people think. Each bird takes about 3 months to raise. You start from feeding them every 2 1/2 hours a day. They also need handling time, at least an hour a day. It is very time consuming. Mostly rewarding.
But with a family of 6 it's hard to spread the love around. I handraised birds while working full time and heavily pregnant. I went straight back to helping my friends 5 days after our baby was born and it was really hard and I've really needed a break.
So it'll be sad to say goodbye to the babies, but will be nice to be there more for our 4 children and pets.

I still offer my ongoing support to anyone who has purchased a bird from me. And if they find themselves in need of a bird sitter, I'm still most happy to help and will very much enjoy seeing them growing up.

So these are the last, and all these guys need loving homes. They are beautiful. Please inbox me for details. Prices have dramatically dropped.

Miss Calico came back today for her wing clip 💚 Her young owner Tegan has looked after her well, and it's such a pleasure to see.

We also noticed that the black "dots" around her neck area are little love hearts 💕

She still let's me put her on her back and fluffs up with neck scratches. Such a beautiful little girl.

One special little patient today ❤🐦

Little Wagtail.

Threads were imbedded in these tiny feet. His back toe was swollen, and it must've been incredibly painful for the poor little guy. But such a beautiful little patient.
Even though I have 20/20 vision my eyes weren't up to the job today, so my better half with his supervision and steady hands very gently cut him free. It was like pulling stitches. Very proud of him and grateful for Kylie and Jemma who took time out of their days to save this beautiful little guy. 🐦❤ If it wasn't for them the poor little guy would have no toes and likely die of infection or shock. 😢

This is my beautiful boy Basil 💚 and our gorgeous Rach 💜
Basil is an Alexandrine, and one of the cageless birds in our house. He is my absolute favorite. He greets us with "peek-a-morning" and "I love you, I weally weally love you" pretty much everyday. Has a very large and extensive vocabulary and a very affectionate member of our family as you can see.
I'm currently handraising 2 of Basil's sisters and 2 of Basil's brothers (DNA sexed).
They will be ready around Christmas time or soon afterwards.. If you are, or know someone who is looking for their own Basil. Please pm me. 😁
