Do you know me?
This boy was taken into the Cessnock Vet Hospital at approx 9am by a lady in her 30’s wearing black pants and a shirt. She never gave her details and promised to call the vets with details but hasn’t.
We believe this lady was the lady who called us from a private number yesterday afternoon from a private number. She stated she found a brown male Staffy near the Homemakers Centre at Rutherford. She wanted to know where the drop boxes were. When advised there are no drop boxes she wanted to know would a vet take. I asked her name she gave me the name of Isabella. When I asked for her surname she got defensive and said why, what’s the relevance for that. I explained I would log a call to see if a ranger was still in the area. I asked for a number which she gave me. After explaining that everything is closed but she could bring the dog to the facility tomorrow she was fine to hold. She asked what would we want and said just need to see your identification, she hung up on me. I spoke to a ranger but when I went to call her back the number was a fake. I sensed this was her dog but asked her to post the dog on social media as well which has not been done.
The dog is not a happy boy and had to be piled out of the vet and into the facility.
This is not acceptable to do this to the dog. He’s frightened and lashing out due to the position he has been put in.
What do we know?
-The dog is chipped but not on the database
-He is approximately 4 years old
-Believed to be from Cessnock or Maitland area
-The finder said they found him in King St, Cessnock.
-We believe that the finder maybe the owner as the dog was comfortable with her
At present we are in the process of tracking the microchip and obtaining video footage to assist our enquires but please if you know anything, please come forward as a matter of urgency.
