As some of you may have seen, we are starting work in the Rokeby area. We are working to remove cats from a street where there was a horrible act of cruelty recently. Tonight our first 3 big boys arrived. Residents have seen up to 76 cats in this small street 😳 we will be racing the clock before the numbers explode with kittens 😞

We’re in a transitional phase and need a temporary spot to move our mini-intake shelter (a fitted-out shipping container) for up to a couple of months. We're looking for a flat, power-equipped area on a property in or near Dodges Ferry that can accommodate our 20ft container. I would like to apologise.
Today has been one of those nightmare days. We have been dealing with sick intakes that are draining our energy, I had to ask things of our team today that were horrible to see, handling a cruelty case that will keep us up tonight and then Miss Milly.
Our beautiful youngest shelter volunteer discovered Milly this afternoon and was so incredibly brave. This was a horrible scene seeing her in this way.
Leaving the vet, I went into panic. We had just paid most of our bank balance just to start her treatment. I questioned whether this was the right decision and if we would still be able to support our other cats in care.
This is when my wife said, 'we can do this'.
I knew we would have to ask for help, and in a rushed panic, put up a post.
Now, we hate these posts. We hate asking for this sort of help, and the words I used were wrong.
It has now been updated.
I forget we have an incredibly generous team that will move heaven and earth to make things ok, even if it's while we work something out. I never meant to make anyone feel that if they didn't donate, Milly wouldn't survive.
We know times are tough, and even some of our own team are feeling the pressure of the cost of living. We are so incredibly grateful for the support we have received, but this is not the way I intended to receive it.
Milly is going to get everything she needs, and we will make sure of it ❤️

Bridget gave us quite a scare after her first vaccination and had a pretty nasty reaction. So before her booster, we wanted to make sure everything was on track.
Luckily, she is in great health and was given some extra medication to help her with the effects of her needed booster shot.
Update - Lloyd has found his new home 😁
We need your help to find a loving home for 5 (nearly 6) year old Lloyd who has recently developed severe anxiety about other cats 😭
Lloyd’s current owner has had him for the past five years after rescuing him at around one year old. Despite a rough start in life and some initial anxiety, Lloyd settled into his new home beautifully.
Recently, though, Lloyd managed to escape, and his owners think he must have had a frightening encounter outside with another cat. Since then, he’s been absolutely terrified of his feline housemates, spending all his time hiding out of reach. His owners have been working with their vet and he’s on anti-anxiety medication, which is helping, but they have come to the heartbreaking point where they’re needing to rehome him to a single-cat, strictly indoor-only household where he can feel safe and happy again.
A little bit about Lloyd:
Lloyd loves snuggly blankets, playing with laser pointers, and bird watching from windows. He’s a good boy who doesn’t scratch furniture, but is a big guy so needs a sturdy cat tree for his excited scratching zoomies, He can handle small dogs if he has a space to retreat and he LOVES children!

Happy update!!
Firstly, Lynx got a clean bill of renal health at the vet today... and a pretty shocking rushed hair cut while the sedation was working.
Secondly, Lynx is in fact Bam Bam and she is 21 years old!
Bam Bam has been being looked after by her owners son while they are interstate and is seems she had been protesting this arrangement and not drinking.
Her teeth are pretty bad but for 21, that's to be expected. Her matted fur is due to Bam Bam being quite the sassy miss when it comes to brushing.
This sweet girls owners are ariving home tomorrow evening so she is going to stay for a bit more fluid therapy and a more even hair cut tomorrow. She is loved, just old and feeling a bit lost without her mum and dad.
This is a reminder to check your pets at vet visits to make sure they are in fact microchipped. This family assumed she was but luckily saw her post and got in touch.

Please if you are in the Claremont area, Hilton road, could you please keep an eye out for a black cat that has been hit by a car. A team member has been out to look but has been unsuccessful in finding the poor little love. Please reach out if you see it we have a team member in the area that can come straight out.
Donald is feeling sooo much better!
Due to being so messy we have been cutting poo out of his fur over the last few weeks. He was finally feeling well enough for a proper clip and he is feeling pretty proud of his new do 🥰
We would like to say thankyou again to everyone that helped us to get this sweet boy back on track 🙏 we still have a way to go but things are looking up.

This beautiful big boy was failed by people who left him behind.
We realised quickly that there were some health problems, but we did not expect what tests revealed.

Donald's costs have racked up to almost $2000 and we still have a way to go.
Unfortunately he is just 1 of the many high needs medical cases we have in care currently.
Donald was positive for
💣Campylobacter, a very severe and dangerous bacterial infection
💣Giardia, an intestinal parasite that causes horrific diarrhoea
💣Corona virus, although common in cats can present as GI issues
💣Clostridium, yet another tummy issue
💣An unknown parasite that after samples were sent to the US revealed Lungworm!
(Very rare in Tasmania)
💣Extreme element exposure
Donald recently required hospitalisation for fluid therapy as he was just so sick, he is just pooing constantly and losing all hydration and nutrition. While there, he had a large range of tests to make sure we were tackling every aspect of his condition.
Care for cats in this state is incredibly difficult and exhausting without the worry of bills.
