I was born in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and grew up working with animals. Living in a country that was not very tolerant of animals, particularly dogs, left me and my family being treated poorly at times. Despite the negative feelings felt towards me and my family, we always cared and nutured the animals that came into our home. I came to Australia in 2005, where I studied a BA in International Business. To
help with my expenses, I would walk people's dogs in Hawthorn. Fortunately, given my caring nature and my instance attachment to people's dogs, I developed enough clientele to help me get by. Due to the cost of living in Australia, Melbourne, I was unable to get my own dogs as I was living in an apartment. Instead, I voluntered my time to various rescue organisations where I helped foster dogs for short periods. To this day, I continue to provide my services to rescue organisations to help animals that are abused and neglected. After settling in Australia and found myself in better living arrangements, I was lucky enough to have Odis and Layla, who are now my best friends. They have learned to respect my rules, my house, my friends and my children. In addition, I can confidently take my dogs offlead to public settings without any concern. Unfortunatelely, these positive behaviours do not come easily. I see time and time again where people buy dogs, and then they rehome them or surrender them to the pounds because they are either aggressive, or out of control. It makes me extremley upset as you adopt/buy a puppy, it is a life commitment. Humans(the pack leader) need to ensure they are using proven systems to enable your pups eventuate into good K9 citizens. Furthermore, discipline, consistency and exercise are all important elements of having a well behaved dog. Over the years, I have developed my skills where I am able to help others train their dogs so they can take their dogs to public settings without having their dogs out of control. In addition, I have always preached the need to have well behaved dogs, so they respect your home, your kids, your partners, and your guests. I practice what I preach, therefore, my dogs are the perfect example of what is possible with hard work. There are many methods of training techniques out in the modern world, and I respect them all. However, in my humble opinion, I believe my training style gives quick results as long as YOU put in the work.

• My two beautiful girls - Sahana turns 2 this month and Layla turns 10 next month. I'm so grateful and lucky that my little girl got a chance to grow up and experience such an awesome tempered dog like Layla. We miss our boy Odess so much •

• I've been off my page for quite a while as a lot has happened since the beginning of this year and I couldn't get myself to post anything.
My beautiful man, my shadow, my son's best friend Odess ( Papillon 10 years old) passed away (7 months tomorrow) while we were away in Melbourne for my sister's wedding. We had a pet sitter looking after them but I also had my friend come in to check on them so they had a familiar face visit them too.
On what would have been the second last visit she noticed our man not breathing too well and decided to take him to the vets. Upon arrival, they decided he was really unwell and asked her to get in touch with us. Unfortunately, we were at the wedding when it happened and couldn't answer the phone in time and when I returned the call they had already put him to sleep.
It was very traumatic for us especially my son as we came back home to a home without him. We miss him every single day but feel his presence all around us.
Rest in peace my little man and keep looking out for us from above. Thank you for choosing to me part of our family. We love you heaps •

• I had my 2nd session with Nala (12 week old pup) and her brother Hulk (18 month old Saint Bernard) yesterday. She didn't want to do learn too much yesterday as she got quite distracted by her brother and Layla wandering around in front of her. Although, when we did practise the lessons she learnt last week it came to her easily.
We also decided to do a little refresher with Hulk so Nala can see her big brother is doing it as well. Hulk needed a little bit more of an encouragement to remember so we showered him lots of pats and positive reinforcements 😁
Keep it up fam 🐕👍 •

• Happy New Year everyone! My page has been pretty bare as I took a long and much needed break with the fam. I hope everyone else was able to unwind during the Christmas break and start fresh in the new year.
However, I'm back and I'm kicking it off by introducing Nala (10 weeks old German Shepherd) who had her first session with Layla and I today. She was an absolute star! It didn't take her long and was showing off her skills to her big brother Hulk.
I cannot wait to teach her some more exercises next week and see her grow up. Keep it up fam 🙏🙏 •

• Meelo ( 8 years old Chihuahua ) has been staying with us for a few days while his parents are due to give birth to his human sibling. He's completely settled with us as he's been visiting us for the last 2 and half years and also gets excited now to see us. As you can see all the doggos are in cbf mode while I try and take a picture of them looking at the camera. Alas, this will do 😁😁❤ •

• It's pack walk time - a month has gone by so quickly but as requested am I organising another walk along the beach for the puppers and we can have a cold or hot brew from De la plage.
Hope to see everyone there 🙏🏽🐕😀 •

• I had my 3rd training session with Lexi (6 year old Maltese x Maremma) who is still learning to be a little less guarded around other dogs when they come close to her hoomans. Lexi does sometimes gets nervous and unsure in certain moments but her hoomans are there to reinforce that they have everything under control and she doesn't need to react.
Lexi gets really anxious when her hoomans have to leave to work, so, we've put some exercises in play and hopefully over time, patience and consistency she'll learn to self relax and calm down over time.
But apart from that Lexi is a great little dog who loves to learn new exercises with her hoomans. Keep it up guys 👍🏽🐕 •

• I had my first session with the magnificent Vader (18 months old Rottweiler). He is about 50kgs (and still growing) of pure muscle and his paws were the size of my palms, so, when you have a dog this of size jumping up on you although playfully isn't fun.
He's a typical dog who doesn't know his size and the boundaries haven't been made clear, so, he has gotten away with a few bad habits.
My main purpose is to give his humans the tools to be able to manage this boy on walks as Vader can be very strong on the lead and also teaching him some manners around the house. For example, not jumping on the kids and the adults, No nipping or play biting and most importantly being calm around the kids.
We definitely have our work cut out for us with Vader but his hoomans are ready to put the work in. Looking forward to seeing this beautiful beast next week • 🐕👍🏽

• This was my last session with the handsome Mr. Beau. He did so great learning the kitchen boundary that we chuck a party for him and fed him his favourite treat outside the kitchen.
He's improved so much since our first session it was truly great to watch his progress. I can't commend his hoomans enough for sticking to the training and being consistent with him.
Keep it up guys and look forward to seeing him progress 🐕😁🙏🏼 •

• Pawsitive Hq Crew welcomes another member into their training squad. Beautiful Lexi (6 years old Maremma × Maltese Sh*tzu) who had recently started barking a lot more than she usually used to over the years. She's also a little bit nervous and unsure around other dogs.
Last week she was not sure of Layla hanging around her hoomans and had a few barks at Layla. It was also her first time having another dog in her yard which was a new experience. Although, she started to use her nose and take in Layla's calm energy and started to follow her a little bit in the backyard which was great to see.
Towards the end we worked on some obedience exercises and what I discovered was Lexi loves to learn new things and even though this exercise was a bit tricky as she had to concentrate just on her hoomans tones rather than treats or hand signals but she got there in the end and also got a treat which were pats and cuddles and also a delicious treat so she was very happy.
Layla and I are looking forward to our next session tomorrow 🙏🏼👍🏽😁 •

• Sunday Pack Walk was a complete hit. All the dogs behaved extremely well walking alongside each other. A lot of them were meeting for the first time. There were dogs who weren't good with small dogs, who were unsure of dogs in general but they all soaked up each other and their hoomans calm energy which was great to see.
We also stopped by the cafe and had ourselves a cool drink while the dogs could experience an outing amongst other humans and dogs they are unfamiliar with.
As it got a bit hot on our walk towards the end and since we are by the beach. I decided to lead the dogs into the water to cool down and boy were they glad 🥵🐕😁
The pack walk has been requested it be a monthly event which is exactly what I'll do. So, thank you everyone who made it to the Sunday Pack Walk and for everyone who couldn't make it I will see y'all at the next one 😁🐕👍🏽 •

Charlie ( 5 year old Greyhound) and family had their last session with the Layla and I about a month ago. He has come such a long way since when we had first started along on this journey.
His family had moved houses when we visited them on the last session. As I walked in with Layla, Charlie was a lot calmer and not as triggered compared to when we first saw him.... which is progress!!! He still has his moments when there's too much going on but it's going to take time and consistency to change and get him more comfortable and relaxed.
Charlie's humans Ciara and Marc have put a lot of work into him and continue to do so. He looks very content in this photo... maybe he knows it's the last training sess 😁😁.
Good luck with everything and look forward to seeing his progress👍🏽🐕 •

Stunner Charlie ( Kelpie 12 months old) is an absolute gun when it came to learning the exercises. We were into our 3rd session with him and within minutes of learning the 'Drop' exercise, understood that's what was being asked of him and dropped on first conmand!
I was absolutely amazed at how much he loved working through the exercises and then loved getting his rewards which were heaps of pats and cuddles.
Charlie is quite an excitable dog, so to be able to maintain his stay position while being distracted by Layla and me was making it tricky for him. Hence, the ' Drop Step Away' was a bit of a challenge but it was amazing to see him work out in his brain what we were asking of him.
When he did get it we were all jumping up and I let him give me a big cuddle.
Looking forward to seeing him progress •

• Good morning everyone! I've been a bit behind with posting all the puppers families I've been working with. So, let's see start by welcoming Beau (Boxer 3 years old) into the Pawsitive Hq Pack.
Beau and his family contacted me regarding training a few weeks ago as they just adopted him into their family and wanted a jump start ensuring they are all on the right path.
Beau is a typical boxer fun loving, energetic ball of fun but he can be a little anxious when he meets other dogs especially out on walks. So, we are working on getting him calmer on walks and having another dog around on the walks as well.
This is our 3rd session and he's tracking along really well. Keep it up fam!

• Layla ❤ - love this girl to bits. I had to take another shot of her while the sun was setting here in Darwin. Hope everyone's doing alright during these turbulent times •

• I had my 2nd session with this magnificent boy who I last saw when he was 9 weeks old. Hulk is now (10 month old Saint Bernard) learning to listen under distraction as he's not the best when it comes to recall in an off lead area when there are other dogs present.
His humans also wanted him learn the 'bed command' which is a great exercise as it teaches your dog to be calm and be relaxed on the bed for a certain amount of time. You can use this exercise anywhere, for example, if you want to go for coffee or a picnic and you want your dog to be a part of your adventure. They will know exactly what's asked of them once you put them on their bed and they can relax and enjoy the experience with you.
Hulk and his fam have just started the process of learning and teaching along with Hulk and have already made some progress. Looking forward to seeing them next week 🙏🏼😁🐕👍🏽•

• Welcome beautiful boy Charlie ( 12 months old Kelpie) into the Pawsitive HQ crew. We had our first session with Charlie last week and he is a typical working dog who continually showed his intelligence and his need to please me.
His humans wanted me to help them be able to walk this big fella and also teach him to come back to his name. Being such an excitable boy it took him a few goes to learn the initial 'sit and sit step away' but he got it in end and it was so awesome to see him understand what was being asked of him.
I can't wait to see him on our next session • .

• Dashing young Frankie (8 months old Jack Russell) is a typical JRT who is full of beans and not afraid of anything. On our first visit Layla and I went over to see Frankie and work on things to help his humans over come certain behaviours.
We saw that Frankie needed to learn on how to read other dogs cues when they had enough of him being in their face and also listening to his humans when being called. He's slowly getting the idea of not all dogs like being licked in the face constantly and to learn to be calm around dogs.
This was our third session with Frankie and his humans Michelle and Ken and they have truly done an awesome job with him. He was very quick to learn all the obedience exercises being a JRT it wasn't hard for him to pick them up. I have an awesome video showing Frankie holding his drop while the lawn mower was going which apparently wasn't possible before.
We are definitely taking steps in the right direction and cannot wait to see his progress. Keep it up guys 😁👍🏽 •

• Last week I decided to a group session with Bonnie (9 month old White Swiss Shepherd), Bonham (3 year old Amstaff) & Wal (3 year old White Swiss Shepherd) as their going to be doing adventures together. It was a great way to set up a positive experience with all the dogs by taking them for a pack walk so they could bond and get to know each other calmly.
They did amazingly and surprised their humans by how they interacted towards each other.
It's very important and crucial for dogs to have a positive interaction when meeting for the first time or after a long period of time. It spreads good vibes and energy through the group and everyone's able to enjoy the experience of having so many dogs around.
Have fun you all and I'll see you guys in 2 weeks •

• Pre lockdown walk - Layla and Odess enjoying their walks in our neighbourhood. We were able to catch another beautiful sunset and what better way to capture it. By putting the doggos in their drop position. Of no suprise, Odess had other ideas by the end of the photo season 😁😀🐕❤ •

• We had our 3rd session with the Handsome Mr. Bonham (3 year old American Staffordshire) on the weekend. He's still the boofhead I met last week but now with a few good behavior shaping exercises, Bonham, is easier to manage on walks.
This session we thought him the 'sit step away' and to listen to his family under distraction. It took him a few goes to understand the exercise as he was in an excitable and unsure state. But by reinforcing positively and repeating the exercise, Bonham, finally got the exercise and he received lots of praise and cuddles.
Bonham and his family have homework which is to practise their exercises during the week until I see them next week.
Keep it up family 👍🏽🐕 •

• Layla (8 and half years old German Shepherd) accompanied me on my coffee date on the weekend. She loves coming with me everywhere so I try and ensure when I go out to cafe's it's dog friendly so she could come along. Unfortunately, Odess injured himself at home, hence, wasn't with us on our mini adventure.
She loves the water as long as she can feel her feet ... just like me 😀😀.
Happy Hump Day everyone!! •

• I had my first session with the charming Mr. Bonham (3 years old American Staffordshire) last week. Bonham is a typical Amstaff who has an exuberant amount of energy which can sometimes be full on.
His family called me out as they needed help with Bonham's behaviour as he can be a bit unsure around some dogs which some times leads into a reaction when he goes on walks. He is a very strong dog, so, his family needs to make sure they build on his listening skills for when their out and about.
Upon our first meeting with Layla, Bonham showed signs of excitement but he was also anxious and unsure. So, we decided to go for a walk and try the halter on Bonham. Much to our surprise he didn't kick up too much of a fuss and obliged with the new techniques of training.
By the time we got back home from our walk he was completely spent but we managed to do a few more exercises and Bonhams human's have lots of homework until we see them next week 👍🏽😀 •

• I had my first session with Charlie (5 year old Greyhound) and his family who initially fostered him but he turned out to be a foster fail and they adopted him at the end of last year 😀. They contacted me as he was showing some unsocial behaviours when they took him on walks towards other dogs.
In our session we worked on reading Charlie a bit better and intercepting the unwanted behaviour by teaching him to listen to the different tones of voices and changing his choice of behaviour and upon listening, reward him with heaps of praises, pats and cuddles. Also, having the halter on as a tool helped his family have a bit more confidence to manage Charlie as he's quite a big greyhound.
I got some feedback from his family and a few of the exercises are already working for Charlie and his family onto the right path. As you can see my the photo he was pretty wrecked by it all 😀😀
Keep up the good work!!! 👍🏽👍🏽🐕 •

• I had my 3rd session with the dynamic duo (Wal - 3 years old & Bonnie - 9 months old) and it's going extremely well. They are picking up the exercises with speed and finesse.
Bonnie is still a rambunctious pup but now her humans are able to intervene when required and she's getting a lot better at listening. Wal surprised me as well being an older dog he obliged and went in a drop without too much of a fight.
In this photo we're practising a new exercise they learnt which is the 'Drop Step Away' which teaches our dogs to trust, listen and be calm from a distance. I usually use the drop technique with my dogs when I'm out and about at a cafe or a park and I want to be able to take my puppers with me and have them behave in a calm and relaxing manner - I put them in a drop so they know what's expected of them and their able to experience and enjoy the outing with us.
Keep up the good work 👍😁🙏 •

• Pawsitive HQ is back after an extended and much needed holiday with the family. We hope everyone is well and still keeping up with their training 😁😀.
We had our first session yesterday with stunning Ms. Bonnie (9 month White Swiss Shepherd) & handsome Mr. Walter (3 year old White Swiss Shepherd). Their family decided to get me out as Bonnie has become quite a handful and needed assistance with certain manners and behaviours in and outside the house.
It is quite normal for dogs to dislike the halter when it first goes on and Bonnie felt the same way but with some guidance and reassurance she took to it. It made walking her a lot easier to handle since she liked to pull and walk in every direction.
By the end of the session both the dogs were pooped and their fam were fairly surprised with the small results we achieved in the first the session. Now we just have to practise those exercises consistently and guide the dogs through this journey with lots of pats and praises.
