Remember Agent?

This quiet boy came to us in May as a stray eight-week-old kitten. He was an incredibly scared little guy with a case of cat flu, which needed to be treated before we could get him ready to find his forever home. After being with our fantastic foster carers for a long time, Agent was adopted - but it wasn't the right fit and back he came. His start in life meant he was just too scared of people.

But after another couple of weeks in care, a light switch turned on. He started enjoying pats. Once he started loving pats, he opened up and became the cuddliest boy! He was still timid, but we knew he would be the perfect match for someone.

After putting the call out on social media, Agent recently found a home and has settled in quicker than any of us would have expected! His new owner, David, sent us a beautiful email to let us know that Agent has come out of his shell and is so affectionate. He said that "he headbutts me, knocks off my glasses, rolls over, lies on my feet while i'm washing up and has hardly stopped purring since." ❤

Beaten up, scarred and sore, out in the cold and hungry, this boy needed urgent help!

His ears are all but gone, his face is hard and swollen from scar tissue and his teeth are snapped and rotted.

Yesterday, we received a call for help. A big sad boy had come knocking on a kind person's door but was too scared to be handled.

As soon as we saw the photos, we jumped into action, and within hours, he was safe in care.
It was instantly clear that this big tom had suffered a life of fighting.

He was at first hissing and growling, but once settled into a cozy bed with lots of treats, he took what looked to be the best nap of his life. He finally knew he was safe. After a rest and a few hours of gentle reassurance, he started to enjoy the feeling of being touched by a loving hand.

We have lovingly named this sweet guy Bruiser to fit his unique look.

Bruiser is having a much needed rest, and tomorrow, we will work on a plan.

His ears are all but gone. His face is hard and swollen from scar tissue and his teeth are snapped and rotted. We are almost positive he will be positive for FIV, and if so, recovery will be more difficult for him.

Bruiser has the odds stacked against him, but he still has fight.
"If they are fighting, we will fight for them" is our rule, so we ask you to please help us to give him the very best chance to experience the life he deserves.

Happy birthday to a woman worth her weight in gold!

Christine not only fosters our most fragile little ones, our neonatal kittens, our critical kittens and even recently a mum and family, she is the first voice you will hear when you call our 24/7 rescue line.

Rescue doesn't stop and neither does Chris, from late night orphan pickups at the vets, delivering supplies to our foster carers and helping at events she is always ready to run (between helping people in the community and kitten feeds of course). She is also our team's support line. When we have had a bad day or have a tricky situation on our hands, Chris is always willing to talk it out and help us get through it.

I know we don't say it enough but we appreciate you more than we could ever say.
We thank you and the massive number of little ones saved by your dedicated care thank you.

We hope you have the greatest day with your 12 foster babies and mumma. We love you Chris 🥰

🌟 Help Needed, Techy Friends! 🌟

Hey everyone! We've got a brilliant team at Birchgrove with a variety of skills, but we’re a bit out of our depth when it comes to our admin setup on Teams. We’re great with the cat cuddles, but when it comes to multi-factor authentication and user management, we’ve gotten ourselves a little lost! 😅

We’ve run into a few hiccups, like having two users with the same name and login showing up as different users, each with different access. It’s super confusing! If you know your way around the admin centre and can spare a couple of hours to help us sort this out, we’d really appreciate it!

Of course, there’ll be plenty of adorable kittens ready for cuddles as a thank-you! And/or a shout-out if you have a business etc. 🐾💖

Meet Griffin! This tiny 6-week-old fluffball came to us today with his mum and brother, and we discovered that Griffin has a little something extra special – a condition called pigeon chest. His ribcage is flatter than usual, and while it’s not causing him any trouble now, as he grows, it will put pressure on his organs. So, we’re stepping in early to help him stay healthy.

Tonight, he’s having a sleepover with our vet, who’ll work out the best plan to support his growth. He’ll likely need a couple of minor surgeries to gently guide his ribcage as he grows (and hopefully avoid anything more major in the future).

Keep an eye out, because Griffin will soon be rocking his own custom fibreglass outfit to help him develop properly! We’ll keep you posted on his progress and this brave little guy’s journey🐾

Kobe would be a good fit for a relaxed home without young children. He’s happiest when he has a safe space to enjoy fresh air, like an enclosure or even a secure window with a flyscreen, as he used to be an outdoor / indoor cat.
