For her third ride after a longgg while off she’s doing pretty great! I’ll book her in to have her teeth done and a full vet check as well so it’s already done for the new purchaser so you can save some funds on that end 💞 however always welcome to do your own too!
Awaiting to get her feet done before I pop her over some jumps too!
Shes a little head tossy, hence I want to get those teeth done. But being out of work, will need to rebuild all those muscles again too! 🤩
Some lunge work on that Pessoa system will do very well…! She’s defiantly got the concept.

He’s off to compete at Peakhill show in 2 weeks time! How exciting for both Mia & G 💞😇 a new step for them! Something that they’ve both never done, so awesome I am able to be apart of their little journey together and help them 😁
Throwback to a year ago when we couldn’t approach or catch echo so we had to ‘rope’ him with the lunge lead..!!! Now he just pushes everyone around like he’s king ding-a-ling 🤣🤦🏼♀️ Lots of work been done with him!! And he’s been sat on ❤️😛

How awesome is he doing! Couple approaches he misunderstood what I was saying/did his own thing (turning hind to me hence I ran him out).
But otherwise, check out how enthusiastic he’s gotten with his ground work !! I’m keen to do more liberty with him. He’s so promising and keen to please! ✨😛
I know a lot of people are ‘against’ walking around and working your horse, but I feel lazy if I just STAND STILL in the middle and let the horse do all the work - some momentum from me toward him is so much more beneficial. I don’t see it as ‘disrespect’ because when I STOP my momentum he also stops, which I like because he is mimicking MY Body language.
All I have to do is point and ask to ‘change’ and he changes direction ❤️ he’s such a good boy!
For a colt that gets touched once maybe twice a fortnight (if that sometimes) he’s pretty god damn legendary!
No fault of his own, the weather and my schedule isn’t doing him wonders. But how intelligent is he if he can sit for yonks and still pull off work like that! Good, level headed colt. Will make an exceptional ridden mount down the track. I have no concerns he’ll ever be horrible for me ❤️

Trent’s named his little dude - he’s finally got his burnt buckskin like he wanted! Now I just have to do the work with it lol. 🤣
Anyways - he’s a little dramatic with pressure and does pull back at the moment when startled or feels pressure.. which is fine, we just have to get him out of it! 😊
It’s not something you can do alot of interfering with, they do have to ‘figure it out’ on their own, all I can do is be persistent with what I’m doing and he will eventually learn “hey, regardless if I pull back and cause a scene she’s still going to put my rug on or make loud noises”.
Being so young, I don’t make it a big issue or scene - he pulls back, I correct our surroundings and reward him for coming back from the pressure when he does. It’s not pretty, it’s pretty confronting and can be scary for inexperienced handlers or soft hands BUT I’d rather him do all his pulling back now whilst he’s little before he’s a massive big horse that can do damage to not only himself but things around him. So he will get plenty of hard tying as well as myself holding pressure whilst he runs back (did not video this today but I will) and giving him a ‘reward’ of release and relaxation when he comes back towards me/off pressure. 😊
He can be difficult to catch, so we are also working on him being caught - he’s just a typical unhandled baby and is unsure of everything!
My approach is gentle but consistent - I believe the young ones learn better if you as a person is quiet and gentle until they’re comfortable before becoming more ‘dominant’ and ‘firm’ when they are bigger and get pushy. 😃
They are little, they are scared and confused. So it’s just a step by step, hour by hour sort of thing. There’s not really any right or wrong way to work with a young horse, it’s just kind of going with the flow of that certain horse.

Little bit of work today, nothing bizzare it’s super duper basic but everything makes such a difference in the long run - and I thought it would be good to film.
Already better with the rug from some very minimal work ! The first day we got it on (Trent actually did it) she did have a tantrum, which is fine. Not something I wanted to put myself in the middle of but Trent being taller, stronger than I am just threw it on her and she took it. However, myself knowing I have to look after a baby am a bit more weary 🤣
So whilst I have the week spare it was desensitising/working with the rug today. Much easier - you’ll see I back off and let her ‘rest’ for a few seconds every time I do something/after petting her. It’s her time to just relax as you can see she is quite tense when she’s approached.
With the young ones it’s just repetition and keeping it as simple, plain and straight forward as you can!
I think she’ll be a good little horse, she’s got a good head on her and a beautiful thick structure ! 💞
More work tomorrow - similar to today!
Nothing fun about driving 11hrs in one day to pick up unhandled horses to then unload them in the freezing cold at night, it’s raining, it’s muddy, it’s gross 🤣
Anyways, might be a set back on our sickness 🤪 Not the best thing for trying to get better…

he’s not lazy and a little ‘strong’ on the bit. But again, has only had limited work and was pretty much placed in a paddock to retire and live out his days. So he’s done really god damn well!!
And is just getting better and easier with more work..
Some days he’s as easy as chips to catch, others he takes a minute or two (bit cheeky - will see if he can avoid work)
Will tie up if you don’t actually hard tie him up - otherwise is known to pull back.
Dominant with other horses - will bite and chase them away, especially if there is food around! 😫😅🐴
But look, he’s pretty straight forward for a knowledgable rider or hoony ‘cowboy’ to just use around the farm. Would be fine for a leadline I feel too.
No completely beginners.
He was bought back into work by a 13yo competent rider, shows he’s pretty simple! 😊🐴
Even better with ground work/lunging first. Will be awesome in full time work with a regular rider/handler.

Registered QH gelding 8yrs old.
Had our first ride with him tonight (have been waiting for him to put enough weight on) and safe to say, he is as lazy as all anything. I have never had a horse this lazy in my life… I could not for the life of me get him to canter, I just couldn’t. Kick, click, push, squeeze all you want - good luck. The more I wanted him to move, the slower he’d go. It literally was frustrating! 😫🤣
If you want a horse to just walk and trot around on, I’m sure you’ll enjoy zip… we did give him a pretty solid lunge first to get any cobwebs out - Trent had to lunge him he wouldn’t canter on the lunge for me either. But he did for Trent and it does look lovely! (Trents a bit hardier than I am)
He’ll need much more consistency and work - maybe someone that can use a lot of leg and keep him forward.
He does pull back when hard tied - did not tonight but has before and prev owner also stated this!
He does founder so you need to watch his weight, he has rotation of the pedal bone (result from foundering) and pigeon toed/turned out therefore requires front shoes always! Every 5-6weeks. ⭐️
X-Rays available - sound to ride and his sole has not dropped. (Promising).
Excellent with other horses (bottom of the pecking order) fine to rug, very sensible and loveable, excellent to catch, fine to tack up - just don’t tie him up he will pull back! It’s a ‘sudden move’ around his head or walking underneath the front of him when he’s tied up he doesn’t like - OR anything on top of his head !
When we floated him which was when we picked him up, he walked on, rushed off, reared then walked straight back on.
I showed him a tarp once and he had a little bit of a worry minute and reared up also then was fine back to docile and sleepy.
Not for beginners he is extremely green and has limited under saddle experience and no exposure to anything.
He is very much a project mount - would be an awesome mount for liberty/clinic
