Hello Judy, 11 years ago I brought the most beautiful blue fawn boy . He was a natural bib tail, you called him stubs we called him jock. jock passed away last week he had a massive tummy tumour. I just wanted you too know we absolutely adored every single minute with this boy a natural joker. a noisy happy full of life and so.much love..if I could duplicate him.id get another one tomorrow. he has left us all lost without his massive personality. thankyou for letting me buy him. you gave allowed me the best years with a dog I've ever known I will miss him forever.

Gestation Length

Symptoms during the last few days of pregnancy in dogs:
•Waist will trim as puppies move into the birth canal•
•Appetite loss around day 61 or 62•
•Drop in body temperature 12-to-24 hours before labour•
•Restless behaviour•
•Pacing, panting, shivering, or digging•

The body temperature of the bitch generally drops 12-24 hours before labour starts, and drops 0.5 - 1.0 °C ( °F) This can be monitored approx every 12 hours, starting from day 58-60 (from mating), to detect when whelping is imminent.

Stages of Labour

Stage One

The first lasts 12-to-24 hours and is often not outwardly noticeable. Contractions in the muscle wall of the uterus increase throughout stage one, both in strength and frequency, but no external visible contractions are evident. Instead, look out for the following signs of labour in dogs:

•Change in disposition
•Restlessness, may be hiding
•Intermittent nesting
•Lack of appetite
•Vomiting
•Panting
•Clear vaginal discharge

Stage Two

Puppies are delivered during stage two. This stage can take anywhere up to 24 hours, and bi***es deliver one puppy at a time. Each delivery normally lasts 10 to 30 minutes, with up to 1 to 2 hours between pups. It is helpful to know the total number of expected puppies, so you will know when the bitch is finished with stage two.

If a bitch is actively pushing for more than 30 minutes without delivering a pup, or if there is more than 2 hours between pups, veterinary attention should be sought. Always take any newborn pups with you if you take the bitch for veterinary attention.

Stage Three
The placenta is delivered in stage three. Stage two and stage three actually occur at around the same time, and stage three is complete when all of the placentas have been delivered. This usually occurs shortly after stage two is finished.

Urgent Veterinary Attention Required if:

• Unproductive straining for 30 mins or more
• Interval between puppies greater than 2 hours
• Greenish/black discharge from v***a
• Absence of pushing – uterine inertia
• Puppy stuck in birth canal – dystocia(Do not try to pull a puppy out if you think it is stuck or the bitch is having problems pushing)

Post-Whelp Examination:

Have a bitch and pups checked at the vet within 24 hours of whelping. This visit is to check the bitch has completed delivery, and can head off a number of potentially serious complications. The pups will also be checked over for birth defects, etc. The pups are wrapped in a towel and taken to the clinic in a box with a hot water bottle if indicated. The bitch may receive an injection to contract the uterus and stimulate milk production. The bitch will have a vaginal discharge post whelping; this is normal and should have stopped by 3 weeks, indicating that the wall of the uterus is healed.

Last night 5/4/22 we welcomed Elly’s and Chewy’s litter of 8, 3 girls and 5 boys.. all a beautiful red colour 1 red and white boy.. all very healthy.. mum and babies doing great with an easy natural birth. 😍🥰
