We love having visits from our puppies. This is Kora, she was one of Lucy and Teetoo’s Bridgeton pups. She very much looks like her dad! She had a lot of fun chasing balls around the garden with my girls this afternoon. Thank you for coming to visit 🥰

PHOBIAS: understandably many dogs are frightened during an intense storm as we experienced last night. For everyone involved this can be highly distressing.
Your pets might:
⛈️ hide
⛈️ pace
⛈️ pant
⛈️ tremble
⛈️ urinate or defecate around the house
⛈️ become destructive
Many strategies can help these situations including crate training to provide a safe consistent place for your dog & short term sedation so they are unaware of what is happening outside. Our vets are available to discuss options with you via consultation.

This is a timely reminder to ensure your pet’s microchip details are up to date with your local council. ***There are multiple databases where pets can be registered and not all are accessible or cross referenced. ***

I woke to a couple of escapees this morning, that’s when you know it’s time to level up to the big outside enclosure!

Puppies were pretty active tonight so they came out for a bit of running around and family time, this age is the absolute cutest!

The milk bar is open and lip- smackingly good! Needs sound 😆

Luna is my worst walker on lead but loves a good off leash walk. We made it to the top of Cooleman Ridge the other evening. Beautiful views + a gorgeous black lab 🖤

Working 9 to 5! There’s always a lot of cleaning to be done when puppies are around.

Lunch - enrichment feed. Puppies learn so much at this age and there’s a lot of confidence building that happens. We like to encourage exploration and play through the positive reinforcement of a Labradors favourite thing - food. This also stops meal times from being boring! As Labradors are so good driven, It can be used in different way to encourage the kind of behaviours we want. For example, let the ‘big girls’ out to help clean up and to break down any food aggression. This also gets our pups used to sharing and feeding along side other dogs. We use go slow bowls, foraging, hide and seek to get our dogs thinking and curious.

** poop alert But a great example of progress. I came home today to a relatively clean inside space and all poop outside!! It really doesn’t take long for Labradors to catch on 😀💩 Admittedly, I’m still getting mess overnight inside as they seem a little precious about doing their business outside in the dark - which is fair enough! All puppies have caught on to the dog door 😁

It’s always a wonder to see how small they come into the world and how quickly they grow. Labradors generally double their birth weight within the first week, and continue to double their weight each week after that. We try not to intervene with the nursing schedule that mama establishes but we do weigh each puppy daily for the first 10 to 14 days to ensure everyone is gaining nicely. What happens if a puppy loses weight? We put them on a priority feeding schedule, this means we give them a little uninterrupted time with mum and when all pups are feeding, we put them on one of the ‘big boobs’ to ensure they get a good milk flow. How gorgeous is Jessie with her pups! The temperament of our mums is vitally important as it flows down to the temperament of our pups. Jessie is happy and relaxed with her puppies. She is content to sit, feed, play and watch over them. She checks in when their play gets too rambunctious and wonders around the garden keeping an eye on them exploring. If she was growling and guarding the toys, the puppies would learn this behaviour. If she was unhappy and barked at every visitor who came to the house, got nervous at loud noises then the pups would also learn to react in this way. But our girls are relaxed, happy, well rounded mamas which is vitally important to us and our breeding program.
