We had such a fabulous Sunday clinic this month!! ☀️ Although it was a bit chilly all the horses were wonderfully behaved and really put their best hoof forward 😜
Taking everything we did on the ground up into the saddle - we had a mix of horses on the day. From unbroken to green to further advanced and ready for refinement. These clinics really are for everybody!
The day was all about relaxation and confidence in both ourselves and our horses. We wanted our horses to stay confident and willing when learning something new.

Gotta love getting these cheeky moments on video! 🤣 it’s not always sunshine ☀️ and rainbows 🌈 This monkey was having a bit of fun in yesterday’s session! After having a couple of weeks off he thought cantering was wayyyyy too hard 🙄😂 But we just kept persevering and after a couple of transitions all the silly business went away. It was most important to just get him moving forward when he started carrying on as he was being resistant to going forwards freely - hence why he started bucking instead 😂 Once that forward button unlocked it was pretty smooth sailing from there! I never once got angry or emotional towards him. By keeping a calm demeanour and being clear with what I was asking him to do, he pretty quickly got over it and it never had any reason to escalate! Horses… am I right? 🤣🤣
This video makes me giggle every time 😆 sound on to hear allllll of the grunting due to having to pick the feet up a little higher…. 🤣🤣But I am starting to introduce some jumping back into our rides (it’s been YEARS since we’ve jumped). Obviously only starting off very small and basic - and I’m in a dressage saddle… 🫣But we’ve been having fun! Chatta is definitely no athlete and is very awkward 😂 but I’m sure his technique will improve as his fitness improves!! 🤞This session we were mostly working on a) getting the stride right coming into the jump and b) being less lazy 😂Gotta love him and how sweet he is, never hesitated once even if he did look awkward every jump 🥹🥰 #horse #horseriding #equine #equinephotography #equestrianlife #equestrianstyle #equestrian #showjumping #naturalhorsemanship

Who said you can’t teach an old *horse* new tricks? 😅 Chatta may be 17yrs old but he’s getting very enthusiastic about the Spanish Walk now 😂 he is really starting to understand how to do it and beginning to become more relaxed with the motion. I love watching him do it, he gets so happy and proud 🥹 We also had a fun moment where I was asking for some Spanish walk and he decided to turn it into a lovely stretch instead 😂 Now I want to teach him how to do that on cue, that would be cool! Any ideas on how to get that happening? 🤔
Here is our 2nd test from the weekend! This one went a lot better than the first one 😂 We managed to place 5th with a score of 64% for this.
Still a lot of tension present and many things need improving, but I was super happy with Chatta considering he hasn’t competed in about 4 or 5 yrs! And we’ve also never competed in an indoor arena before, so it was a lot for him to take in 😳
So his performance was just as I expected, not as relaxed and free moving as it could’ve been but still an absolute sweetheart trying to do everything I asked! Couldn’t of expected anything better 🤩
Now to see when the next comp is on… think I’ve got the bug 🤔😂

We are definitely a little rusty, but I can’t wait to see how we progress as we both build up some fitness and begin to refine our riding more. With Chatta being brought back into work after lots of on & off again riding over these past 4 years, we’ve definitely got a bit of work to do! He needed a little extra help finding that right canter lead, going right is definitely the worse direction at the moment! But we are getting there, it’s only been a couple of weeks so we can’t expect too many extreme changes yet 😂 Still taking things a bit easier and working on the simple things.
