Debunking the myth around cat grooming!

I have lots of clients ask should you groom a cat and if cats need bathing?

The answer is yes to both!!
Cat grooming is all about helping a cat maintain their coats. At some point during a cat’s life they may become stressed, old, sick or unable to adequately maintain their coat and that’s when the matting happens. Our job is to stop that before it happens!

Think of cat grooming as a preventative rather than a fix. We are all about giving you the knowledge to help look after kitty the best way possible!
Here are a few little pieces of knowledge to help you better understand why we groom cats!
*cats licking their coat does not clean the hair! Their tongue is designed to pull the loose dead hair out.
* Cats can often over groom themselves during times of stress or discomfort. This can lead to coat and skin problems.
* excess hair on your cat can lead to hairballs and other issues
* cats are actually very dirty! Their skin produces sebum, oils and of course dirt! This gets all over your house! Including your kitchen benches ;)
* we often think that them licking themselves cleans the coat but it really doesn’t!
* cats can be desensitised to grooming and bathing and drying a cat doesn’t always stress them out!

Booking your cat in with a trained cat groomer can help improve the skin and coat health. Cat grooming doesn’t mean shaving them off! It’s just giving them the extra help they need!
