What can you do at Brook Cottage? One of the answers would to do a bit of training in a different environment, or maybe learn some new information or techniques - here is an example of the “13 second rule”. Reach out to learn more, remember to have fun!
Here is a little clip from today - I had fun trying a new task, lunging one horse while riding another. This tested my park on the ridden horse and my responses on the in hand horse 😬 was a little bit clunky but a great start - both horses were great given my very average signals 🫣
Hope this doesn’t give anyone vertigo….
Looking forward to refining this one 🤞😇
Wild wild weather today!

How is your training going?
Today I want to highlight the great commitment to training of a lovely student and her beautiful horses.
Scarlett has worked extremely hard on her training and her mindset to achieve some great goals 🏅
This team are a great example of the rewards that come with
“doing the work”
and I am extremely proud of them.
Here is a snippet of their training success. They have established some solid responses and you can see how these can be used under pressure.
As always, training is an ongoing process and this lovely pair can now reach for some bigger goals.
What are your training goals?
What a beautiful evening 😇
Are you and your horse prepared for an emergency?
Today, I experienced an emergency situation with one of my horses. I am located somewhat remotely and there is no local vet.
Equine Emergency Response Training from Dr Lizzy McCready was my starting point (highly recommended), horse health assessment then call the vet.
2.5 hours in the float to get to the vet, made possible by consistent ground work and float training - this made my horse easy to handle by myself and the vet, and allowed my horse to receive the best possible care (many thanks to Vet in the Valley 🙏).
Please prepare yourself and your horse - education is the key!
Training is not just for training sake - train for safety and essential care - a calm, fun horse is a side effect 😄
