Happy Australia Day! 🇦🇺🐾

This Australia Day 🇦🇺, let’s pause to appreciate the incredible working dogs who have shaped our nation. For generations, these loyal companions have been at the heart of Australia's farming life, from the vast sheep and cattle stations to the toughest terrain. In the 1950s, when Australia “rode on the sheep’s back,” it was the working dogs navigating the land alongside farmers that truly drove the country forward. Their hard work, intelligence, and loyalty are the backbone of our agricultural story.

Today, we celebrate those timeless bonds. Check out some footage of our MGH Australian working Border Collies cooling off at the dam on a sweltering summer afternoon. These dogs are more than just pets they’re the heartbeat of the land, helping with every task, every day, rain or shine. Their work is the soul of Aussie farming life.

✨ Mick is heading to Port Fairy for the Australian Dog of the Year competition at the Commonwealth championships where MGH Rabbit is representing NSW for Australian dog of the year. It’s going to be an intense challenge, but Mick and the team are ready to give it their all!

The Supreme Australian Championships 2024
What a supreme event it was! Mick and his team of dogs traveled from Dubbo to Geelong to compete in the Supreme Australian Championships. It all began with the Ted Gaby Interstate Challenge, which featured three rounds against the top three handlers from each state of Australia. The highest combined scores determined the winning state, and NSW, consisting of Mick Hudson and Rabbit, Will Goggin and Trixie, and Paul Darmody and Dotti, emerged as the highest-scoring team and winners of the Ted Gaby Shield. Mick and MGH Rabbit were the highest-scoring dog and handler overall, earning a place on the Australian Test Series team along side Will Goggin from NSW to compete against New Zealand in the Wayleggo cup three test series later in the week against the best handlers and working dogs from NZ.

Mick had three of his dogs make the top 20 in the Supreme Australian Championships. Rabbit made it through to the top 10, coming in second place, while Molly just missed out on the top 10 by one point. Rabbit ended up in third place in the Supreme Australian Championships after working exceptionally hard all week, having had more runs than any other dog in the competition with nine runs, penning her sheep nine times, and averaging a remarkable 85.5 over her nine runs.

Australia won the first Test Series, Australia won the second Test Series, and New Zealand won the third Test Series. Rabbit worked exceptionally well for Australia, averaging 84 over the three rounds and being the highest combined-scoring dog of the Test Series.

It was a nail biting finish to the Ted Gaby Interstate Challenge, it came down to the very last run by Geoff Gibson from Queensland to determine the Australian Team who will take on the Kiwis in the Wayleggo Cup.
