We have received the following information from NSW Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment. It is a reminder that we need to be vigilant with your horse and mosquito management practices.

Horse virus alert

Japanese encephalitis is an acute mosquito-borne viral disease that occurs mostly in pigs and horses.

The virus has recently been confirmed in piggeries in NSW, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia.

In horses, the disease is usually mild but severe encephalitis can occur which may be fatal. Signs include fever, jaundice, lethargy and anorexia.
Neurological signs include incoordination, difficulty swallowing, impaired vision, and rarely a horse can become over excited.

Some horses can be infected with the disease but not show any signs.

This is a nationally notifiable disease so it must be reported to biosecurity authorities. If you see signs of Japanese encephalitis in horses or donkeys, immediately call the Emergency Animal Disease Watch hotline on 1800 675 888.

Horse owners can help their horses avoid mosquito bites. Put a light rug and fly mask on your horse and apply a safe insect repellent.

The virus does not present any food safety issues from eating pork meat or products.

**only 4 x 1/8 sausage n mince packs left**

Hi guys, the next delivery date is set and will be Saturday 18th December - I will have sausages and mince packs available as well (1/8 size).
A new pricelist is also attached (thanks to my clever son Nic), prices have remained unchanged since 2017 and while I do it mostly because I love it, we do have to keep the books in the black hence the small increase.

Shoot me a message to order or any questions you might have, and if you can share to family and friends who might be interested that would be great - there’s plenty of farm direct options available these days which is amazing - if you want locally grown food, thats 💯 what it is. All of our cattle live and grow at Samford, Kobble Creek, Dayboro, Ocean View, Mt Mee and Woodford and it all goes directly back into other local business, fuel, mechanical repairs, vets, stockfeed & paddock agistments to list a few 👌
Cheers
Andrew

We had the pleasure of hosting a Ranch Clinic with Angie Wicks, this weekend. What a great time and a lovely group of people. More photos will be added to this post (so many to go through thanks to these lovely images from Chris Mills)
A special thanks to Angie for her time and energy helping all of the participants achieve so much over the weekend - I think its safe to say that our 'roping skills' is something we all need to work a lot more on :) Although Caroline, Susan Rohweder and Donna Smith seemed to have it nailed :)
See you all on the next one some time soon.

Due to a late cancellation - we have one spot now available for this clinic being held on the weekend. Grab it quick :)

We had the pleasure of hosting a poles morning for the North Coast Trail Riding Club - lovely to meet you all and we are happy you all had fun under the great guidance of Jo Wray. They were out busy riding when we found out about the sudden lock down that was announced but everyone still had time to enjoy the beautiful home made scones that their wonderful member Robyn had made for them along with other treats provided by other members.
Great work everyone and fantastic to see so many happy smiling faces on the day.

With the snap lock down in the Greater Brisbane Area as of 4pm today it means as a non essential business we are unfortunately unable to open as is organised sport and recreation activities until the lock down ends.

The following is a summary from the Director General of Sport and Recreation:

"In summary from 4pm Saturday 31 July until 4pm Tuesday 3 August 2021, people in the impacted local government areas can only leave your residence (which includes temporary accommodation such as a holiday rental) for limited permitted purposes such as:
1. obtaining essential goods or services within 10km, including healthcare
2. exercise in your local area
3. attending essential work or school, and childcare for the children of essential workers or vulnerable children
4. assisting vulnerable persons
5. obtaining a COVID-19 test or vaccination.
In a practical sense for sport, recreation and fitness organisations, this means that during the lockdown period:
• Organised community sport, recreation and fitness is not permitted.
• Non-essential businesses are not allowed to operate - this includes gyms.
• You can exercise away from your home, within 10km, with your household group and/or one other person not from your household."
