This local cruelty case all those years ago just came up in my memories. How are people so cruel I ask myself, over and over since I was 16. We were very lucky to have the Wildlife Veterinarian with a dart gun system, Justin Clarke, locally back then.
We never did hear if the culprit was found 😞

I was called to check on a Kangaroo with a car aerial stuck in its mouth today. On closer inspection I discovered it had been shot with what I think is a cross bow. After consultation with a more experienced carer it was decided to wait for the availability of a vet an hour or so later. The vet arrived and put the kangaroo to sleep using a tranquiliser gun. Once the kangaroo was asleep the vet easily removed the bolt and inspected the wound. In his opinion it had missed all the vital parts and should make a full recovery.

A much needed mini break, which I desperately needed. (I accidentally uploaded my child kayaking to our page earlier!). But its no secret we need a rest, to spend quality time together as a family & to rejuvenate. Especially, after this past busy 6mths!

Besides a few phone calls helping Wildlife rescue carers today, chilly winter kayak, we have given water to a thirsty Roos, given numerous Swamp wallabies a wide berth on the bush tracks and watched some amazing Endangered Pied Oyster catchers breeding behaviour! Phil is bringing some tick treatment out tonight so we can treat the male EGK suffering ftom a lot of ticks around his eyes!

Janet rescued another orphaned wombat today & more were reported injured and deceased. The wotk never stops, so sometimes, we need to!

See you on Thursday 😎

Bandage removal time! The way our beautiful boy is hopping around outdoors in his hospital pen now, he clearly dies but require compression bandages any longer. We are just so happy with progress like this. From complete inability to to stand, walk or move, to near complete recovery in 5 short weeks, it doesn’t get better than this. This is the reward all the daily work is for. 😊❤️

Please help us to continue to care for more animals in need, like our Eastern grey kangaroo Rufous, if you can. It costs a lot to look after these animal’s and we need all the resources we can. Your support help allows us to keep doing what we do. Please head to

We can never replace her.
But we can be the hands that hold them through the grief they don’t understand.
The warmth they cling to in a world that changed too fast.
It’s not easy, it never will be.
But in the quiet of those moments, we become the heartbeat they’ve lost.

Written for the carers who show up, day after day, offering warmth, safety, and love to the ones who can’t ask for it.

I went out for the day yesterday thanks to Faye Adie and hubby manning the fort x Within hours, we had a wrsc rescuer attending to a call for an orphaned wombat with their deceased mother. Thankfully Faye knew what to do and was prepared for the task of settling in the big baby! Baby turns out to be 10.5kgs and would still be with his Mum for awhile yet. Clearly, he was lost without his Mum. It is so sad. The way he was sitting in his mothers rotting body is just the stuff of heartbreaks!! He had a quiet but warm night and ate all the food he was given.

So sad and disgusting for this poor big boy. But we are full. Where do all these wombats go, one must ask themselves. We will do our best, but we could really do with more help. We need Grass!! If anyone can pick and deliver grass occasionally it would be a helpful to Phil. He works so hard to keep up the grass to the now 26 wombats here!! (Not including the pinky that is on milk and not on garass yet!). Madness 🤪🙏👍❤️ Barry is safe for now 😊

Please help us to continue to care for more animals in need, like our little wombat Barry, if you can. It costs a lot to look after these animal’s and we need all the resources we can. Your support help allows us to keep doing what we do. Please head to

Very grateful & happy for Faye hand raising two beautiful babies, Eddie and Flopsy for past three months. Today, they have come to stay with us to transition to larger quarters. They have been digging and are ready to do a lot more. Welcome babies ❤️

It is sad to not have cared for as many birds in this last year, but while there are others to do it, this is a good thing also. Just like Macropids, Flying fixed, reptiles. & possums, I cannot have the time requirements for the other species, while I am needed for wombats. I have always believed the universe will put me where I am needed. But at least the facilities are here if ever required 🤪🙏❤️

So true. What beautiful people carers can be 🙏😎❤️
