Fox D’or has come back in great order. His last two first up runs have been excellent and a repeat of those would see him winning this race comfortably. He should enjoy the 1300 first up and is unlikely to run in to any subsequent metro winners as he has so often done at 58 grade. He is expected to win this race, but he is prone to bad luck.

Mainbar finished off last prep with a track record smashing win at the non tabs in NSW. It was a shame to have to take him there but due to some poor luck in previous runs he found himself balloted from most SA maidens. He has come back a stronger and more professional horse and we have high hopes for him this prep. From barrier 1 with minimum weight he should be able to control the race and give this a big shake.

Darren is delighted to announce the purchase of two well-bred 3yo fillies direct from the breeder.
These fillies have been given the time to mature before recently being broken in, spelled and are now ready to commence training. They will be arriving at the stables later this week, ready to commence work Monday December 18th.

1. Spill The Beans x Mapperley Belle (Savabeel) Foaled August 2020.

By Gr2 winning Snitzel stallion Spill The Beans, sire of Gr1 winner Ellsberg (Gr1 Epsom Hcp). Unfortunately, his stud career was cut short after only 3 seasons at stud. A consistent sire with a winner to runners’ ratio of nearly 60%, he produces tough durable horses that race for many seasons. Second foal of an unraced Savabeel mare that hails from a nice New Zealand family which includes Gr1 Rosehill Guineas winner Volkstok’n’barrel, Gr2 Great Northern Guineas winner Le Baron, Gr 3 winning Pop Star Princess.

We wish The Difference the happiest of retirements as he starts his new life with one of his owners and life long friend Allysia. We know he will get the love and care he deserves.

The Difference only had a very short career with Darren Mcleod Racing, but was able to deliver us a win at just his second run for the stable. He more than paid his way for owners, who weren’t in him for a long time, but at least it was a good time.
