**Update on the ACT COVID lockdown**
Our practice is committed to the health and safety of our team, our clients, patients, and the vulnerable members of society.
As of 5pm today, the ACT will enter 7 day lockdown.
Do not worry, veterinary practices ARE an essential service, and we are continuing to remain OPEN, and will be continuing to see your pets for their healthcare needs. However, as of today, we will move back to a limited contact policy with clients, as outlined below.
1. Please call the practice to make an appointment prior to coming down. Even if you have an urgent or emergency problem, call us so that we can prepare for your arrival.
• If you or anyone in your family has been unwell, or is required to self-isolate, or has tested positive to COVID19 please call for advice, so we can tailor pet care to your circumstances, while taking appropriate measures to keep our staff safe. This could involve home pet collection, or even telemedicine depending on the circumstances.
2. On arrival at the clinic you will find the front door is kept locked. Please call us from your car, to let us know you have arrived.
3. When ready for your consultation, we will call clients through into the practice. You will need to check in with the Check-In CBR QR code when you enter the building (If you need assistance, staff can check you in), you will be required to wear a mask in the practice, and only one client is permitted in with their pet at a time.
• At this stage we will not be performing some routine procedures, including nail clipping, a**l gland expression, and routine dental checks, unless there is cause for concern with your pet regarding one of these things. We will still be able to see your pet for scheduled vaccinations/annual health checks.
• Other routine visits, like post-operative checks after surgery may involve you emailing us photos of surgical sites rather than attending the practice directly to have them checked.
• If you require repeat ongoing medication for your pet, please call ahead.
• If you have found injured wildlife, please place it in a secure cardboard box, and call to let us know you are bringing it in.
These measures are of the highest importance for a number of reasons:
• They limit the risk to our staff of contracting COVID19. This is important, because we need to be able to maintain the provision of animal health, even in times of crisis; if we have to shut down due to a staff infection, it means we will not be able to provide the medical care that animals require.
• By protecting our staff, we are also protecting our vulnerable clients from the risk of contracting COVID19.
If the measures that all of us take as individuals collectively can save even a single life, it will have been worth the effort.
Stay safe, look after yourselves, get vaccinated if you can, and don’t go out unless is it needed.
We will get through this, by everyone working together.
