Always love mail day!! 🤩 Bare Equine Australia

And what a beautiful package it came in also with a little treat… I do love maltesers 🤭

Poor Chatta got a foot abscess last week and is still feeling the effects of it 😩 Let’s hope these products can help him out!

All natural, full of the perfect ingredients to help his feet! 🤗

We had such a fabulous Sunday clinic this month!! ☀️ Although it was a bit chilly all the horses were wonderfully behaved and really put their best hoof forward 😜
Taking everything we did on the ground up into the saddle - we had a mix of horses on the day. From unbroken to green to further advanced and ready for refinement. These clinics really are for everybody!
The day was all about relaxation and confidence in both ourselves and our horses. We wanted our horses to stay confident and willing when learning something new.

Here’s a bit of a snippet into what we got up for the day….

*If you’re interested in attending the next clinic day message me for details! These are running most months 🦄

These have been such fantastic days to get out to with your horse as they are a relaxed atmosphere but still hold certain challenges for your horse to overcome. I am there to coach you along the way and help you & your horse overcome any obstacles, so you can continue to develop a stronger partnership together.

For all enquiries please message me or comment below and I will reach out to you. 😄

I’ve been having the best time working with this cool dude the past couple of weeks when I’ve been in Deni teaching.

We’ve been slowly introducing him to the world of riding 🐴 I’ve been so impressed with how well he has taken to everything, especially when he’s only getting about one session a week!

Last week I introduced the saddle to him for the first time. I couldn’t believe how well he took to it! Walk, trot and canter! All three paces with out an issue at all.

I can’t wait to see how he takes to being ridden. He is doing such a fabulous job so far and seems to be thoroughly enjoying the process 🤩

How gorgeous is this burgundy colour in their newest Evolve collection? I feel like it matches the burgundy/maroon hints of Chatta’s colour too! Was meant to be, thanks guys for such beautiful riding tights - these are my favourites!

This!! 🙏 Something I wish more people thought of ‘Horsemanship’ as.
Amalia has written this so clearly and easy to put into perspective. Wonderful words! 🦄

Horsemanship is inseparable from your chosen discipline…

Really, Horsemanship is the art of handling, training, and riding horses.

It’s not a standalone discipline.

It’s the underlying foundation of everything you do with horses.

Everyone who interacts with horses ‘does’ horsemanship- there is just a spectrum of quality and awareness which can either help or hinder your riding endeavours.

When you have a dressage lesson, for example, you are still practising your horsemanship.

👉🏼 How you mount your horse,
👉🏼 How you warm up,
👉🏼 How you set up tasks/movements/patterns,
👉🏼 The feel you have in your hands and seat,
👉🏼 The way you approach challenges,
👉🏼 Your awareness of how your horse is feeling,
👉🏼 The way you apply your aids
👉🏼 When you choose to quit and give breaks

It’s all horsemanship.

If your horse has trust in you, can relax around you, understands you, knows that there is always a clear answer to your questions, and has lots of history of you helping them through a variety of challenges then it makes sense that these things would directly benefit your riding!

And so learning how to connect with your horse, communicate with them, and build their confidence directly influences your success under saddle in your chosen discipline.

Also, Horsemanship isn’t only groundwork….in fact, a lot of it is riding, it’s just that starting on the ground makes the most sense since you can teach your horse how to problem-solve and understand you more clearly and safely on the ground. But all of the skills, techniques, timing, theory, understanding, awareness, etc. learnt on the ground, once applied to your riding makes riding that much better!

Afterall, whether we ride under a ‘natural horsemanship’ or ‘dressage’ or ‘eventing’ banner, whether we wear an English or Western costume, don’t we all want the same thing?

To be able to ride in harmony with our horses, with the least amount of aids required, in a way that we both can enjoy and progress?

Here is our 2nd test from the weekend! This one went a lot better than the first one 😂 We managed to place 5th with a score of 64% for this.

Still a lot of tension present and many things need improving, but I was super happy with Chatta considering he hasn’t competed in about 4 or 5 yrs! And we’ve also never competed in an indoor arena before, so it was a lot for him to take in 😳

So his performance was just as I expected, not as relaxed and free moving as it could’ve been but still an absolute sweetheart trying to do everything I asked! Couldn’t of expected anything better 🤩

Now to see when the next comp is on… think I’ve got the bug 🤔😂

I have a lesson spot available for tomorrow arvo in Deni. Message me if you’d like to book it! 😁

Looking at holding a horsemanship day this coming weekend on Sunday (Oct 16th) at Bamawm.

The day will cover groundwork in the morning and riding after lunch. Build more trust, confidence and understanding within your horses and teach them how to become problem solvers!
Under saddle, begin to ride on a loose rein and teach your horse how to follow your body language and cues rather than relying on the reins.

Cost for the day is $180, spaces are limited. Message me to book 😁

A pretty great day overall, very happy with this boy!

Haven’t competed since about 2018, never competed in EA and in an indoor arena before so there was quite a lot of atmosphere going on for Chatta’s first outing again! But he was a pro and took it all in his stride.

Placed 7 out of 13 in our first test, it was a very tense test and he was above the bit the entire time, had a lot of trouble relaxing. I’m saying this though, he still did everything I asked when I asked no hesitation so luckily that worked in our favour!

Test 2 I placed 5th out of 13, this time we were much more relaxed and ready to take on the test. Still a lot of tense moments but overall it went a lot better!

Overall just super happy with the day and how Chatta went. Really couldn’t of expected any better from him after such a long time off!

A little look into the end of our ride yesterday ☺️

Having trouble adding music to fb, if you want to watch it with some music so it’s a little more interesting go give it a watch on my Instagram 🤣

We are definitely a little rusty, but I can’t wait to see how we progress as we both build up some fitness and begin to refine our riding more. With Chatta being brought back into work after lots of on & off again riding over these past 4 years, we’ve definitely got a bit of work to do! He needed a little extra help finding that right canter lead, going right is definitely the worse direction at the moment! But we are getting there, it’s only been a couple of weeks so we can’t expect too many extreme changes yet 😂 Still taking things a bit easier and working on the simple things.

Rides with the boy are the best! Did a little bit of everything today - dressage, bridleless and a play on the ground 😆

We’ve entered our first comp together in gosh, 5 years??! It’s next weekend and we feel totally not ready!! But that’s okay, it’s just for some fun and to get back out there again. I’m feeling a little better about entering after todays ride as we had mostly a successful ride!

Last 2 pics are me asking if he could please put his ears forward for the photos 😂

A bit slow getting this one out, but a few weeks ago I had a fabulous weekend teaching a clinic in Gerogery! I’ve since had some really great feedback hearing about the changes their horses have made after the clinic too! 🙌
We tackled many many things 😆

Day 1 was introducing the groundwork to our horses and teaching them what it all means, helping them stay relaxed and thinking whilst learning something new. Under saddle was all about keeping our horses soft, light & responsive. We did some supplying exercises and played with sideways along the fence at a walk and trot!

Day 2 posed some more challenges when one of the horses became very herd bound when her mate left. It was great to show the ladies how to work through this with the mare to help her stay calm, level headed and more connected to her owner when feeling this way. We had to tackle this on the ground and in the saddle!
Under saddle we focused more on riding patterns in a circle and how to keep our horses more supple on the circle through the entire body. By using small disengagements of the back end, the horse could learn to wrap its body around our leg and start to follow the shape of the circle with their body.

What a fabulous weekend teaching a bunch of fabulous ladies! Can’t wait for the next one!

And if you haven’t seen…. I have another clinic coming up soon in Bamawm 😉 Message me to book in

Chatta is finally starting to be able to coordinate his feet and alternate his legs. Last week he would still do the same leg twice before switching 😆

Just a million more baby steps and we might actually nail it… 🙄😂

Also peep Freya in the background chasing her own shadow… 🤦‍♀️🐕

Teaching Chatta to draw to me from the circle and maintain shape, bend and relaxation the whole time.

When he draws to me, I DON’T want him to stop, turn into me and get straight through the body.
I DO want him to keep the bend through his body and ensure no brace forms on the way in. Using his body correctly is one of the things he finds the hardest, so to get a soft draw where the shoulder & rib cage stays out is massive for him! He 100% had a lot more trouble on the left rein and became more panicked to maintain shape, but he softened up with r repetition and began to release the brace/tension he was holding onto.

And of course I missed the best one on video 😩 after a few of these he impressed me big time! His stride became very elevated and he held beautiful self carriage on the draw in, I couldn’t believe how athletic he became…. Athleticism isn’t Chatta’s forte…. 🤣🤣
