We do not (and cannot legally) move the bodies.

If you see a blue mark on the bodies, you know one of our volunteers has checked the pouch to see if there’s a live Joey. That’s our role and service. We have also reported it to council (all our volunteers know to do this). Although not our role, we do this as a way of helping the community & council.

If bodies are continuously there for days, we’ve likely already reported them multiple times. You can help do this too.

We’re sorry the bodies from the dog attacks last week are still there. We know this is upsetting. Hopefully they’ll be removed today.

Please remember to be kind to our volunteers who run the 24/7 hotline. There’s only so much we can do. And same goes to showing understanding to the people who answer Council’s number. Kindness and respect should be shown no matter how frustrating a situation is.

Ellis Rowan: Colonialism and Nature Painting is a major exhibition of Ellis Rowan’s Queensland paintings, alongside an impressive selection of her splendid Bird of Paradise series from Papua New Guinea.

Part of the late nineteenth-century international generation of trailblazing women... who journeyed on their own to what were for them, foreign and remote places to undertake adventures related in one way or another to European colonial projects.

In Cairns we are very fortunate to have lots of rescues working to save and rehome animals in need. Adopt a Rescue Pet Cairns and Surrounds features albums of animals available at each rescue in our region.
