both native and exotic animals, as well as the largest inland saltwater tank in Australia, there is something for everyone. Wander in and have a casual stroll around the park, or make a day of it with family, friends and make use of our picnic areas and complimentary BBQ facilities. We are best known for our amazing "up close and personal" animal encounters, which provide visitors with an opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the worlds most amazing creatures!

🎉Happy 8th birthday to Solo! 🎉

Besides the fact that he is an amazing ambassador for his species, Solo is extra special as he is the only cheetah cub that has ever been born at the zoo 🐆

To make sure he had the most PURR-FECT birthday, his keepers absolutely spoiled him with enrichment 😁

🧠 Training Tuesday with Asani 🐾

Join Keeper Jemma as she demonstrates and explains training with Asani, one of our three cheetah brothers here at the National Zoo.

Training is an essential element in animal care for creatures of all shapes and sizes. It helps to keep their minds sharp and strengthens the bond between them and their caretakers. This is especially true in a zoo environment, where training is one of the best tools to help animals feel confident and comfortable with necessary medical procedures.

Make sure to stay to the end for some irresistible cheetah purrs 🥰
