FIREWORKS! This New Year's Eve, party hard, but party safe!

Fireworks cause terrible distress for animals! They panic & can hurt themselves trying to escape the noise. Fear is real - it's an emotion, not a behaviour, so don't believe some of the rubbish I'm seeing about not comforting your dog, or getting them to sit or drop! That's outdated nonsense. Get organised now! Read the list!

NOTE: Medications such as Acepromazine should be avoided as they provide sedation without the anti-anxiety effect, and could potentially cause an increase in fear.

🥵 Hot days ahead for Victoria with 41 the forecast on Monday In this extreme heat please take care of your pets. All pets must be kept in cool, shady areas. It is ideal to bring pets indoors on hot days. If you're feeling warm, chances are they are too.
Short nosed or flat faced dogs breeds are also more susceptible to heat stroke e.g. Pugs, English bulldogs, French bulldogs.
Provide plenty of fresh, cool water in large water containers. Be sure to provide numerous sources of water in case one is spilt. Ensure the containers are in the shade and add some ice to the water to keep it cool.
Place a clam shell pool in the shade and fill it with water so your dog can wade in the water to keep cool.
You might want to reconsider your daily dog walk on really hot days. A ground that feels hot to touch can do serious damage to your pooch’s paws. Alternatively, you can walk them early morning or evening when the weather is cooler.
By doing this you’ll also avoid dehydration, sunburn and heat stress that
can occur.
