And for the final introduction:
Myself!
HI! My name is Brianna. An 18yr, QLD based Show Jumper!
I have always Loved off the tracks! My first was a big bay 16.3hh gelding named rio back in 2017! He is what started the love for this breed. I planned on doing show jumping with him. Unfortunately we sold him due to him being a little too strong for my 12 year old self 🙈 a lot of horse! He is now enjoying the comp life!
In 2018 I then had an 6yr 15.2hh ottb flea bitten mare named Belle! Unfortunately only had her for a month due to not being told she had severe arthritis. She is now enjoying her life in the paddock amongst other horses!
2019-2021 We had bought a black 5yr 16hh Stock horse named Jet. I trained him in show jumping and dressage (not an ottb I know!) he is my heart horse! We sold him last year as he didn’t enjoy the comp life 😔 (he’s bred for campdrafting!) He is now enjoying his life being a trail rider and mustering horse with an elderly!
2020 We brought a grey 8yr 16.2hh ottb mare Cookie! She was going to be my second show jumper. Unfortunately she had broke her pelvis. During that time of healing she kicked the stall rail really hard and fractured her Pedal Bone and we had to put her down after that…
2021: I got given an 5yr 16.2hh ottb with a chipped knee. His name was Harley, an absolute gentlemen. After rehab I bought him back into work and man was he slow 🙈 I got the chiro out to see what work is restricted for him and he was only able to be a trail riding horse as it was too hard for his knee. He is now with a lady that does trail riding with him!
2021-2022 I brought a rescue 7yr 16.3hh ottb mare dreamer. She was such an angel and a diamond in the rough for sure! 18.7.2022 she had passed away from an aneurysm at her first show.
That’s all the ottbs I’ve had in my life! I’m absolutely hooked on them and wouldn’t want it any other way! After rescuing dreamer I realised this Is what I want to do, I wanted to rehome and retrain ottbs to give them a second life after racing. I’m absolutely doing this for them, for me it feels amazing that I have brung them up and given them a loving home they deserve.
