This little sweetie is definitely missing his bestie πŸ’” we got him this smaller kennel, its taken him all week to hop in it with the lid on, but he hopped in last night and seems to love it.

We're at our favourite holiday spot this weekend and its our first time without Frankos. I'm really missing her presence and waggy snuggles ###

The story of my girl
Frankie Rose

Frankie was born 11/11/11 & was adopted by us when she was 5 months old.
During 2011 I had lost both my little brown childhood dogs who were 17 when they passed away. They left a huge hole in my heart.
Frankie was crazy and fun and the day she came home we played for hours before she hopped up into her Dora Bed and slept all night.

5 months later we got 5 month old Ned and the chaos really began. They were loud, they'd get up at 2am and play, escape the second they could and they were just busy. But they were instant best buds and from then on ned followed frank wherever she went.

Frankie loved the beach and chasing the ball and would easily clock up 20km out at pardoe Beach chasing the ball. She also loved chasing birds .... and barking 😳😳😳 drove us bonkers.

When she was about 6 she had both her cruciate ligaments repaired within a year, poor thing, so her ball chasing days were over but she seemed to have matured a bit by then. I became pregnant around this time and she knew from day 1. It softened her. She knew I was unwell, she was compassionate and empathetic and she adored me. She would sit ON my feet when I was outside and gaze at me from the garden when I was inside.

Over a couple of years, the babies came along and her loyalty and adoration only increased. We'd take walks with the pram which became walks with pram and bikes and lots of stops and then eventually just bikes. And I'd take Frankie and Ned just by myself and it'd be like it was before the babies πŸ₯°

One Christmas Mark got me a 4 night stay at Green's Beach and I said "I'm not coming without the dogs", and we never left them behind. They've come along and made it their happy place too. The first few years Frankie would wake a 6am demanding a long walk... but over time she settled to be content laying around on the deck and an occasional dip.

Frankie loved a fire pot and just being with her people. She loved the breeze in her ears and laying in the sun. She was gentle and loyal like I've never known a dog to be. She was just the epitome of beautiful.

Frankie passed away at home on Friday 22/9/2023 around 9.30pm. We didn't know she was so unwell, convinced she had an infection she would bounce back from. But the bounce didn't come. She became very unwell, quickly, as a kidney illness took over her body. She had been so full of grace, still so full of love, but so unwell. We had to decide for her and she licked away our tears and was so at ease, we knew that she knew it was time. She was so peaceful and welcoming of the situation and rested into it gently - just like we'd expect from our gentle, gracious, elegant girl. I cannot thank Dr Michael and the team at Sheffield Veterinary Clinic enough. Frankie was so comforted by Michael and Gabby that night. We were so lucky to have them.

My heart has ached so much this week that I couldn't bear the days. Just let it be night again so I can sleep because every fibre of me is shattered and I'm exhausted from feeling this heart break. The grief was crippling but has eased slightly, now it comes in gentler waves.
Im thankful for my loving, understanding husband who has hugged me without question every single time.
I'm thankful for my children who understand my grief and comfort me.
I'm thankful for my little Ned, who is a little lost but loving us loving on him. I wish I could ask him how he's really doing.
I'm thankful for my family and friends who've checked in, spent time with me and let me pour it out on them, sent meals and flowers and absolutely normalised my utter despair ❀

For nearly 12 years, my darling Frankie has been a constant of my adult life. Every day, loving me, without conditions and with me through the biggest moments of my life. The last 5 years she's been a massive part of my parenting journey as a stay home parent. Her calming presence was palpable and I felt it every single day and she simply adored us all and gave nothing but love right to the end.

Its hard to believe she's gone and that I've just completed a whole week without one of my best friends. My heart is still smashed. How do I get on without her? I guess I just do, day by day. Knowing she's at ease now and remembering the fun, hilarious things she did brings little comfort, but I know they will with time. I just wish the time wasn't so painful to pass.

She was pure, pure, pure gold and truly magical. The dog that filled the hole..... and then some.... and then some. Gosh I miss you Frankie.
Forever and ever and ever in my heart πŸ’›

I have the pleasure of caring for beautiful Misty this week πŸ₯° Misty is an old girl and loves nothing more than a long, slow wander around the garden smelling all the smells 😊 She is just delightful.

🐾 Jagger has been adopted 16/9/23 🐾
🐾 Joplin has been adopted 17/09/23🐾
🐾 Clapton has been adopted 17/09/23🐾

Here’s a rock star trio if ever there was one, although we can’t guarantee one of these puppies actually does have the moves like Jagger.

These little legends of music are Staffy-Boxer x kids who will be eight weeks old tomorrow. Big boy Clapton weighs 3.8kg, and Joplin (girl) and Jagger (boy) both weigh 3.2kg, but of course these wee ones have plenty of growing to do.

We’re told they are very sweet pups who had a week in foster care with a young girl and another dog. They’re typical puppies β€” into anything and everything with sudden power naps in between. They’re the ideal age for socialisation with other dogs and to learn their obedience basics with their new families.

🐾 Puppies bring joy
🐾 Rock royalty
🐾 Foster care successes
🐾 Training needed
🐾 Lifetime of love

A budgie needs a buddy!

Our lovely practice manager had the most beautiful pair of bonded budgies, Peta and Paul. Unfortunately today, Peta gained her halo and Paul is now in desperate need of a new friend having never braved this world on his own. As a flocking animal they can become acutely depressed when left alone. Any help would be appreciated, they'd be going to the most lovely home.

Puppy food needed at Devonport Dogs Home, can you donate?

πŸ”Š Devonport urgently seeking puppy food πŸ”Š

Hi! It’s Bebe here. As you can see, I’m currently hiding out on a bush track as far as I can get from our Devonport Home. Why? Because the darn place is full of puppies making their annoying, high-pitched cries. It’s enough to drive a sensible dog insane.

The humans here tell me we’re in urgent need of Pedigree tinned puppy food along with puppy toileting pads. If you’re able to help, you can drop items off at our Devonport Home in Racecourse Rd, Spreyton, Woolworths Devonport, Spreyton IGA or Warehouse Traders Pet and Produce Spreyton. The puppies β€” and my ears β€” thank you in advance.

***Wattle has been adopted 22.08.23***

Golden wattle is Australia’s iconic national floral emblem. Our Wattle looks like she’s a great Aussie too β€” she already has the trademark cheeky grin in place.

Staff tell us she’s a β€œbeautiful girl” who is β€œyoung, energetic and ready to learn”, and since she likes treats, that learning should be a breeze. She can be a little shy initially but she will approach you if you wave a treat encouragingly.

Wattle’s past isn’t entirely known to us, but we understand he has lived with other dogs. We think she’s a Kelpie x between nine months and one year of age. She weighs 13.3kg. She would probably be suited to a quiet home where she can ease into a happy new life.

🐾 Beautiful girl
🐾 Young and energetic
🐾 Ready to learn
🐾 May suit quiet home

Patch finds himself back on our patch through no fault of his own. This five-month-old fellow is not just a pretty face!

Patch is a smart and quick-witted 7kg Kelpie Staghound x, with his toilet training down pat. He’ll walk himself to the door when it’s time to do his business, sitting or lying down until he’s let out.

Being such a youngster means Patch still has a lot to learn, but his eagerness to please should make ongoing obedience training a walk in the park. He’s an enthusiastic young lad, full of beans, and would prefer a home without young children.

Patch loves to soak up the spotlight and prefers to be around his humans over being alone. Patch will need an active owner willing to provide him with plenty of exercise, ongoing socialisation, and enrichment-based activities to keep his busy brain ticking.

🐾 Full of puppy eagerness
🐾 Prefers a home without young children
🐾 Ongoing training socialisation required
🐾 Toilet trained

***Delta adopted 22/09/23***

Our adoptions writer got so lost in Delta’s innocent eyes, the rest of our staff had to send out a search party! This handsome lad has come back to us through no fault of his own.

Dashing Delta is a seven-month-old Hound-Spaniel x weighing 21kg. This clever fellow is still learning the ropes with his obedience, but he comes when called (well, sometimes), and is improving with his toilet training. Luckily his smarts and the fact that he is highly motivated by food should help him continue his education with straight As.

An active boy, Delta is a friendly lad but can be a little boisterous at times β€” he’s only young, after all. He has lived with a primary school-aged child in a previous life and will need a family who can keep up with his high energy levels.

🐾 Young, fun-loving fellow
🐾 Smart boy suited to further training
🐾 Friendly and active
🐾 Has lived with primary school-aged child

***Update Maple has been adopted 22-8-23***

We’re not saying Maple’s as sweet as sugar, but surely her name indicates a certain syrupy goodness, as does her smile.

β€œMaple is an absolute sweetheart,” staff tell us. β€œShe really likes to cuddle into your shoulder.”

This delightful little dog’s past isn’t 100 per cent clear to us, but we do know she has lived with other dogs. We think she’s a Kelpie x aged between nine months and one year old. She weighs 12.4kg.

Maple can take a minute or five to warm up to people, but once she does love is well and truly in the air. This gorgeous young girl is eager to please and ready to learn.

🐾 Sweet-hearted girl
🐾 Delightful hint of scruff
🐾 Hollywood smile
🐾 Eager to please

Long time no update! I know! I've been here though, checking on pets and looking after my own.
My poor Min is having an overnight stay at Sheffield Veterinary Clinic πŸ˜”πŸ˜”πŸ˜”πŸ˜” I miss her a LOT. Our first time at Sheffield and I must say, the staff were wonderful and the vet, Dr Michael was SUPER sweet to my old girl. I know she's in good hands ❀
Here she is, having a kip on my babe's bed, earlier this week. I miss her.
