Happy Friday all!
Referral case this evening for a septic joint.

Even the smallest of wounds around the lower limbs on horses can cause such a serious and life threatening injury!
This small piece of wood penetrated the joint resulting in massive inflammation, infection and incredible pain.
Flushing and inspection of the joint under arthroscopic guidance and administration of antibiotics as well as intravenous perfusion of antibiotics were all part of the treatment protocol.

- Willingness and ability to work rostered shifts Monday to Friday and some weekend
work
- Ability to multitask and maintain high standards in a fast paced environment
- A strong ability to follow established protocols and guidelines to ensure consistent and
safe practices in the clinical setting
- Drivers license(unrestricted) and willingness to submit a NSW Police Check

On Saturday afternoon we were host to around 94 veterinary students from both Sydney university and Charles Sturt university from Wagga Wagga for a clinic walk thru and talk about our clinic, what its like to be a mixed animal practice in a regional area and what type of cases we treat.
We hope they all enjoyed their weekend in Dubbo and come back for some clinical placement.

We have had a variety of different surgeries this week!! Some of them below…..
Corn cob stuck in the bowel of a dog, the dog had gotten into some garbage scraps some
Weeks ago. Patient is now recovering well ❤️‍🩹

Secondly a fractured skull from a paddock accident. Fractures were pulled into alignment and the wound surgically closed. This patient is also recovering well at home ❤️‍🩹

We love to see a happy ending from our clients!

This wound took Dr Ross 4-5 hours of suturing and almost 10weeks of strict post operative care from the owners but it’s healed up fantastic and she will be back to competing with her jockey in no time!
