Draw to me at a canter!
Had a pretty intense ride today working on some things that Chatta finds quite difficult. So we had a bit of fun afterwards 😜 Gotta love when they give you this much exuberance to come to you! (Even if a little treat may have been involved at the end…) 🤣

Here’s some fun little tasks for you to try with your horse on the ground next! Let’s play the “Can You?” game!
Can you:
1️⃣ Back your horse by the tail?
Pick up on some hairs by the tail, gently pull and your horse softly backs up from the feel.
2️⃣ Go sideways over a pole?
Stand in zone 1 (in front of the horse), softly ask the sideways cue and see if your horse can go sideways with a pole under his belly without feeling worried or concerned by it.
3️⃣Ask your horse to step up on a pallet and WAIT with all for feet?
Direct your horse towards the pallet by pointing at it and ask him to step up on to it. Can he do this without hesitation, without being worried or trying to avoid the pallet?
4️⃣ Ask your horse to only step off the pallet with his front feet and WAIT.
Gently point to direct your horse forward off the pallet and ask him to stop once the front feet land on the ground. He should be able to do this calmly and happily stand with only his back feet on the pallet until you ask him to walk all the way forward.
5️⃣ Ask your horse to trot over poles or a jump on the circling game and he stays relaxed without changing gait, speed or rhythm?
Ask your horse to go out on the circle at a trot and line him up to the middle of the poles or jump. He should be able to go over the obstacle without stopping, speeding up or trying to dodge out the side. Nothing changes in his body just because there’s an obstacle to go over.
Give these fun little tasks a go to challenge your connection, communication and rapport with your horse. Can your horse do all these challenges in a relaxed manner, without getting worried and work the puzzle out? Star makes a pretty good demonstrater don’t you think! 😜 Let me know how you go!

Let’s go Sideways!!
Can you ask your horse to go sideways from different zones? This is a great way to keep things interesting for your horse by mixing up where you ask him to go sideways from. By setting up barrels it gives you and your horse a clear direction of where you are going sideways too which will help create straightness. This is a great exercise to get the horse thinking down to his feet as well as creating softness and suppleness through his body.
Horses are super learners, so it’s important you are always thinking of ways to keep progressing your horse.
Leanne and Chase nailed this exercise this week!! 🤩

This boy is just THE BEST! This video was from a few weeks back when I bought him back in to work after a long 2yr spell.
He really is the old faithful 🤩
What are your horses like to bring back into work after a spell? 🤭
